Wait a minute. Thanks for the good comments about CGEF - but personally, I believe that sites like Futurama World are mainly there to develop web design skills. A few years ago, I had a site similar to that (anyone semember TSAF AU)? But i would not say that is the worst. The Best - in my eyes, was, and always will be, TSAF - There's Something About Futurama. This site had everything. It was around at the same time as the chronicles was great and the futurama archive was brilliant (in it's second layout, which i still think was the best). It was about the 16 of April 1999, the peak of Futurama sites on the net. Anyway - what do you think?

hey josh.
Well there is no doubting that CGEF is the best futurama site out there. As for TSAF. i never actually got to see the site 'coz i never had the internet when it was around. I noticed though that all the 'old' futurama sites contained the TSAF support button so it must've been a big site.
Thanx 4 replying.

TSAF was sort of like...if you can imagine CGEF about a year ago, with dedicated webmasters (as great as slimmy of CGEF and Marcelo of FLA) and a lot of multimedia!
It make a massive impact on the Futurama community, and i think most people will never forget it (aw, i'm starting to cry..he he)

later ! - josh

Hey Josh/Chris!!!

I had a feeling this topic would come up somewhere along the line and Thats why I set up my Site; The Futurama Oscars. I know some people hate me and hate it but I really wanted just to be friends with the rest of the people in the Futurama Community, I think everysite deserves its respect from its visitors and People shouldnt be fighting or ranting about Other Sites. Anytime I see a fight or a rant about any Site, Including my one, I just ignore it. Its up to you to get the best out of your Site. It doesnt matter what other people think. Its how you enjoy building your Site and If you know you can build a good unique site, just do it. Dont be afraid of these people/sites were they "rant" about other sites, They're not worth it, They show how badly mannered they are and people begin to reshape their character because of this crap. Chris, I think your Site is coool, its very well layed out for a homestead site and i think it will do pretty well with the work given. Josh, what I have seen from your Site is very good! and I cant wait til its fully up, I will probably be a full-time visitor!
The Futurama Outlet and CGEF seem to be the two at the top but FRCR is kinda going down from lack of Updates which I hope there server problems are fixed soon. There is also a new Site called futuramauk at http://www.futuramauk.co.uk  and i think thats pretty good but it needs work. TSAF was brilliant even though I didn't get to see all of it but I liked sites like these and also The Futurama Source has to be one of the best Futurama Sites EVER. Sites like these will never be forgotten, but we have to move on and let other people enjoy the spotlight, Like Chris, If you went through his Site, you would find interesting things like Y3KTV and i thought that was brilliant. Its things like this that make a Site Unique and brilliant.

Just think of your own Ideas,

Happy surfin,

Kind Regards,
David McGee

Thanks for your wonderful and very kind post, Dave =).
I have to admit that no sitw will be as big/biger than CGEF no matter how hard they try. And I can remember The Futurama Source it was also a very cool site.
I have visited Futurama UK. At the moment the layout is a bit messy but will get better and better with time.
I also know that Dave's 'Futurama Oscars' does get alot of criticism but it will be a good links site, even if they're are too many.
Well, Bye!!

I think it is mean to say which site you think is the worst, but CGEF is by far the best. There aren't even any other sites that have episodes that actually work! (do you guys no where there are any?)

P.S What is the url for your site dave?

I love cgef and it is the best site but I think TFO comes in a very close second, If they had the episodes (they strongly believe that episodes should not be web, They are more into teasers that promote the show) they might be closer.

I also think that the futurama point is very good for only one person working on it.

I couldn't have said it myself, Josh! CGEF was made with TSAF in mind, and was a strong influence in making the site. Firstly, TSAF had a very nice "blue" design going on, making the other sites look pale and sterile in comparison. They also used the word FUTURAMA in the official futurama font for the logo. Frequent updates by friendly webmasters, and frequent design changes so the site never gets stale. I owe everything I have ever done for CGEF to John Szymanowski, Matthew Riley, and Chris Jean-Louis. Thanks guys...CGEF is a living tribute to There's Something About Futurama!!! It's cool that people actually notice the similarities  smile

TSAF was, I think, tied for the best Futurama site ever.  It was comparable in quality to what CGEF is now.  It had excellent designs, and cool ideas.

