Back to the review/discussion threads!

The usual tips/rules:
  • go away if you don't want to be spoiled!
  • special topics like weird scenes/plot problems go to special threads in the according boards.
  • no posting before it's 19:00 ET

Extra: The episode is written by Verrone. I know that he reads CGEF quite often and will most definitely check the reviews there on monday. So, take the four clicks and copy your review to this place, too once the episode is out. Discussion is better kept here.

Edited. sorry, i didnt see previous post.

ok its 7 pm ET now.

Review on  [4ACV12] - The Sting.

First, I have to say, that episode was one of the best episodes ever.  I really enjoyed watching it.
The episode made in a way, that you will never guess, how it will end.  The shocking effect worked great.  Although I guessed that Fry is alive, I didn't guess what really happened.
The romantic part was fantastic.  It was wonderful, how Fry tried to protect Leela from the bee. Their dates in dreams was so romantic although it wasn't in real life.  Scene in the end when he said "Wake up, Leela, please... just wake up ...Just wake up!..please" made my cry.  Fry was acting like a real man.
The quality of ideas and video effects is very high.  I like the part when Leela opens the coffin and sees other dimension.
   I love this episode.

This is a great episode. It has all the elements of a great episode. Humor, romance, sadness, happiness and craziness. I love it! Plus, there were many references to other episodes. My favorite parts are the funeral and the final scene for their coveyance of powerful emotions and humor as well. That's a big turn out for a delivery boy.

Great episode overall. I'll post a review of it (at CGEF) once I watch it at least once more.

Farnsworth saying "I made myself sad" was strangely hilarious.

Wow, confusing episode or what? The beginning was good, has enough jokes.

The middle was weirdly confusing, i loved the "Bee Happy" song, totally out-of-place, which is probably why it worked so well. The dream-sequences were done well, i loved the:

And then when she wakes up, throwing Nibbler off the bed, loved that gag.

The ending was great, the bit with Fry as the picture and Leela. Leela turning to Fry in her most desperate moments and when she wakes up, so emotional, truly great work.

Full marks, ranking nice and highly.

Loved it.
Great song parody, I was laughing out loud once I realised I recognised the first two lines, and the rest of it was really funny.
Strange episode, in as much as it feels very different to the others, which IMHO can be a good thing.
The end was very moving.  In a way. I'm sure not everybody will feel the same.
All the tonnes of references great and small to previous episodes was great though as well.  :D

Makes me even more sad to see the thing go  :(

Uhhh.... weird.  Not all that funny, really, aside from a few good jokes.  Maybe it's because I was trying to figure out what was going on w/ Leela...  The episode definitely had it's birght spots, including some good visuals.

I realized what was going on way too late - when the character's voices didn't match.  Up until that point I wasn't sure what was happening.

All in all, taken as a whole, the episode is pretty good.  I think that this is one of those episodes that will be better the second time around, and you'll pick up on things you didn't the first time.

Overall funny-ness: 4/10
Originality in terms of the series: 8/10

Overall overall: 7.5/10

I thought that this showed the Fry/Leela dynamic grow up in a big way.  In TWOF, Leela got to see Fry in a way that she maybe hadn't suspected before, now she sees that he really does care for her, and it looks like her dreams were her hearts way of telling her her true feeling for him as well.  I also like the jokes with the bees (you try keeping your figure after 10,000 kids).  But for me, this was a great shipperistic episode.  I just wonder if it'll all go to the wayside until Devils hands?

I loved that episode! One thing I liked was the "Farewell from the world of tomorrow!" from the guy that Fry met in the first episode... But how did Leela know about him? Also, wasn't the previous crew killed by space WASPS (and then eaten, according to the envelope)?

The only thing that I could say could make the episode better is if at the end, as it faded to the credits, Fry told Leela to wake up again. > :)

I liked it, yes sir-re bob...
Don't know why but I really liked it maybe its cause of lack of futurama and i miss it that the episode could be a still frame shot of just on the queen bee with no music in the backqround. I would still like it.

FREAKING AWESOME EP. Hillarious all thoughout, with excellend plot twists and a very well-written emotional drama.
Delving deep into Leela's mind was great. Seeing Leela go crazy was fun. "Ok. I'll find Fry's coffin, get his corpse, and put it under my mattress to remind me that he's dead. That'll prove I'm not crazy!"
Yeah, it was shippy. Extremely shippy, in fact. But that's a very, very good thing, especially considerring the lack of shippy eps this season, and the end of the series quickly approaching!

This ep gets 3 thumbs up and 11 out of 10 from me.

EDIT - Just want to add, this has been stuck in my head for some reason: I loved the inflection in Leela's voice when she said "It got through" at the end. Something about it got to me, somehow. I'm still trying to figure it out.

