Leela preparing to rip off the top half of her leotard - you get quite a peek. Teeheehee, I'm a cartoon ogling pervert.

Leela kicking Amy's butt was funny as well as provocative. You just know Leela is loving it, with the animosity between her and Amy.

Zoidberg bursting out of the box and getting smacked was great.

Bender came out and said "THAT'S why the call me Bender the magnificent!" which tied in nicely with earlier when he told Fry "Naw, that's not why they call me bender the magnificent".

Right after that, I got a real laugh from "Hey, where'd everybody go?"

The music and dancing early on were excellent, and Leela's book about the tribal rituals of the Bronx or whatever was a nice little joke to add.

And everything the professor said was great, more or less.

And the dog thing hit close to my heart... I've got two black labs, and one is 10 years old, with inoperable cancer. She'll be dead in a few months, we're pretty sure. Which is a real shame, I love my dogs.

Seymour's story can be taken to have other meanings too - that Fry is an alright guy. His family was a bunch of louts, but he was still kind to the dog and earned its undying love.

I remember reading another story like that, a dogs owner died when the dog was 2, and for 16 years that dog went to the pub where his owner brought him, ate a steak they gave him, and went to his owners grave and sat there, only to do it again the next day. When the dog died, they buried him next to his owner and named the graveyard after him.

I 've heard of another similar story about a street dog Patrasche, and his owner Nello, in the city of Antwerp (Belgium). They even made a movie of it. Here

Regarding the scene with Amy and Leela wrestling, I thought it was intentional that they were integrated into the plot without any reason- actually, that is what made it so funny. To me, It seemed like a parody of shows which integrate sex without any necessity. Especially since their explanation regarding the reason for their wrestling was so ridiculous.

I don't have any strong feelings about this ep. I think Fry did the right thing by opting not to clone the dog. If those last scenes hadn't been shown, a majority would most likely agree. Hindsight is always 20/20 and we got to see what Fry didn't. If I were in Fry's place, I would have done the same thing. Also the dog died at the age of 15. He couldn't have lived much longer if he was an exact clone. Also, I don't think that it would have been quite the same, regardless of having the same memories.

Plus, he would have memories of his own death. It's one thing to have been frozen, quite another to realize you had already died.

Besides the sad aspect of the ep, I quite enjoyed it. I didn't cry at the end. Instead I screamed at Fry for missing that delicious opportunity to observe Leela and Amy wrestling in sexy outfits. I also screamed at Fry's parents for being within 2 inches of their missing son and just walking away. I could have gone the rest of my life not knowing his parents had almost seen him and done nothing. Yes, I know there wouldn't be a show if they had, but that was just stupid.

If he was anything like Cubert (who is made by the same machine and - technically - Farnsworth's exact clone) then he certainly would have at least 15 years to live.

As it was it ended kinda sad, but such unpredictable endings are what we love about Futurama, right?

Let's get the bad points out of the way first.

The extra shadow bothered me too. This is not AOI I, it's supposed to be exactly like in SP3K. But maybe it'll be explained in "The Why Of Fry", much like Nibbler's shadow in SP3K really wasn't explained until "The Day Earth Stood Stupid".

Although they're out of touch with reality, even Fry's parents should be able to see Fry in the cryogenics tube when they kneeled beside Seymore. Would've worked better if the cryogenics employee picked him up, and handed him to them.

Sadly Hermes is missing.

Now that my inner nitpicker has been satisfied onto the good parts:

Good story, and nicely woven together. The flashback scenes worked really well here as well.

Farnsworth finally descending, litterally, into the mad scientist role. Hillarious lines there. His annoyance when he's ignored, despite he's the intelligent one, was brilliant as well.

Farnsie's fascination with dolemite was excellent. "By contrast; observe the lavas effect on this ice-swan. Offcourse that would've melted even at roomtemperature, I just wanted to get rid of it." "It's dolemite, baby!"

Good walkonparts of Scruffy, even Cubert was alright. I loved the toe-part for some reason.

Fry's dad was great. Talking about Y2K's prowling the streets, looking for innocent victims, transforming into SCUD-missiles and exploding riwers.

Bender and Zoidberg's parts was great. "You lived before you met me?" "Interesting, no the other thing; tedious."

Fry and Seymore. Good evolvement of Fry's character, he's actually doing the right thing. So sad. Although you gotta wonder why Seymore never came up before. At least he should've asked Michelle about him. Very good show, with a rather sad ending. Not tear-jerking like "Luck Of The Frysih" and "Leela's Homeplanet", but sad nonetheless. I've never liked dogs, so that might be why the ending didn't seem so emotionally to me. I liked the sad story, but couldn't relate to it.

Well, it looks like we've seen the first hints of the spiced up Futurama. May I just say, I like it!! Oh my, yes I did. Someone said it's probably a reference/joke about shows putting scenes like this in on the flimsiest of reasons, just listen to Leela's half-hearted explanation. Still it was a great scene. And ofcourse we always knew Leela could kick Amy's butt from here to Mars with one eye closed, and she did seem to enjoy it. How about that, little miss "Womansizes"?

Overall, marvelous episode. 9.5/10. I'll give it top-grade on PEEL's vote-thingy.

I always thought that the glass in Fry's cryogenic tube was covered with enough frost to obscure his face. After all, when Fry worked in the cryogenics chamber, he often had to wipe away the frost with his hand to see in. It could just be that the ice made it too difficult to see inside.
