How you are doing that the index is there on the left side? a special html-code, like <index>...</index>?
I once tried to create a side-index at a geocities-site, but it was all just a confusing whatever of html-codes

Thanks, I'm doing my site with FrontPage
so I use insert -->web component --> hover button
if it what you meant 
also : dont use geocities