Great episode. Had a few dull moments here and there, but overall one of the best of McSeason 5.

I loved the idea of Leela going slowly going insane, and Fry's voice reaching through to her subconsciousness. The ending actually surprised me a bit, and some developments in the show threw me off. Great writing there, mr Verrone! I looked at the timer with about 4 minutes to go, and wondered how they would go about finishing it in time. I had a feeling it would involve Leela dreaming part of it, but not the whole thing.

The "Don't Worry, Bee Happy" song was one of the funniest so far in Futurama.  :laff:

My favorite moment was when Leela took the ship to get Fry's corpse. Sitting in the pilot seat, twitching and tripping her feet nervously, while saying: "I'll find Fry's coffin, get his corpse and keep it under my mattres to remind he's really dead. That'll proof I'm not insane." I nearly choked with laughter.

Lots of great jokes and moments, while not being a s shippy as I had feared. I liked how Nibbler was violently thrown around when Leela woke up.  :laff:

Great episode. Good job, mr Verrone. 5/5

This has got to be one of my favorite episodes!

I love it when farmsworth said "No, no, no" to Leela and then turned and said loudly, "I'm lying to her to comfort her!" That was so hilarious. And so was the musical number, especially when Zoidberg sang.

Plus, it was kind of sad and romantic, so that added a good touch also. I loved it.

This episode was very good.  Sure, some of the romance was a bit excessive, but the bizarre, unpredictable plot more than made up for it.  It wasn't one of the funniest episodes, but still had a good amount of humor.  I'd give it about a 9/10

Michelle (his old girlfriend), the woman he picked up at The Hip Joint in "Loves Labors Lost in Space", the radiator from "Lesser of Two Evils", Petunia from PYHOMS (although they never had snoo-snoo) and Morgan Proctor.

I liked the episode.  Tons of references to earlier episodes, including the box of Fry's stuff and all of his snu-snu women.

Anyone else notice the stuff Leela saw in her coma/dream was stuff in the room in the hospital with her?  The picture on the wall, the coat, the squeeze toy, etc.

Well written, good one liners.  Heavy on the romance, but didn't feel extremely forced.  I probably caught on to what was happening the first time Leela woke up from the dream inside a dream.

I loved it when leela woke up and nibbler would go flying! (i have a dog the size of nibbler and sometimes when i wake up in the morning i realize that i am have only 5 minutes to get ready so i jump out of bed and my poor little dog goes flying)

........and this ep has made me becoem a fry fan.......he is now one of my favorite characters!

That episode was good but they should have changed the ending. I think it would have made it the last episode if it was the person who was dreaming was fry and he was back in the year 2000
and was in a coma for three years. The whole show was a dream by him. I didn't write so why am I bitching?

I did really think it was that sad.

It was just as good as is I guess.A

Wow, that was a good episode!  I liked the strange twists and turns it took, and Fry's funeral was hilarious!  The stuff in the beehive was strangely unfunny though, except when the bee exploded.  That was great!  But the rest of the episode more than made up for that.  Funny, weird, and sad. (Especially the very end--touching.)  This show sure has gotten a lot more serious than it used to be, but that's a good thing.

What a great episode. I loved all the 'shippy' parts, and I had no idea how the episode was going to end, even though the writer threw in hints throughout. My favorite part was the amazon woman with "snu-snu" and all the other characters in the background going "meh". I was dying when I saw the radiator on the side. The part when Leela was going to find Fry's corpse was also hilarious.  :laff:

Yeah me too! that was the best. that and the "Don't worry be happy" scene was so funny.

I like this episode and it has those nice Leela and Fry moments. Bender as the bee was funny.

Great episode.  It just might move to the top of my list as best episode ever.

Started off a bit slow, but it really picked up.  Good 2001 parody.  Loved the snu-snu gag (just want I want at my funeral!), but the "he's alive" joke really had me rolling ont the floor.

It's been done, at least once.

Anyway,

Remember back when I said that Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles was the most bizzarre 30 minutes of television I've ever seen?  Yeah, this blew it away.  Bizzarre, but fantastic.  The 2001 reference - GREAT.  Scruffy - YAY.  Morgan - SEXXY WOOHOO.  I made myself sad - done before, but still good.

Definitely in my personal Top 10.

No! Dreams are lame. During this episode, I was wondering how they'd bring Fry back. "If it turns out the whole episode is a dream, that'll be lame" I thought.

Turns out, it was a dream. But luckily, it was done in a non-lame way. I thought it was cool how she woke up with his jacket and picture and all that.

The episode was great, I thought. I'll have to watch it a few more times to be sure, but it could be one of my favorites. I just hope the rest of the FOX Sunday night lineup will be as good as this.

...oh my god! A bonus King of the Hill! I am in comedy heaven!
