...excluding Godfellas, that is. Let's be honest, if I put that in the poll it would just be a one horse race.  :hmpf:

So besides Godfellas, what is your favourite Bender-centric episode and why? For this poll, I've tried to pick the episodes that focus the most on Bender, and I couldn't quite squeeze The 30% Iron Chef in there. But meh.

Anyways, I'm undecided between Bender Gets Made, The Honking and Obsoletely Fabulous right now, so I'll vote later.

Hmmm...this poll is making me realize more then usual just how relatively weaker Bender episodes tended to be, compared to episodes based around Fry, Leela, or the whole crew.

I'll say Bender Should Not Be Allowed on Television though.  I really thought it was a hilarious and wonderful episode.  I was suprised how negative the response was.

Love and Rocket was also great, although I can see why its not included (since it also has the Fry/Leela story going).

I think I'm gonna go for Obsoletely Fabulous too. It was another episode where an isolated Bender has to find ways to keep himself occupied and I personally really enjoy those situations: it's a more monologue-ish style of comedy that Futurama didn't employ enough in my opinion, particularly with the other characters. The animation was some of the most beautiful of the series, too. Big up to Dwayne Carey-Hill.  :)

Raging Bender is a classic. I'll vote that.

But I still say Pharoah and Bend Her are underrated. The stories are nothing to write home about, and they both end on kind of a weak note, but they both have some hilarious moments.

I agree with FishyJoe.

But my favorite is Bender Should Not Be Allowed On TV.  Especially because of Hypnotoad.  HILARIOUS!

Still, Bender Gets Made and Raging Bender are great episodes.  I don't know if I've seen Obsoletely Fabulous, however.  I may have...

It's the one where Bender goes to a desert island and becomes a wooden robot.

I went for the Honking, It was the beginning of the t.v airing of season 3 and I thought that the show was really getting much funnier so it gave me high hopes.
Obsletley fabolous a close 2nd however.
iron chef would be 3rd.

But yeah there all behind Godfellas
oh and I'd say Bender Should Not Be Allowed On TV
is the worst of the lot possibly worst ever.

"Hell is Other Robots", closely followed by "A Pharoah to Remember". They are both great episodes, but HIOR gets my vote if because of the Beastie Boys and the robot devil's song.

I agree with that, to an extent.  The best Bender episodes were during the first two seasons, when the show did it's best comedy.  The weaker ones tend to be in the later two seasons, where there was a lot more emphasis on character relationships.  The exception is Godfellas which doesn't easily fit into either of the two categories.

On that note, I voted for Hell is Other Robots.  The Robot Hell song MAKES that episode!

PCC Fred, I'm not really sure I agree with that.  I mostly find later seasons to be funnier (more inconsistant in 4ACV, but otherwise better overall).

To me (this goes in direct contradiction to what Mouse was saying) the main problem may be that some of the later Bender episodes tried to put him "on his own" and forget about the characters.  Bender's hilarious, but truth be told he's not the greatest at carrying a whole story, especcially when he's excluded from other characters (which is what happened in Obsolutely Fabulous and Pharaoh in many scenes for instance).  It becomes too dull and monotonous, especcially for a character who's best humor normally comes from his interactions from the other characters.

Agreed about Godfellas though.  Best Bender episode ever, easily.  In fact oddly enough that one does exclude him from other characters for a while, but thankfully it has him interacting with the mini-beings and "God" through most of the episode (and the stuff in the first act where its just Bender's wacky antics in space are well written enough to be funny for that short period of time).

I liked Obsoletely Fabulous, there were some good moments in that episode I really liked, particularily Robertos appearance.
And I liked Lisa:
Lisa: I for example, need to keep refilling my waterwheel or I'll power down forever. (Waterwheel stops) OH GOD! I'll never make it this time! This is the end!

For me it's got to be 'Bender Gets Made'. A criminally underrated ep, and features the unforgettable debut of the Robot Mafia, classic!

Ooo, hard choice, Its either Raging bender, Bendin' in the wind or Bender should not be allowed on tv, they all have that silly ability of making me laugh out loud (espicially after some beers)   :laff:

I'm gonna give it to 'Bender should not be allowed on tv'.

Hell is Other Robots does stand head and shoulders above the rest of these options, but this is probably due to the appearance of Beelzebot rather than Bender

I didn't think that about Ob Fab. There were many different aspects to Bender being on the island - trying to get help, running out of booze, finding the outdated robots and learning the evils of technology, trying to destory his enemy Robot 1-X and putting his friends lives in danger, trying to save them etc. etc. I thought it was a far broader Bender palette than Pharoah which is just 21 minutes of Bender cramming his desire to be remembered down everyone's throat or Bender's somewhat chauvanistic attitude to being a woman in Bend Her.

Gotta go with "The Honking." Very very VERY great episode. I'd say the weakest ep up there is "Bendin' in the Wind." Besides the song, this episode really wasn't that great, and it wasn't funny.

Oh so that one's Obsolutely Fabulous, eh?  :laff:

Yeah that was a good one.  But it still falls against the greatest Bender line ever:

"Have you ever tried turning off the TV, sitting down with your children, and hitting them?"

At least I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.  :laff:

HIOR for sure! It's one of my favorite episodes anyway. I loved the song, and the whole "religious Bender" thing cracked me up.  :laff:

If that wasn't up there, I'd vote BSNBAOTV. That one had me laughing the whole way through.

But if Godfellas was up there, I'd vote that. It was such a sweet episode. Sweet meaning cute. In a good way.

Hell is Other Robots. Beastie Boys, Robot Devil, the Robot Hell song... I mean, they even had robotic Baptists. You can't mess with the classics... Fry and Leela -centric episodes may have greatly increased in quality as the seasons passed, but Bender episodes generally stayed the same level of quality(not that that's a bad thing)... Still, Hell is Other Robots is a notable exception, standing apart from the rest.

For me, it's a tie between "Bendin' in the Wind" and "Bender Should Not Be Allowed on TV".
In BITW, Bender actually appears to have a moral concience. He tries to help hopeless robots, even though it all ends up blowing up in his face. I must admit that the final scene of the episode, Bender sticking a magnet to his head so he can live his dream out one more time, is actually a touching Bender moment.
As for BSNBAOTV, it was just hilarious.

I'm going to have to say Hell Is Other Robots - The song was hilarious:

Fry: I don't feel well...
Leela: It's up to us to rescue him!
Fry: Maybe he likes it here in Hell...
Leela: It's us who tempted him to sin!
Fry: Maybe he's back at the motel...
Leela: Come on Fry, don't be scared! I'm sure at least one of us will be spared. So just sit back and enjoy the ride -
Fry: My ass has blisters from the slide!

That bit always cracks me up, and I also love it when Bender's hugging Fry at Elzar's: mmmmmmm... mmm.... mmmmm... Fry, you're my friend...  :laff:

So yeah, Hell Is Other Robots, for sure. Although BSNBAOTV was pretty funny, and in my opinion, very much underrated.

"Hell is Other Robots." Most of these Bender-centric episodes are moderate to weak at best. Bender episodes, in season 4, generally weren't that great.
