And I agree any april fools jokes about this would just be mean.
Welcome to PEEL KVA. Actually I had the most comprehensive April Fools joke in the history of PEEL with that exact idea, but then someone had to post about Sarge's death and I dropped it. But rest assured it would've been better than Jon's attempts.

You might have seen this on CGEF but I thought I'd put it here. This comes from Billy West:
"I was out last night with a buddy in LA and I ran into Matt Groening. We talked about the cartoon network and he seems to get the impression that the CN is very interested in new stuff but FOX still calls the shots. We shall see."
CN being interested isn't a new idea, but I guess it's good to know they're still interested. Perhaps they could work out the same kind of deal as Family Guy and have both Fox and CN involved.

Of course they would be interested. It's there 2nd highest rated show(next to Family Guy). Think of all the money they could rake in with new episodes.

Ok, my opinion: There is a good chance for us to get back our beloved show. We now that Billy West had a talk with Matt Groening about some plans for a reunion of the crew. Another point is that the costs of a Simpsons episode (will) increase, cos the actors demand 360000 US$ each Episode, if i read correctly. And the third point is that Futurama seems to have a great run on CN (I don't know, I'm just a lousy German, without American TV) and great DVD sales. It would be a shame if they would not produce a new season to get the $-signs in their eyes bigger and bigger. Just my opinion!

Then click here and sign: http://www.petitiononline.com/bbf_2004/petition.html I hate to be a pessimist, but FOX doesn't seem to listen to petitions. I signed the original one, which winded up with 150,000+ (correct me if I'm wrong) signatures. FOX wasn't impressed or moved. But just for the sake of sweet, sweet, false hope, I'll sign.

this is a very uncertain time in the Futurama universe. There are tons of rumors flying around and with the impending return of Family Guy, who knows what could happen...

I think IF Futurama were to produced again, it would still be on good ol' FOX. If Futurama appeared to be the huge, potential money maker that Family Guy or the Simpsons are, they would NOT sell the rights to make new episodes to a small cable company like Cartoon Network. They would keep it themselves to milk every last penny out of the series. (like Simpsons)
