That sounds like a great idea! Just a couple of questions:
-I live in England, so what am I meant to do as the set time is 2am in the morning?
-Do i just send my e-mail at the designated time to the Rupert Murdoch address?
Thanks, because I'd love to take part.

Sm@: yeah, sorry about that. i was thinking backwards. you don't have to send it at exactly 2 am, anytime after that is still fine, but the point IS to try and send them all at the same time. you can always stay up late one night, right?

Nasty Pasty: good for you!

dimension_8: see my response to sm@, and also, yes, send it to the email address i listed.

KAH: so do i, so do i.

I am so glad this is all getting underway! I was afraid that maybe this was gonna just fizzle out or I had missed the letter-sending fun!
Just signed up!! Hmmm, what to write in the e-mail tho?

Any rough guidelines concerning the e-mail?
Size, for example? Or is that irrelevant(just need to bombard Fox?  :p )

Miss Bender, you're lovely. I agree, we should have a template and a few rules, like no swearing or threats. I know we hate Fox but we're trying to be persuasive and we can't bully them, Rupert Murdoch is a vampire.

Ok, then, here are the rules:

Quote
  • No swearing
  • Use correct grammar/puncuation/spelling to the best of your ability
  • Try to make the e-mail at least a paragraph or two long.
  • Don't insult FOX.
  • Don't make any threatening remarks.
  • Dont say the Rupert Murdoch would die up if he came in contact with sunlight.
  • Try to use real, true facts in your e-mail.
  • FOX doesn't care if Futurama was you're favorite show, they care if it was everyone's favorite show.
(i only used the quote tags so it would look nicer and attract attention, i didn't actually quote anything)

I'll try to write up a template and/or list of facts that can be used in the e-mail later on. maybe next week, or in 3 weeks when school gets out.

Hmmm... I can appreciate your enthusiam, Zeep, however misplaced it may be (all right, the jaded cynicism prevelant it these boards rubs off somewhat). I find it semi amussing that your petition of still getting sigs too, even though you abandoned it weeks ago.

Hmmm, spamming Fox to death... Now the ass is on the other foot!

You know, i don't think i've complained in this thread yet, and while i know i'm not going to make a difference to you pointlessly optimistic know-nothing know-it-alls, i'll say it anyway.

This thread is giving the wrong impression, the noobs come in, see this thread, and think "Wow, maybe Futurama will make it back on the air!"
Well, i've got news for you, it won't. And maybe, just maybe, if threads like this were done away with, people might get the idea. At the moment, judging by the sign-up dates, There's an average of three to four months before people realise that it's over, and give up. I reckon, after people have been around this forum for 2 weeks they should realise.
We don't want to get these poor bastard's hopes up.

If you really want to make a petition about this, you're probably better off entitling it "Petition to tell CN to make more money" and sending it to Cartoon Network. Fox is not bringing it back.

See Mic's thread for details.

We've had things like this before....

Not to put a damper on your good mood, but I would sugest waiting until there's some sort of official announcement before we start the techno party. And 'according to sources' isn't exactly concrete.

Still... here's hoping...   ;)

I read it on the Internet so it must be true.

I've never heard of this website, so I can't judge it's credibility, but a rumor published on an Internet website, is hardly reason enough to open the champaggen.

Gravity normal...show returning...despair replaced by cautious optimism...

I doubt that its as simple or as certain as the website makes it seem, but all rumors have some basis in fact.

One thing about rumors is they are all true. Seriously, its a rumor and nothing more right now; until we here something from FOX I'm taking that stuff very lightly.

Hasn't anybody on any staff considdered an OVA revival for Futurama?

[OVA=Original Video Animation]

This format which is incalculably popular in Japan has bolstered even a few decent amrican productions, most notably the Tiny Toons Summer vacation, and numerous neglectable Disney efforts.

With a presently huge cult fan-base, and a yearning to hear for more outcrying from every corner, surely somebody could put up the dough for a few DVD releases.  The only issue would be cutting the last remaining ties to FOX, as if that would be a bad thing.

I call for a new petion and a new cause, Futurama OVAs!

Elaborate on this. I have heard of it being used on shows like Robotech, but I never truly figured out what it actually means.

Original Animation Videos (OAVs) are direct-to-video releases of animated movies or shows.  The most common examples of this in America are those crappy sequels to hit animated Disney movies.

In Japan, OAVs are a lot more common, and it's not unusual for an entire series to be released as OAVs.  OAV shows tend to be of a higher quality than TV shows.  Also, OAV episodes tend to be a bit longer (usually a full 30 minutes), because they don't need to leave room for commercial breaks.
