I set PEEL back to normal mode.

CGEF is now running at the new server so that PEEL can eat all the resources of the old server. We'll see if everything works fine. So, back to normal posting!

PS: I might try to disable the rarely working site search for the time being...

unpeel has also been locked up, though I've left the NationStates forum open for the time being, since it will make it easier if anyone wants to copy over critical info (once it's read-only you can't edit posts, and a select-and-copy would clobber images and formatting).

Dammit, now we can't tell n00bs where to find a thread about Nibbler's shadow...


And it worked fine for me, although a little slow. Perhaps now that PEEL and CGEF are on different servers the search function would be faster than usual. Posting and editing seem to be going faster, and I haven't heard of any disappearing posts since the CGEF server switch.

marc: been getting intermittent "Cannot load page" errors all day today, so far a single refresh has bought the page back up just seems like about 1 in 20 requests is failing the first try.

that should affect only the main page, right? 'cause I'm getting the fails on forums and threads, not on the main forum list page (which I don't load nearly as often).

Can you give me the exact URL of something failing + the time of access (as accurate as possible)?

Next time it happens I will, it seems random though and as I said, I just refresh and it immediately loads.

If nobody else is having the same problem, it's probably MY network connection, which has been giving me a lot of problems lately.

ok, not just my internet, I just had the same thing happen here at work (different computer, different internet connection)

clicked on the page 8 button from the offtopic forum view, the url was http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/12-002769-8/

it was immediately after bear's post at 13:43.

It successfully retreived the header of the page, but no posts displayed and it gave an immediate "unable to communicate with server" error. I hit F5 and the page loaded fine the second try.

Would be good if someone else who sees that error could respond. I'm still not sure if it's PEEL, the server or a network problem. The only access logged from you around that time is at 19:44:36 and it did deliver the full page (6930 bytes gzipped). If it's the server, or the network, maybe the move to the new server will solve that.

and again. Same thread as last time, but I think that's just a coincidence. All three today have been within 1 minute if the last new post to the thread, while only the last 2 were on the drinks thread.

Probably when PEEL 2 opens.  For now, you can use Google... just type site://www.peelified.com after your query.
