So, here’s an idea; we should all start celebrating Robanukah once a year in the form of a great party with robot-dancing, beer, cake, robot decorations… and what else!?

Robanukah could be even greater than Bobunk*  :D! But I  need some help in figuring out what a Robanukah party should contain, and WHEN it should be celebrated? Judging by the episode number, it should be in the middle of April perhaps? (New years eve is long passed, but there is still a long way before the X-mas episode) And do you have to include a fight with beer bottles? Whaddyathink???

*Some friends of mine (who are fans of Sabrina the teenage witch) re-invented Bobunk  http://www.bobunk.tk , which turned out to be the greatest party in the calendar so far. It is a recent tradition, only 4 years old, but it is a tradition nonetheless  ;) (and it’s spread to three other cities, and at least two other countries), so it’s really possible to make new traditions!

April 20th is my suggestion, the release date of the episode.  ;)

Great, then we get to celebrate this year.  What are the rules for the traditional Robanukah drinking contest?

I think it should be celebrated sometimeduring fall. Afterall Bender said it was just something he made up to get out of work. The spring months have lots of little holidays that give you a break from work: Easter, Whitsunday, etc. whereas fall doesn't have a single holiday (unless you're a student, lazy bums!), at least not around these parts. Having Robanukah around early October should be perfect.

Let's leave out the chair dance, and add more beer..... and then some extra beer.

I like the reasoning behind April 20.  Although, around here, that's already a holiday.

*ech* it removed my message..

As I was saying, I think if not April 20.. Then it should be mid/late August, summer is closing up but it's still nice enough to be outside.

Wikipedia:
April 20th is a ceremonial day to "smoke out" (smoke marijuana).

No, we wouldn't be able to get anyone up off their asses to come to our Robanukah party.  Maybe August 10, for the last Futurama airdate, or March 28, for the first...

Except the series started at New Years, and this is only the fifth episode.  :p

Maybe there'll be a schism, with the orthodox observance on April 20th, and the "meatbag" heresy celebrating on August 10th.

If we get enough people behind this idea, we can start a poll to find the optimal date.

Nevermind Robanukah, I want to celebrate Bobunk.

No one seems to remember what it is, though.   ;)

I concur with the "August 10" line of reasoning. It's still summer vacation, which leaves the day open for a marathon session of watching the full run  of Futurama DVDs.

So, it basically stands between April 20 or August 10? Hmm... April 20th seems more correct, but if it clashes with something else it might be difficult to get people to come... But on the other hand, August 10 is soooo far away...

Whatabout the fourth saturday of April? If Robanukah STARTS April 20th, and then lasts for two weeks, it would be logical to have the Robanukah-party in the middle, i.e. April 24th?!? Then it wouldn't clash with other holidays!
Or just to have it saturday the 17th (so much better to have a party on a saturday!)??

Oh, and do you think everyone ought to dress up as robots???

Should we make a poll about the date and then decide? Any more suggestions than March 28, April 20, Fourth saturday of April (=April 24th this year), and August 10 before we start voting?

Yep, sure is.  :)
I say August 10th, it seems more fitting.. and April 20th is a bit too close. :P I think if you have one of those European PEEL meets it should be then, and we can celebrate and get wasted and all the good stuff at the same time.  :)

Now, now, now. Robanukah should be celebrated on the date of BEnder's "birthday" - that is, the day on which he was released from the factory upon an unsuspecting world.

Does anybody know this date?? If so, then this should be the date of Robanukah. If not then there is a way to decide upon another date.... what was the birthday of the guy who coined the word "robot" ? He wrote a play, and he was Czech, but that's all I know.

So, anybody know either date?
