Catch 'Em if You Can

In the first four minutes, Homer takes the family to a video store. On the ceiling, next to a bunch of movie posters, is a Futurama one featuring Bender and Fry.

I'm suprised I caught it, but hopefully I wont be the only one!

I caught that... I'm hoping it was an unofficial announcement to the fans that there is a Futurama movie in the works.  It was a movie rental place, after all... Of course, I'm being super optimistic... but here's hoping!

Well, randomly throwing out that you hate The Simpsons or whatever is pretty pointless when the thread itself didn't ask for that opinion.  Not defending whatever his first strike was though.

Anyways, I'd have no idea about posting a framegrab, but the gag itself was in the background (the "camera" never focused on it), definetely making it a freeze frame grab.  The image was also a little blurry and pretty off model, probably because of its nature and just the fact that Simpsons animation isn't as sharp looking as Futurama animation.  It was a good find though, and hopefully these Futurama references will continue (and hopefully a Futurama movie will come true, though I hope it finds a better spot then "Lackluster Video" ).

I'm surprised they actually put that poster in. Then again, of course, with LAST week's new Simpsons,it was like..uh.. THIS!
Lenny: Hey, it's Matt Groening, the creater of FUTURAMA!
few seconds later
Milhouse: Can you sign my BENDER doll?
There should have been Fry or Leela walking around the convention. But is it[Neptunian elves]An omen? Dinner![/Neptunian elves] I mean, just an omen of more Futurama? Probably not.But we can dream.*Waits paitiantly for stuff to be thrown at self*

Thats neat. It's good to know that they still care about Futurama and would be happy to continue it in a movie or tv(I hope) form.

Well on the DVD box, Leela is on the other side, not next to Fry and Bender.

If you count the comics, yes. Fry and Leela appeared on the cover of one a few months back.

Otherwise, no.

Fry and Bender are just more iconic of the show, so they're more likely to appear (similarly, if another show makes a reference to The Simpsons, they'll most likely refer to Homer and/or Bart).  Especcially with more of a cult show like Futurama, they need to use the most recognizable characters if they want a good portion of the audience to "get" it.  That said though, there's still time, and there will probably be plenty more Futurama references considering all the Futurama staffers on The Simpsons staff now, and that many Simpsons staffers are also fans.

In fact, when The Simpsons movie finally comes out I can probably guarantee they'll throw a Futurama reference in there somewhere.

PCC, leader of the online cliques, eh?

Go spout your dribble in someone elses thread, I dont want to read it nor care what you think of me. Keep counting my strikes, give me a heads up when I hit 100, and really, find someone else to flame and/or follow from thread to thread. Your comments are not wanted nor needed for the general success of this thread.

I'm really getting sick of your comments against me. If you dont like me, ignore me.

Please dont even RESPOND to this with some sort of wanna-be whitty comeback.

Thank you, drive thru.

Edit: To add some substance to this thread, in hopes that it wont turn into a flame fest, Matt Greoning is going to be appearing on the Simpsons this season, yet he'll be introduced as the creator of Futurama, not the Simpsons. Go Matt!

Matt Groening appeared in the episode "My Big Fat Geek Wedding". It aired on April 18. Although Mr. Groening's appearance was brief, it was very enjoyable. But you're right, he was introduced as the creator of Futurama.

^Interesting note I found researching what Rhodan said:

Quote
In the original airing of this episode, Uter's T-Shirt said "Star Wars", in the 18 Apr 99 rerun it said Futurama. Futurama was a new series on FOX that premiered in March of 99, the series was created by Matt Groening.
Matt Groening didn't want "Futurama" and "the Simpsons" to cross over (like "The Simpsons" and "The Critic" did), so all of the airings of this episode (except for syndicated versions) changed Uter's "Futurama" shirt into a "Star Wars" shirt.

No witty comeback, I'll just give you the same advice I gave nerdlingus last week - if you want people to listen to what you have to say, cheap insults aren't the way to go, especially insults directed at someone who's been here years longer than you have.
