When Fry told Leela he loved her and then she turned the photo around to face her, was i the only one who was fully expecting her to say she loved him back?

i didn't actually hear that, too caught up in the moment, and then my stupid friend had to pick that point to say that she was REALLY trippin, then to go on and say he thinks he sees some green herbs in that honey. really ruined the moment, and i didn't see it. oh well, at least i have my tapes....

You were? She was under tons of stress, she was insane, she didn't know what the hell was going on, she didn't know what was real and what wasn't, and she had no idea what Fry meant when he kept telling her to wake up, which I'm sure compounded her frustration. "I love you too" is the last thing I'd have expected her to say. Maybe "I know" - maybe; although the natural course of action in that situation would be exactly the one she took.

It is totally within her character to not say or get around to saying "those words". It effectively keeps up the ambiguity (sp) and the does she?/doesn't she? tension that the whole relationship thing is built upon. It would have given away too much.

I wouldn't say that, SpiceWeasel. This episode made it pretty clear that she does, in fact, love him. If the fact that (in her mind) she had gone insane over his death didn't give it away, the romantic dreams her imagination manifested did.

I didn't expect it; I don't think she could say it unless they really get together. Maybe we'll hear it in "Devil's Hands."(That bugs me. We seem to have only one 'shippy' episode left, and they might not even get together in that. It isn't really being dragged out--not too much, anyway--but it seems that way because we know there are so few episodes left.) But as everyone pointed out, the way she says "It got through" somehow sounds very loving and appreciative, maybe sort of "It got through" to mean "I love you." More like "I know you love me", I'd say. (In the most positive way possible, of course.)

If that is so, then why should she be expected to say it in so many words? [This message has been edited by Spice Weasel (edited 06-02-2003).]

well the reason i was expecting her to was cause well obviously her dreams kind of confirmed that she did but she never told him and since she didn't know what was going on and if she would continue to see him i just thought she would want him to know in case she did never see him again. When someone dies don't the people left behind generally wish they had a final chance to say what they feel? and considering he 'died' trying to save her she would want him to know what that meant to her. i know it wouldn't really work with the rest of the series, and that the does she/doesn't she thing is a major plot point, but i was just in the moment and that was my first thought while i was watching it.

I just watched it on tape a few moments ago. Very good episode! The Honeycomb cereal part had me cracking up pretty good. They did a good job making a twisted plot flow well. The writers threw me pretty good when they brought Fry back by the combination of the royal jelly and his DNA in the couch. I was actually pretty pissed thinking "What a lame way to bring Fry back.". Then it turns out it was another hallucination! I really liked that they fooled me.There was some nice dark humor embodied in the song segment with everyone getting stung and exploding. Zoidberg's name in big lights was funny. Some great animation as well. I particularly liked when Bender exploded into a fireworks display and the 2001 graphics. Great episode!

Patric Verrone has done it again! He has yet again written an episode that the fans will treasure forever, like "A Fishful of Dollars" and "The (My) Problem with Popplers." This is truly an episode dedicated to the fans. I'm surprised no one has caught this yet: In one of the commentaries, Verrone makes a point that the word "underpants" is considerably funnier than "underwear." Thus, Fry says, "I've got jelly in my underpants." The plot kept you guessing to the end. Was Fry dead, or was the whole series all in Fry's dream (Probably not a good suspicion, but I saw how it could pan out.)? I suppose the line that captured my attention into the episode was, "Collect honey, just ordinary honey...This is no ordinary honey!"Edit: The animation! Oh, so perfect. The background of the honeycomb, the flowers in space (a la the houses in "The Route of All Evil" ), and, for the first time, I actually paused the tape and stared gaping at the animation after Bender was flying around on the stinger inside the Planet Express ship. We have been vindicated! (Re: 28 frames per second thread) The blurriness was just amazing! Motion blur extreme! (I think it's almost as good as the title sequence.) The episode had cheap jokes that came in there. But the story was overall funny, and it made it as one of the better episodes for comedic storyline. I mean, Leela going crazy over Fry? It's what Fry-lovers have wanted forever. Leela loves Fry; we know it now - or do we? Was it just guilt that Leela was feeling over killing Fry? So the episode leaves questions unanswered - another mark of a good episode. As Fry said, "Clever things make people feel stupid and unexpected things make them feel scared!" Well, I can say that feeling scared for the fate of Fry kept people in the game for the duration of this episode. This was an episode for the fans. There were so many throwbacks, including one that I don't think has been caught: the coffin was from "Fear of a Bot Planet" I believe. The Orbiting Meadows graveyard was from "Luck of the Fry(r)ish." Nothing was wrong with this episode, nothing was bad. I loved it. I watched this three times already (and I was being a Junior Marshal at my high school Baccalaureate service when it was aired). This is my perfect episode of Futurama. Yes, better than TWOF, which said a hell of a lot less than I expected. We knew Nibbler was there when Fry went in, we knew he lacked the Delta wave - we put it together without the episode. And, it wasn't that terribly funny. It was plot development, pure and simple. "The Sting" helped the plot and was an excellently-written episode; one of the funniest ever. 10/10. A+. We'll miss you Patric. Come write some fanfics (though they wouldn't really be fanfics...) for us sometime! I'd like to tell Patric Verrone that this is seriously the best episode of any TV show I have ever seen. It's all I could have hoped for in a TV show. [This message has been edited by SQFreak (edited 06-02-2003).]

