What? They cancelled Futurama? Oops, i didn't know that. Forever???
I could understand if they would cancel the Simpsons because after Matt Gröning left they became really bad.

As for the original topic of this thread: when Futurama was placed on hiatus back in January 2002 the official reason was that FOX still had more than 25 unaired episodes (due to pre-emptions), in other words more than a seasons worth. FOX told Matt they wouldn't need a new production-season of episodes that year, but would get back to him the next year. Fans new this hiatus notice was the same as a death sentence since the team started to split up. A little over a year later the show was cancelled for good, but without any message from FOX. Futurama simply appeared on a list of shows "that wont be renewed for the next season".

Thanks for clearing that up.

A reason? Most likely?
An actual good reason? Most likely not.

Cartoon Network would buy it, but it's too expensive for them to produce, their budget isn't big enough for a show as expensive as Futurama (Estimates are about $1,000,000 per episode). -------------------------------- -------------------------------- man thats some price how come its so expensive and i still wonder what is used to make episodes

It's strange somehow, and I think there is only one reason why Futurama was cancelled...because there are not enough peole who watch it (which I cannot understand). First, when it was broadcasted here, at prime time, there were only a few viewers so it was moved to a very bad time. I think thats the same problem everywhere, isn't it? There is only a circle of loyal perverts like us.

It's amazing that Futurama and Family Guy were canceled, but how the hell did King of the Hill not get canceled? Futurama and Family Guy together could probably get 500x the viewers King of the Hill gets. After the Simpsons are off FOX, there is no hope for them.

Well, Family Guy has been resurected due to strong DVD sales. Production has started up again, and new episodes will air next year. Sad to say, Futurama doesn't have as strong a chance of this happening.
