By the way, I was watching "The Lesser of Two Evils" today, and I thought this line was highly ironic (when Fry was discussing "Past-o-rama" ):"Nah. If I ever want to go back to the year 2000 I'll just freeze myself again". I acknowledge that it's highly unlikely this line was part of the "overall scheme" of Futurama, but it is interesting. Fry did want to go back to the year 2000 (or so  ) and he did freeze himself again. It's all a conspiracy, I tells ya !

Compared to the Simpsons, Futurama leaves my work virtually untouched. That section with Fry & Nibbler in the back alley didn't have a single thing changed in it. That's rare for me.
Leela going out with the (holds up badge) Mayors' Aide was kinda boring for me. The Fry plot was much better. *yoink* [This message has been edited by Sarge (edited 04-10-2003).]

I thought the Leela and Mayor's Aide romance was pretty funny actually.Thank you Allen for expressing your opinion (of my opinion ) in a respectful manner. I'm still dumbfounded to how someone would have to think twice about saving a world of people but that must just be me.

WOW! Weird, "Kif Knocked Up" was horrible, "Less Than Hero" was OK, "Leela's Hurdles" was good and now "Why of Fry" was phenomenol! It revealed the obvious from the pilot, and the not so obvious from "Jurassic Bark." Unfortunately, I missed the beginning, I jumped in when the Mayor's Aide took Leela to Elzar's. What happened before that?

*faints from sexiness, after seeing Sarge's drawings*I liked the Mayor's Aide. He sort of reminded me of a less quotable That Guy...he's sort of a one-joke character, but he's still very funny. And most importantly, they didn't overdo it. quote:

WOW! I'm absoluetely speechless! That episode absoluetely ruled so much! It was practically perfect, and absoluetely awesome! I loved the way everything got tied up, well appart from 'Hell is other Robots' and Nibbler being on the planet in 'Loves Labours Lost in Space'. Oh, and also how the Cryogenics building managed to stay intact, but I'm sure all that will get answered in 'Devils Hands'. They answered plenty enough in this episode, and also I thought it was really funny considering the stoyline, and then end was perfect, just like the episode  [This message has been edited by Otis P Jivefunk (edited 04-07-2003).]

I guess so, I've only just seen the ep for the first time  And yeah, the townie joke was class! And I'd have liked to see a bit more explantion of how the Nibbloians kept the building intact. And about Hell is other Robots, I meant where exactly Nibbler went in Hell is other Robots, like maybe a scene replyed form a new perspective or something *tries to bandage post back together*

CGEF has frame grabs up, but here's what happened: At the beginning, Fry is acting very serious, and tells Amy and Zoidberg how important he is to the delivery mission. Then the ship returns -- it seems Leela and Bender did the mission without him, and got medals too. Fry feels bad for not being there, but they insist they didn't need his help. Fry offers to take Leela out to make up for it, but she already has plans with Chaz, to whom Fry feels inferior. 'Devils Hands' isn't a follow-up to this Space Pilot theme.
However, The Sting, The Parabox, & Devils' Hands are 3 of the best scripts I read that year. Parabox is just...out there, & funny. The Sting & Devils' Hands are good Leela & Fry romance scripts. If they had kept production for another season, I bet they would've had Fry & Leela actually get together. [This message has been edited by Sarge (edited 04-07-2003).]

My all time favorite is The Sting. It has that "What the hell is really going on here?" feeling throughout it all. Sort of a Jacobs' Ladder thing.

I fianlly got to see it!
Absolutely awesome!
One thing gets to me though, Im a firm believer that its impossible to change anything due to time travel, because if u change something u negate your reason to change it in the first place, so fry changing the "Scooty Puff Jr" thing kinda gets to me, but apart from that a really good episode.Whats with people saying this episode isnt funny? I very rarely find anything funny enough to laugh out loud, but this one had me hooting, the funniest bit I found was a simple joke, the footage of fry trying to bite a pineapple on a string that the nibblonians were displaying on the wall, I still laugh out when I think of it! awesome ep I must say.