I still remember it counting down till when season 2 began.  That was cool.

And I really like all the designs, especially the last two before it was closed.

I like this Planet Express Service Station Site by Andy McDermott.
Good, Plain and printable GFX and Design.
Loads of humor and not to forget the hard work Andy must have had with this Site, checking out all the Details with the Ship and so on.

almost all futurama sites fucking suck. this site is not that bad, even though once it gets a C&D letter for all its episode downloads there is going to be nothing good at this site. all the other downloadable stuff at this site is very poor quality and there is assloads of it. every time i download something from this site, I always end up deleting it because its just so shitty. well except the episode downloads, but of course it's not made by this site, just ported over to computer video. TSAF was a good site , but where are they now? and once again if the episode downloads had not been on that site it wouldn't even be visitable and the design? absolutely too fucking plain.
Futurama is an awesome show and most of these futurama fansites don't do it any justice. The Futurama Archive used to be the shit, but it was abandoned. The only cool thing left on that site is the 3D stuff which noone makes anymore. these sites need more 3D support like South Park sites have. Aaron D is not at planet futurama anymore and now the site is getting better quality updates. the futurama outlet is one of the best sites that do futurama. the graphics design on that site is fucking impressive although they need to redesign. they have had that same design or something similar for a whole fucking year. when i email those guys it takes forever for them to reply. they have quality updates and even without episode downloads the site still fucking kicks ass, although if it had episode downloads on the site it would redeem these futurama sites. i don't know why the guys at the outlet are such asses when it comes to episode downloads, but they are doing everything else right. The futurama chronicles, the only site that will never see a C&D letter, is the shit when they update. and when they do their update ,once a fucking month, its worth a look. The futurama web, just too little content and it reminds me of every other futurama site, although it's a wannabe everything site. The Amy Wong site and the Planet Express ship site now those are very original sites, the guy can draw the characters pretty decent and draws them in refreshing different poses and shit. well that's my shitty outlook on futurama sites and if i didn't mention a site, it's because it sucks shit so bad it's not even worth mentioning.

Hehe the "shitty" look to sites had me ROTFL!!! Hey, why don't you take on other sites while you're at it? Go to Planet Roadmap for inspiration (then say it's a shitty site that doesn't have a search engine  wink)

Hehe oh well. The best site is CGEF. The worst site? Just pick one of the five million pages that have three Futurama pictures, and a description of the show.

Read you later!

As long as we're talking about good and bad sites lets discuss sites that take on the responsibility of deciding what is a good or bad site.  If places like Futurama Elite, The Top 50 etc are going to rank your website then the least they could do is update on a regular basis.  The Futurama Top 20 has me ranked under The Futurama Dome - and it's shut down!  The Top 50 still has my old web design showing and Futurama Elite still hasn't told the world I exist (yes, I filled out the form).
LISTEN UP:  If you're going to rank the entire Futurama Community then do it.  But be prepared to shoulder the burden like a professional.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to pour cereal on my head and have breakfast.

Whoa, calm down!!  First of all, don't except there to be 500 extremely high quality Futurama sites with everything you could ever possible want.  It's not going to happen.

And to run an excellent site, it takes TIME.  Like MANY HOURS A WEEK.  Not everyone has the time to run a "perfect" site.

The episode downloads are very popular at CGEF, but they aren't the only thing keeping the site together.  CGEF was getting about 1000 hits a day before they oven provided episodes.

