Teral: Yes, but you old petitioners failed to consider one vital thing: Rock crushes scissors - petitions never work, especially not online petitions.  Except maybe back when TNUK was banned, but I wasn't around for that.  Anyway, this is at least creative and they can't blow it off as one person signing from a million different e-mail accounts.

Anyway, while I don't think our individual protest efforts will really accomplish anything more than making us feel better, it's important to show our support for the people who can make a difference - namely Matt, DXC, and *shudder* the same Turner execs that got the rights to air Family Guy.  Evidence of strong fan support will be vital if they're ever going to get FOX to release the rights, or at least to begin using them again.

So please, spend your $1.50 and send the goddamn anchovies.

Vive la Resistance!  Also, I had forgotten you made a suggestion earlier about sending in the anchovies every month.  What do you wanna shoot for, about the 25th each time?  And what about doing something for Xmas?  Maybe something with Robot Santa?

[RS]Remember me, FOX?  You wouldn't let me on the air the second time around, even in the time frame I should be in - the most appropriate one for my show!  You've been very naughty, FOX!  Very naughty indeed!"

the 25th sounds good, Z227.  It doesn't mean anything, but it'll help avoid confusion.

And I'd really like it if someone went after a few FOX personalities with a bicycle gun...

Whoohoo, my birthday is on the 25th this month. Finally, a special occasion that calls for mailing away anchovies!
Maybe it would work better with disgusting, rotten fish? These things do go bad, right?

Now, if we do it every month, and more of us do so...

I really don't know why FOX refuses to bring back Futurama, or give up the rights. (They either hate it for not being the Simpsons in the future, or are scared that if they give up the rights, the people who get it will actually treat it well, and make tons of money. Probably both of those reasons.) I'm getting sick of saying it, but I'll say it again. Why not go for a 13 episode, trial season. Actually promote it, and give it a decent, RELIABLE schedule, air it regularly, and see what happens. They'd make tons of money.
But as said before, appreciation of the show must be shown. This anchovie thing would work, but it would have to be sent every month or so.
And an online petition AND mail-in petition would be needed. (However pointless.)
But at least the show ended on a good note. (TDHAIP can be considered a series finale, and it leaves the door slightly open for a return. And one, and only one, good point for FOX. At least they released the DVDs pretty quickly {at least for me}, and in good format.)

And what ever happened to Matt Groening on [as]? On that one Matt Groening thread, people were theorzing he might have appeared on the last week of October, after the September 27 date passed. And now, nothing.
What was it like for Family Guy? Were dates pushed back, and when it was first announced McFarlene would be on [as], how long did it actually take McFarlane to actually appear? Those are all important factors.

In the I, roommate commentary, someone said that the episode was the result of FOX telling them to tone down the whole "future" thing.  All of FOX's sugjestions were followed to the letter. But when FOX saw the episode they said it was the worst one ever.  They never took FOX's advice again.  :laff:
I have sent in a can.  I will do so again, although it is realy pointless.  To get attention you need to be as crazy as stargate fans.  They actualy bought there own airtime to air an advertisment for the TV movie. We're lunatics, but fragmented, semi-orgenized lunatics.

*bump*  Well, two days ago I checked my mailbox, just to find one very beat up, very dirty can of anchovies (sardines, but you get the point).  On it was a sticker that said "Return to Sender" and numerous checked off reasons why.  But do you know what the top of that sticker said?  Twentieth Century Fox.  That's right people, it made it there... and back.

EDIT: Hmm... I should really READ the thread before I blindly post.  Oh, well.  Point is, I addressed it right also.  So Lrrr doesn't suck.

Send them back. Repeatedly, and without mercy. With any luck, the cans will eventually fall apart from manhandling by the postal service, and never end up back at your door.

FOX kept simpsons instead of futurama because it appealed to a wider audience, partly because it is family-oriented, partly because it had been on for a long time and gotten much status. Futurama seems to appeal to young adults-adults mostly, since it cannot really appeal to children expecially since that one episode, the christmas one, was aired later due to violence. and of course there are way more sexual references in futurama than simpsons...but that's what made it so funny!!!  :D the sexual references in simpsons are between homer and marge, husband and wife. futurama is more sporadic, sleeping around with other people. dear lord, it was the seinfeld of animation!!! now i know why i love it so much!!!  :D

bottom line, i'd take futurama over simpsons anyday. 16 seasons and becoming very stale, prob because writers are out of ideas because not anything can happen in simpsons, unlike futurama where anything is possible in the future. so that restriction probably adds to the often iffy storylines in simpsons

It may just be my personal opinion, but it seems to me that family-based animated series(as in like the main characters are members of a family, i.e. simpsons, family guy, KotH, etc) seem to fair better in the ratings market.  I'm not saying that Futurama didn't do good cause its not family-based (we all know the real reason), but it just seems to me that those types of series tend to do better.

I have a new plan, if AFF failed. It's called FFD: Fry's Fossilized Dog. I'll make a papermache dog that looks like Symore and fill it with compliant letters. Just an idea....
Although AFF probably worked better, the mail people might think mine is a bomb or something and throw it away.

Just FYI, if we're going monthly (and I am...aww, yeah) tomorrow's a good time to send your one (1) package of anchovies from inside the U.S. for about two (2) dollars and maybe 5 minutes of your time (20 minutes if you have to go out and buy stamps.)  While no one will be around to open them on the 25th (that's Thanksgiving,) there's a good chance they'll pile up over the weekend.

If you're interested, and not a cheap apathetic bastard, go ahead and send them in.

Well, well, well...more newbies for the cause.

I've been behing monthly mailings from the start.  If you want to participate, I recommend following the instructions on the website (see earlier in the thread) for one tin of anchovies every month on the 25th.  Why the 25th?  Because that's when we started.  Sending one tin costs less than $2.50 from inside the US, including postage for the tin and a respectful letter to Gail Berman.  I'm skipping this month, as there will be nobody there on Christmas, but from January on, I'll be doing it every month.

Sorry I missed this. I would have gladly done it.

Also, it reminds me of a line from Godfather, when they get the fish rolled up in the newspaper. "It's a sicilian message. It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes."

Wonder if Fox thinks you've put a mob hit on them. Or maybe they are just smiling because our beloved Futurama sleeps with the fishes.
