Those of you easily pissed of by incoherently phrased newbie-type questions, please stop reading now   :)

I'm currently making a Futurama website (in notepad, using HTML), and I'd like to know a good free host that I can upload it to straight from my PC (preferably uploading the whole folder which contains all of the pages [html files], and subdirectories for images, as I don't want to have to change any internal links), with as few modifications as possible. I'd also like to be able to work on a page offline, then upload the new page when I'm done and have it automatically overwrite the old version.

Basically, I want free hosting that will allow me to upload my site and have it work just like it does now when I open it up on my computer. Possible?

I'd appreciate any suggestions   :)

Also, sorry again for this rubbishly written post.

Try ringing up your ISP, a lot of the time they will sell cheaply/give webspace on request, and it's usually pretty fast too, you might even get lucky like me and find out that you had some to begin with.  :D

Other than that, tripod.uk might be a shot, 50mb of space on the free plan, but not all that fast... But i'm sure someone will come up with something better...

Banner-free. 100MB of space. I can't remember just how much bandwith you can get, but it's not bad...

A Futurama site. Cool. There are so many, but one more won't hurt. Woof!

If you go to FreeWebspace.net, you can search for a free webhost that has what you specify.

Thanks all! At the moment I'm trying out the host Pikka Bird suggested, and once my site is up and running I'll give it its own thread.

In the end I went with angelfire. It has banner ads, but at least the FTP upload works properly!  :p to free.hostdepartment!
