i dont think its the best, but its certainly one of the best episodes of trhe series. It was a touching episode that really showed us the love and deep emotions in Fry's mind. It was emotional, sad, but of course, it did have its funny parts. Just like the Sting, this episode manages to merge funny and emotional elements to make it so memorable. ------------------

My sentiments exactly. I can understand the complaints by some (although I in no way agree with them), but like it or not, this episode is, in my opinion, flawless. The flashbacks are great, the future...err...present scenes are great, and the ending is so emotional and tearjerking that it simply pushes this one over the top. Also, Bender's jealousy and eventual heroic rescue of Seymour was pulled off very well. The episode was also funny when it had to be, but it is definitely a plot- and character-driven episode. This is the episode that proves that Fox is the dumbest group of people ever assembled for having cancelled Futurama. For shame.

That's the most ridiculous thing I heard all day! I don't like KOTH because A) the characters are boring and/or unlikeable, B)the jokes are non-existant and C) plots too formulaic to make up for A and B. I couldn't give a rats ass about who voiced those characters. quote:

Jurassic Bark is definatly one of my favorite episodes. Its just got everything you want jokes, story, and a great ending although sad but great. On a side note... KOTH shouldn't be mentioned on this board that show isn't anything close to comedy in fact it's the opposite of comedy! thats all I have to say about KOTH...

You know John, the people who acted in a show have absolutely no bearing on the writing of it. And just because one thing came before another, or gave somebody fame doesn't mean it's any good.

Jurassic Park is my all time favorite episode.I like Seymour he is so cute.I thought the ending was sad where he sat there waiting 4 Fry.Then Seymour died.

It's one of my faves, it's easily the most emotionally-charged ep of the show, and it's got some great comedy thanks to Robo-Puppy and Bender.

I realize this thread was bumped from quite a while ago and I browsed through some the old posts. Someone may have mentioned this before, but if not here it goes. We see Seymour is simply left alone after the whole act of Bender rescuing him. Do you think it's possible that out of senility the Professor put Seymour in his freezer and that he could still possibly be cloned? I know the ending upset a lot of people, so I merely bring this up as a small glimmer of hope. Of course some viewers might put this scenario in their worst Futurama nightmares (in reference to a recent thread.)

In THe Sting, Seymour is seen at Fry's funeral.So he hasn't been destroyed, he is just still in his dolomite form

When I discovered Futurama, my wife hated it - just another sci-fi show that I found (poor woman has had to endure going to DragonCon with me). She found me watching 'Luck Of The Fryish' and she wanted to know if there were other eps like that (chick flick types). After watching 'Jurassic Bark' and 'The Sting', she became an ardent Futurama fan.My opinion: If anyone can watch any of the above named eps and not shed a tear, then that person has no heart. An observation from my wife: The heart-tugging eps were Fry-based; did Groening have any plans to do any Leela based tear-jerkers (and I have mentioned 'Leela's Homeworld' to her. A tear-jerker is a good way to go for any series - it keeps the characters from becoming stale and one dimentional.

Gaaa... I saw this post and decided it would be a good idea to watch it. I forgot how good it is. Just stop it before the end. I remember the first time I watched it was with a friend and when it got to the end we just sat there, silent, for like ten minutes. Futurama rocks.Made me wonder though. How many Futurama episodes have unhappy endings? All I can think of now is Jurassic Bark, Time keeps on slippin, and Parasites Lost (bittersweet, not really sad). I'm not sure if I can include Luck of the Fryrish. Its more touching than sad.

This just came to mind because of the tear-jerkers poll, but I meant to post it when I first saw the episode. The story of Fry and Seymour reminds me a lot of the story of chu-ken Hachiko, a famous real-life dog from Japan. Hachiko belonged to a professor at Imperial University named Ueno Eisaburo, who brought the dog to Tokyo in 1924. He used to follow him to the Shibuya train station every morning, and then wait for him to arrive in the evening. But in 1925, the professor was taken ill at work and died. Hachiko waited for him every evening at the train station for ten years before he died on March 8, 1935, right there on the spot where his master last left. But during that time, he had become a familiar sight at Shibuya, and his story became famous as an illustration of the importance of loyalty and friendship. Even before he died, they had already erected a statue to him. It was melted down during the war, but recreated in 1948. He even has his own gift shop now.

KOTH is a very funny show if you actually watch it and get to know the characters a little bit. It is kinda weird seeing so many Futurama fans killing what really is a funny shoe for the same reasons many people didn't get Futurama. Anyway Jurassic Bark is one of the best episodes ever and i think it would go in most Futurama fan's top 5. It has some of the greatest depth of story and comic relief of any episode ever.

This is one of my favorite episodes. It shows that a cartoon comedy like Futurama can have emotion and be sad. It's not just plain comedy. The Simpsons can do this as well. I've never seen an episode of Family Guy, American Dad or South Park that could do that. That's just pure comedy. That's what puts Futurama above these cartoons for me. While I didn't cry at this episode and I didn't have to turn it off, it was emotional and one of the best episodes. And when Bender says, "That's why they call me Bender the Magnificent!". That was a great moment. Top stuff from the Futurama creators here. Fry didn't clone his dog because he thought he would have forgotten about him and lived the rest of his life. Then we find out he was wrong at the end. The dog had been waiting for him. That's just great. Great writing I mean. Yeah it's sad and all but it's what puts Futurama above shows such as Family Guy where it's just comedy.