It's interesting that lots of people assumed that Leela and Fry got together after the end of "The Why of Fry," but no one has said that about "The Sting," even though it's far 'shippier.' It does seem odd that Fry would just ignore Leela kissing him, but we all know that the events of one episode usually aren't discussed later and that nothing happens between episodes. Or if something did happen it would probably look like this:FRY: You kissed me! LEELA: Yes, now let us never speak of it again. FRY: Uh, okay? (Also see above comments about the last remaining 'shippy' episode.)

it was alot shippyer than alot of episodes, as for things never being brought up agian, time keeps on slipping would have really been a HUGE talking point for all future episodes, they really should have some better continuality. they keep on having the story trail off to some distant point and then the is the huge revert that sends up right back to the beginging. i have always hated that, especially in shows that seems to have a good overall plot, like leela not knowing who her parents are, or the leela/fry relationship, not to mention other things like the Amy/kif relationship. as for my tapes, i DO live in russia, but i have a direct satellite feed of american television, let's just say i have connections in all the right places...

Bender: "Oh. Your. God!"I don't think I can laud any more praise on this episode than what's already been done. It's definately top 10, probably top 5, and still very funny. The second act was weird and very "Jacob's Ladder"-y in a good way. A+ Fry: "Why am I naked and sticky? Did I miss something fun?"

I loved it. 10/10. I almost got weepy at the end.I really liked the call-backs in the funeral scene. The "Don't worry be happy" bit was great. Zoidberg's accent during his few verses was hilarious. Zoidberg: Women vomit when I schmile... I also laughed when Leela tore the Kleenex in two pieces, since one sheet would be designed for use by two eyes... save some for later. I just wacthed it and well there was no way in the whole episode that I saw that ending coming, that was awesome. The writing on this show is better than any other cartoon or possibly any other live action show on television. fox dont deserve futurama..benders line about "killing all humans except one" was really sad, espcially coming from bender. along with jurrasic bark and luck of the fryish this was a very emotional episode. 4.5[This message has been edited by mikey (edited 06-02-2003).]

Besides, these are space bees. Who knows what else is different from regular ol' earth bees. Also, I've spent about 18 of my 21 years of life with both bees and wasps, and wasps don't look anything like bees. ------------------ Persons attempting to find a motive in this post will be prosecuted; persons attempting to find a moral in it will be banished; persons attempting to find a plot in it will be shot. Hhmmm... Good one. I hadn't even thought of that. Logically speaking, there's no reason to say the two can't still be separate species. At least, not without further evidence to indicate otherwise. Maybe my celebration was premature? The Japanese have found that wasps do produce an edible substance that is highly beneficial to humans, although in some accounts, it is hornets. On the other hand, I think it was made clear that the last crew was killed by wasps, and it was the last crew's wreckage that they found in the beehive. So that would necessarily imply that it was the same crew and, hence, the same insects. Ergo, "bees" somehow equals "wasps" in this context. On third thoughts, maybe my celebration was punctual. quote: Originally posted by Cikboy: Who's to say that it wasn't Farnsy's first crew that was killed by the Space Wasps, then the second crew was killed by the Space Bees. That's something people say around here fairly often, but it has never made much sense to me. If a person who says this really feels that way, then why would he or she participate in the discussion at all? It's like losing a baseball game and saying, "the only reason I lost is that my opponent is an obsessed fanatic who lives for the game." Okay, but you still lost fair and square. He beat you because he was better than you, and he was better than you because he took it more seriously than you did. It's not a perfect analogy, because this isn't a competition, but you can see the parallel anyway. In other words, don't ever let anyone feed you that line on this or any other fansite. It's just a cop-out, a cheap shot and sour grapes, not to mention a fallacy. You came here to discuss, so discuss! Don't worry about how nerdy you'll look, because you branded yourself a nerd the moment you signed up. quote: Originally posted by blahness: maybe it is just a cartoon
