Several days ago, CGEF shut down, marking the 1st anniversary of Futurama's being placed on hiatus.  According to the blurb at the bottom, normal CGEF won't be restored until FOX shows a new episode.

My question is: what's the point of doing this?  This move isn't going to hurt FOX in any way whatsoever; however it's depriving the fans of one of the internet's best Futurama websites.

You could have that as an index page and then link to a secondairy one somewhere on it.

Well if someone knew the actual links to the pages you could still go to it, but I'm not sure what any of them are.  Anyways I talked to marc and he said that wasn't the only reason to do it, and that when it comes back andie will be marc's slave and work up lots of updates......

Yeah, there are apparently technical difficulties of some kind, which is why I haven't booked a flight to Germany to torture him yet.

I think CGEF shutdown is pointless...
I hope mArc and Slim just updating it.

Reason 1 was the anniversary. This was planned for long and meant to last for a week about.

Reason 2, 3 and 4 only coincidented and caused us to have a longer break:
2. Nothing much to talk about anyway without episodes. It takes time to keep cgef "just running" due to the various interactive parts. Without anything new to it we felt less motivated to spend hours on that.
3. We're too popular right now. Might sound weird, but in the last few years it often was popularity that put down sites run as a hobby. We'll see about a solution by March.
4. I'm busy with university for the next 3 weeks. And maybe afterwards with personal things    :flirt:

We'll be back. But on the long run, CGEF will need to change to something more static anyway.

You could have left the Buddy Buttons on that page as well, after all the sites are still linking to you, and getting nothing back in return.

Hey, but the site isn't actually shutdown, you just basically covered up the front page with a new one, right?

Yeah, basically.

Regarding the buttons: That would totally destroy the intended simplicity of the page. I think all the sites we link got lots and lots more than CGEF got in return by them since. Don't forget that CGEF has multiple fold the visitors of all other sites. They can surely link to us for 2 weeks without getting backlinks.

You need to put a big link to the petition and stuff up the top!

Perhaps you could put a text link to each buddy site below the Contact links?

mArc, any chance you, or anyone else could do me a favour. In I, Roommate Fry and Bender are looking for an apartment and come across one designed in the way of Escher's Relativity. Does anyone have a screengrab for this?

Why not just have a small link to the actual page? That would take what, 5 seconds. I just wanted grabs the other day. Plus, the news section hasn't been frozen anyway, so the whole thing seems... stupid. Especially since we willl have gone through this mourning crap THREE times when Futurama gets 'officially' cancelled. Once is enough, twice is silly, but three times? ugh...

Anyway there is some futurama news reguarding the official game. A british magazine (Gamesmaster) had a four page preview. mArc and the gang could just put up links to new stuff.

Just took me a day longer to get the magazine from the UK.

LilMissy, please try to stick to the topic of the different threads. Welcome to the  PEE-Lounge, though.
