I would have to agree with you aslate. "A Flight To Remember" was very good and seemed fresh despite being based so heavily on the film Titanic.

Yeah same here. my best spoof is from Bendless Love in wich Bender and Angalyne did a scence from "Ghost" where he helps her bend a girder.
          

I loved the 2001 parody in "Love and Rocket".

Kryten!  Teral puts it in a spoiler section, and you just yell it out!  Though it was very good.

I prefer homage or parody to "ripoff".

I'm not a fan of having entire episodes spoofing other movies, but Fry & The Slurm Factory rocked. Love & Rocket was good too, I guess, but it wasn't very parody-heavy.

 

Family Guy also did one and was more accurate

I actually saw that. It was more accurate, but the gags were pretty lame(wow, they are farting instead of burping, what a bunch of fucking geniuses), and they completely abandoned it midway through. I honestly wonder if fox accidentally showed the second half of a completely different episode that night. It was like the worst of the Simpsons x20.

For me the best parody they did on Futurama was Wizzin' from the Anthology of Interest II episode. I really liked the use of so many different characters in all the different roles like Mom as the witch as well as Scruffy. Amy as the good witch and the assorted characters portraying the munchkins.
Great segment and based heavily on that segment it makes AoI II one of my all time favorites and I don't even like the Wizard of Oz!

Rethinking it, I guess Love & Rocket did have a good amount of parodyness. But still, I have a feeling the story came first, and the parody came later. (they already have a story about the ship's personality, so they might as well do some HAL related gags).

With the other episodes, it seems more like a case of the writers saying "hey, why don't we just do a parody of Willy Wonka/Titanic/whatever?" and then writing an episode about it.

Of course, I'm just speculating here, and whenever you "speculate" you make an "ass" out of "u" and "me". But whatever.

I noticed that too but i think that you would end up with just a red blur in the middle of them and that would make it worse!

With all the great parodies mentioned, the execs at Fox must be brain dead and stupid for not seeing great TV in this show! 

It's not TV or movies, but I like the way they paid homage to the classic video games in "Anthology of Interest II". Zoidberg makes a great Pac-man.

War is the H-Word did a really good job of parodying Starship Troopers.  Only instead of joining the army to become a Citizen it was joining the army to save $0.02   

The IGN review praises iHawk for that bit. They were saying that he shows what M.A.S.H. is in a nutshell. You don't even need to bother with that show.

I also like how "A Big Piece of Garbage" parodied Armageddon. I guess Fry was the one with space dementia.

Fry and the slurm factory. I get the feeling that the better parodies are the wittier ones. (which obviously isn't going to be family guy)

Another small parody - in I Second That Emotion, the mutants worshipping an atomic bomb is taken from "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" (don't bother renting it, it's really crap)

There's still more - at the end of Garbage, they play We'll Meet Again from the end of Doctor Strangelove, Mainframe was a parody of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and (tenuous link) the title "Problem with Popplers" sounds like the original Star Trek episode "The Trouble with Tribbles". But I'm still waiting for a Futurama parody of Pulp Fiction.

Here's a weird one ... watch the part in Love & Rockets with the dummies from Romanticorp. Look like they're made of chickenwire and they're used to test emotional responses? The part where Zoidberg sticks to the window is exactly like the part in ID4 where you don't see the alien and then all of a sudden it pops up against the glass. Funny stuff.

Yeah, come to think of it, it might be a bit thin. Besides as I recall it, it was Dr Okkun, not the alien that slammed against the glass in ID4. Originally the bit also made me think of a small part of "Aliens", where the space marines finds the laboratory, with the face-thingies in jars. One of the marines take a closer look at what he thinks is a dead alien, and suddenly it moves against him, scaring the s*** out of him.

Now that's a stretch-and-a-half.