And, if
Quote
Futurama is an awesome show and most of these futurama fansites don't do it any justice
then do something about it!!!  You don't have the right to put down every other site out there for not providing everything you want, when you do absolutely nothing for the show either.  Email me when your run the best Futurama site, and then you can complain some more.

And what exactly do you mean by this?
Quote

Aaron D is not at planet futurama anymore and now the site is getting better quality updates

(Yes, I am Aaron D.)  I could care less what you think about my updating, but I dont see what you're getting at by that comment.  What's happening is that Jason Barnabé, the webmaster, has been spending more and more time on the site trying to improve it.

And quit whining about sites having the same design for too long.  Yes, they do get plain after a while.  But I don't see you volunteering to re-design any.

In conclusion, QUIT COMPLAINING, GET OFF YOUR ASS, AND DO SOMETHING TO HELP OUT THE FUTURAMA COMMUNITY!

Is this topic getting old or am I just hallucinating?

I can see you really don't know anything about site making, "Alan Steeres". No offense or anything. Well, Aaron said enough already, I'll just stick to the topic. My favourite site must be CGEF. I know, this has been heard a gillion times before. Some more original content wouldn't be bad though. For some reason, I also like visiting all the toplists. They somehow give a bigger picture of the Futurama Community. All of them could also make up something original, "list", "s.o.t.w." and "about" is just not enough.

Very true.  It takes a while to learn the "do's" and "dont's" of webmastering, and, you can't expect someone to make an incredibly awesome site on their first try.

In fact, when I first started Planet Futurama (now Planet Roadmap), I stole about 20 framegrabs from the Outlet, and linked directly to them {at the time I didn't know i shouldn't do that}.  I got an email from the Outlet's webmaster asking me to remove them, and I did.

Luckily, the Outlet's webmasters are really nice, and they helped me out with a lot of stuff I didn't know how to do, and they gave me lots of suggestions and ideas as to how to improve my site. [thanks to Robert, Stephan & Darrell]

Oh, the bad sites I've seen... There are absolutely awful ones out there. But I don't think you'd consider them "sites", more like "one-time pages". It's hard to judge which is the worst, because they're all essentially the same: a couple very old pics, some info, maybe a link to a movie @fox.com.

The best, in my opinion, would have to be CGEF. TFO is good for interacitivity, TFA used to be good, FRCR is good but it's updating very strangely. There's also a lot of great themed sites out there.

And speaking of what could be... I remember way back when with AYNIF.... Jason was pretty much my puppet... I'd say "add more of this and you'll get in the Excellent category" and he's do it... Imgaine if I hadn't... would he have become cocky and lazy and this place CGEF would never exist?

In most cases it is just like that (as Aaron D. said). You do your first site and don't know that you should do something you didn't do or shouldn't do something you did. But we (me and jwso) did it a bit different way. This sounds like a shameless self promotion, but hey, who cares... We did it the way you should do it. I'm not blaming any sites for not doing anything "our way", I'm just saying that by this, you can skip the "oh-so-crappy" time of the site. This famous "our way" is here in a nutshell: We asked a lot of help before anything was even done, we did something original, we.... ummm.... okay, we didn't do anything weirdly great.... but aren't those enough already.

I know, I shouldn't post replies when I'm too tired...

Hahaha..I'm not sure I wanna give you FULL credit for my accomplishments with a Futurama site Jason. I really don't like being called a puppet, because anyone could have pointed out the cons of AYNIF, and you just happened to be that person. I allowed you to be because I wanted to make the site better. I don't give up, heheh  smile

Hey Jason (P.)
I remember back last summer, when AYNIF was just gaining popularity, but was not comparable to the Archive (which sucks now) or the Outlet.  You kept saying that you were going to work extra hard on AYNIF, and make it one of the best sites of all, and I never thought it would really happen.

But I was wrong.  You, and now Andy, Leandro, and Josh, are really dedicated webmasters, and you have done and excellent job of CGEF.

the first time I read it, i thought you meant the oscars was gonna be the worst site.
