this has got to be the fastest growing forum yet.
i just watched this when i shouldve been in bed and i loved it so much i had to come on and declare it. While it might not have been the funniest episode ever, it is *certainly* the best written. This episode all came together PERFECTLY. And the shower joke at the end had me laughing way too loud this late at night. I'm gonna watch it again, right now

Fantastic Episode. Sadly, only 3.86 million people watched it. A perfect example on why Futurama shuld've been moved to 8:30 instead of 7:00

They don't. They're measuring the TV habits of a balanced segment of Americans, called the Nielsen families. These families have agreed to let the Nielsen company instal devices that register what programs and channels the tv is tuned into.

Later the company use those datas to extrapolate the ratings seen in newspapers, etc. Basically a select few of American viewers decide what the rest will have to endure.

At least that's how I understand the system.

ok, Star Trek overload. But a VERY GOOD Star Trek overload This whole thing was basically "The search for spock", or whatever movie where McCoy kept having the dreams that Spock was alive and no one believed him. Leela was McCoy and Fry was Spock. Except it went off when Fry regenerated from the jelly. Still, it played like a Farscape episode in terms of the constant confusion and parts that made you go "huh?" 5 stars. very good.

EDIT:

You're understanding of human anatomy is a tad different than mine. Usually when someone is pierced all the way through, many vital organs and vessels are torn and the individual dies. When someone just barely gets pricked, they tend to survive. Of course this fails to take into account any poison that may have been injected.

Not necessarily. Some dude got impaled in a construction accident and survived. They just cut off the pole a little bit underneath him, and trucked him off to the hospital. If they kept the stinger in, it most likely would've acted like a tourniquet, keeping pressure on the organs and blood vessels, inciting the blood to coagulate (that means to clot)and sealing the wound temporarily. Fry surviving that isn't that too-far fetched of an idea, because people have survived being impaled in this time, and they have much better medical advancements in Futurama. For the poison part, I guess the bee stung so fast none of the poison was able to be transfered to Fry.

The ending reminded me of Red Dwarf - "Back To Reality"

The RD crew was hallucinating from squid venom, rather than comatose from bee venom. The false reality scenes and the "concious" world trying to get through were there in both eps.

It could have missed his spine by a few centimeters. The stinger is a bit curved, after all. Besides, I'm sure they have all kinds of new medical technology in the year 3000.

maybe it's just me being morbid and way to detail oriented, but did anyone else notice the lack of blood? They were both wearing white shirts so blood stains should have been visable. i know the stinger remaining in Fry would have limited blood loss but it wouldn't have stopped it all together. And Leela definetely should have bled a little even if it was a small wound.

We didn't see a lot of blood on Fry because, as you said, the stinger blocked the blood flow and the scene faded out too soon. There probably was a little blood around the wound, but at the angle Fry's body was shown, it was obscured to us.
As for Leela - I'm sure she did bleed from that wound noticabley. In fact, after she collapsed immediately following the sting, she didn't get up. That's why we didn't see any blood on her other than a little prick - from the point where she got back up, it was all her dream. She didn't know how bad the wound was or that she was full of venom.

Yeah. They don't show spurting blood all the time, though the people get injured a lot. Particularly Fry.

And, ah, it could be Fry had several destroyed organs, but only felt the spleen was worth mentioning because it came from a motorcycle rider.

As for him not getting the poison... those things are controlled by muscle that squeezes the poison sac. So the bee didn't inject the poison till the stinger was in Leela. Simple.

Aaaand.... isn't it just possible that the envelope is mislabeled because...
1 - The professor is a doddering senile old man
2 - Someone else labeled it and sent it to the professor? Say a truck driver who ran into a space bee and found the career chips and mailed them off to him, since he was the registered employer?

Absolutely awesome ep, kept me guessing right till the end. It began great, and the whole bee hive thing was rad. Some of the shots and angles they used were just as sweet as the honey itself. The animation throughout this episode was absolute class, plenty of eye candy.

The story was so unique, but in a really cool way. Nice twists, some action, some humour, and lots of romance too. It was cool to see the whole P.E crew used. This ep really shows what advantages animation can have. I also thought the score was fantastic, it really helped convey the emotion, and maybe even the best score of any ep so far. I loved the whole thing. It does kinda set the impression of finality, but it's really deep, and felt a lot longer than it was.

Well i find when grilling thigh steaks that if you marinate in a really good teriaki sauce overnight, it generally tastes better then if you had used regular marinade. If you don't like teriaki then those little packets of Ranch Dressing Powder can be substituted. This goes real well with mashed potaotoes. If your feeling a bit bold, a brain casserole with a flesh peeling garnish can really earn you some attention at the next family reunion. just tell them its beef, they'll never notice the difference. they may wonder where Little Catie went but just smile and nod and insist she's simply off playing. After dinner make Mary bloo- uh, i mean make a Bloody Mary..everyone will love you for it. For more receipies watch Emeril and just substitute whatever meat product he uses for the flesh of your choice. Blood it up a notch BAM!

Best show on television/illegal download .

Well, I guess I'm in the drastic minority as this episode was not really my cup of tea. It was just too heavy-handed for my tastes. You can be plenty sweet and moving without getting melodramatic, which just gets oppressive in a show like this... and watching a strong person fall apart is disturbing to me more than anything. (And as one of my friends noted, it kinda felt like a Futurama fanfic, but many fanficcers tend to forget about comedy entirely...)
But I can't fault it objectively at all; it was very well-done and balanced, mood aside. It even had excellent jokes to keep people like me from complaining too much. Curse those wily writers!
