Yes we must give new hope to everyone.

And I agree any april fools jokes about this would just be mean.

I dont think they would have to cancel anything(although I wish they would). I think they would just not have a "bonus" Simpsons like they've been doing.

Personally, I like both The Simpsons and King Of The Hill and I hope they don't cancell either of them.

Welcome to PEEL KVA.

Actually I had the most comprehensive April Fools joke in the history of PEEL with that exact idea, but then someone had to post about Sarge's death and I dropped it.

But rest assured it would've been better than Jon's attempts.

You might have seen this on CGEF but I thought I'd put it here.  This comes from Billy West:

"I was out last night with a buddy in LA and I ran into Matt Groening.  We talked about the cartoon network and he seems to get the impression that the CN is very interested in new stuff but FOX still calls the shots.  We shall see."

CN being interested isn't a new idea, but I guess it's good to know they're still interested.  Perhaps they could work out the same kind of deal as Family Guy and have both Fox and CN involved.

Of course they would be interested. It's there 2nd highest rated show(next to Family Guy). Think of all the money they could rake in with new episodes.

Let The Rumor Mill Begin
While the crew at The Simpsons try to figure out what they're going to do about season #16 (If you didn't know, the cast is on strike), it appears that the crew of Futurama have been getting phone calls lately from Executive Producer David Cohen. Now while obviously it's hasn't been confirmed or denied that Groening and Fox are in talks with Turner over the show, it apperas that many of the crew have been getting messages that hint toward returning to work. Apparently the revival of Family Guy, which currently has 5 scripts for Season 4 finished and being produced, has sparked interest in the revival of other shows on Fox that "died before their time." Word is even out that WB may be trying to revive The PJs.

If we ever get official word on Futurama, we'll post it as soon as we get it.
(from TVTOME.com)

Sooooo... is TVTOME a reputable journal of opinion? Or should we add the usual five bags of salt... YOU DECIDE!

Okay, now are you quite sure this is the right thread for your post?  ;)

Any chance you can give us the link?

It's no secret that CN wants new episodes of Futurama.  The question is whether FOX wants it or not, since the majority of the funding would come from them.  At this point it still looks unlikely, but with the renewal of Family Guy we're in a much better position than we were a year ago.

Ok, my opinion:

There is a good chance for us to get back our beloved show. We now that Billy West had a talk with Matt Groening about some plans for a reunion of the crew.
Another point is that the costs of a Simpsons episode (will) increase, cos the actors demand 360000 US$ each Episode, if i read correctly.
And the third point is that Futurama seems to have a great run on CN (I don't know, I'm just a lousy German, without American TV) and great DVD sales. It would be a shame if they would not produce a new season to get the $-signs in their eyes bigger and bigger.

Just my opinion!  ;)

I am sure I have heard somewhere about a new cartoon that matt groening has in the works after the death of The Simpsons ( God Forbid) but i would have thought that he would not have kept it a secret. Maybe there is a reason maybe not. Also with all this new hype over futurama i believe it is regaining popularity and it is shown at Seven until 8 O'clock on a sundays over here in Britain one of the best time slots in my opinion ( no idea about US tv) also with all the raving that is going on about it on Adult Swim and the huge success of the DVD sales it leads me to believe that maybe this mystery show IS Futurama. Just a thought but still all hope is not lost I mean I believe Matt Groening preferred Futurama to The Simpsons. Note the Emmy anecdote in one of the audio commentaries(can't remember which one). Just my thoughts but hey it can't hurt right.

All these rumours must have some  reason. Especially now, when Simpsons became more costly to produce. Lets hope that everything will be as we want.

@Cpt. Libido - Although Futurama has a great time slot in the UK, realistically the popularity of it's reruns here won't have a great effect on FOX's decisions.  The key factors will be a)Futurama's popularity on Adult Swim, and b)Region 1 DVD sales.

The main Simpsons actors are asking for $360,000 an episode, with six lead actors that'd cost FOX $2,160,000 per episode in salaries alone.  Despite the money the Simpsons makes in merchandise that's a lot of money for FOX to spend on one show.

It looks promising, and i hope it is true, but i will reserve any chantings of "Woo" or "Hey, this might be the turning point" until it is at least confirmed. However, i still remain hopeful that the show will restart, but i do have an ounce or two of realism in me.

I hate to be a pessimist, but FOX doesn't seem to listen to petitions. I signed the original one, which winded up with 150,000+ (correct me if I'm wrong) signatures. FOX wasn't impressed or moved. But just for the sake of sweet, sweet, false hope, I'll sign.

The petiiton probably won't make any difference, although there's no harm in trying.  However if the rumours are anything close to being true, we may find that the petition isn't needed anymore.

Here's hoping...

The thing about Family Guy is that we already know it's coming back for sure. With Futurama, it's still up in the air. There are many unanswered questions and even though we don't have any concrete evidence yet, I have to say I feel a little exhilerated to be part of it all.

Is there any chance of Futurama being shown on FOX once again? It seems like they're hard up on shows (Sunday nights have been following a new/repeat schedual for King of the Hill and The Simpsons very regularly), and while Family Guy may not apply because of it's edgy vulgarity, Futurama is still "Cool enough for FOX". Plus, it seems like FOX would be able to squeeze the most money out the revival if this were to happen.

I think IF Futurama were to produced again, it would still be on good ol' FOX. If Futurama appeared to be the huge, potential money maker that Family Guy or the Simpsons are, they would NOT sell the rights to make new episodes to a small cable company like Cartoon Network. They would keep it themselves to milk every last penny out of the series. (like Simpsons)