I agree, that said more than the kiss itself. Also people have mentioned that Leela spent the whole evening ignoring Fry, not true. When She and Chaz were at the skating rink she mentioned somewhat sentimentaly that Fry stood on line for six hours just to buy her a ticket. The more that date progressed the more she missed Fry, me thinks.

I liked this episode... Time travel episodes are very hard to write. Writing was amazing, very very packed into a 30 minute format. I am not a big shipper, saw what happened with the X-files shippers got their way and then most of the fans who weren't shippers stopped watching. This how ever was great, every one is in character and it was really sweet. Great Episode.

X-Files is kinda a bad example to go on. They handled it in a way that upset everyone. They let them get together which made the non-shippers mad. Even though they were 'together' you never saw them together which made the shippers mad. Then they removed Mulder from the picture all together which made Everyone mad. And they added the baby, which also made everyone mad. Exchanging Mulder for the baby was not worth it, and then they gave the baby away when they shouldn't have added him in the first place. No one came out of the X-Files happy. They would have gotten a better response if they had let Mulder and Scully get together, KEEP them together yet not make the entire show revolve solely around the relationship but also making sure it wasn't forgotten about or neglected.

Also, remember: for years and years, Chris Carter held the official stance that a relationship would kill the show, and Mulder and Scully are married to their work, and they are just friends, blah blah blah, romance can be shown by simple hand-holding, they don't need to have sex, blah blah blah.Then they got together. Sucky, I say. On Futurama, the Fry/Leela thing has been a pretty well established plotline, introduced way back in season one(or two, if you want to get all FOX-ey on us). Even if the romancey stuff makes you sick, at least you won't feel like the writers sold out on you.

Well no, but they did make some new internet shorts! I think it got cancelled again though. Pretty soon, they'll have new episodes drawn flip-book style on the corner of a composition notebook. Maybe it has been an important episode, but this was the fourth time they used the idea, that Leela should fall in love (or something similar) with some seemingly impressive guy, only to realize in the end that that guy is actually a jerk and that Fry is a better friend then she thought.
A good point doesn't get better by repeating it all the time.
And that is why The Why of Fry was just good. but not great.

Awesome drawings, Sarge  After seeing this episode a few more times, I just love it even more. I think the funniest moment is when Fry and one of the brains have this conversation: Brain:You could stop the Nibblonian from pushing you into the cryogenic tube
Fry:The is interesting …Why? The way he says it is class The Nibblonians were really funny too. And that townie joke was class, although I didn’t like how it was directed at Fry. The whole episode flowed so brilliantly, and after watching it some more I’ve realised what a wonderful score it has too. It’s so great to finally know why Fry is there, and how it all actually happened. I just love how in Futurama you can have such plot heavy episodes which are brilliantly told and so engrossing. I think this is probably the most engrossing Futurama so far. Wonderful plot with twists and depth, and plenty of those ‘How is Fry gonna get out of this?’ moments. Combine that with great humour, some emotion, and a sweet romantic ending and you get an almost perfect episode. I also really liked the animation, especially of the infosphere. I found that it reminded me a little too much of the Death Star in ‘A Clone of my Own’ though, but still, awesome. I’m just so thankful that Fox ever actually showed this episode quote:

I guess it isn’t such a bad thing that ‘Devils Hands’ isn’t a follow-up to the Space Pilot theme, after all, that’s been done now in ‘The Why of Fry’. I’ve got to admit that it crossed my mind that it might have had a little something to do with where Nibbler went in ‘Hell is other Robots’, because that had the Robot Devil, and this one does too. But I guess that wasn’t anything too important. But I’m kinda glad it’s not a follow-up to the Space Pilot theme, because that was all about Fry, but for potentially the final ep, it should be about everyone. I’m extremely looking forward to ‘The Sting’, The Parabox and Devils Hands, they all sounded some of the best from the descriptions, I just hope they see the light of day. I’m hoping for plenty of cool CGI in ‘The Sting’ too. quote:

I though that was a very cool episode. The jokes were thick and fast but they did not need to be. Now we understand why Fry has the Dela brain wave and how he got frozen.
