It seems that something interesting is going on with #futuramachat. I've been trying to log in for half an hour now. My IRC client tells me the server is timing out, and the web interface claims that the server simply doesn't exist!

I've tried rastaworld and sick-du, just to make sure -- nothing on both counts.

Is anybody else aware of this problem?

Bartman: The rastaworld address hasn't worked since they moved to the sick-du address.

After Rastaworld disappeared, the servers changed to irc.sick-du.de - that's not working either. I thought maybe Marc had changed it back to Rastaworld - but now neither of them are working. Rastaworld does not exist, and sick-du times out.

Tis still screwed. I wonder if this has anything to do with obnoxious little fool who screwed up the server last week?

Yeah, something messy has happened to the server all right, be it a DDoS attack or good 'ol excessive server management downtime.

Of course, it could have something to do with this:...

Getting it wouldn't help, unfortunately, as he undoubtly used several proxy 'bounces' to access the server.  hmpf

Codefish: Don't be so sure. We're talking about a stupid pre-pubescent child who probably got a free CD-ROM of "Hack and Learn - Hacking For Dummies" in his Pokemon breakfast cereal. From what I've been told, it's obvious he has no real knowledge of computers. When asked technical questions, or invited to technical discussions, guess what? He changes the subject and disappears!    laff

If it's any help, this gentleman's email address is common currency. Not that it would do any good to know it, but it kinda indicates his stupidity to leave a calling card...

Does anybody have logs of the last moments of the server? It'd be interesting to see what happened just before it went down...

Danny

Use irc.ircstorm.net for now. I will need to get a new java script working fror peel/cgef though.
irc.sick-du.de will point there soon too I guess.

Java applets still VERY unreliable.

I'm at college trying to get in chat at the moment. I'm using an Apple Mac with IE 5.

Logging in at PEEL looks promising, then it crashes IE and brings up a long screen of Javascript errors.

Logging in at CGEF appears to load the applet, but on entering a nick, it freezes at 'Connecting to blah-de-blah, waiting for data...' - this also happens on my PC at home.

Something just isn't working.

Comments?

i'ld suggest to download a client like xchat or mirc and use that instead. it's simply more reliable.
if you have one of these, just open a new server window and type

/server irc.sick-du.de

then, after you connected

/join #futuramachat

that should do the trick

I hear I'm not the only one with some problems with the server connection. Once connected I lag my ass out of there and it really sucks! I get about 10 seconds of chat before it's unbearable!

mArc i know I already mentioned it to ya in the room the other week, but really... is it possible to change to another server making it possible for people like me (ie other side of the planet) to connect for a while??  tongue
Also... while I'm at it, I hate that this new server has all the mirc popup windows and some crazy selflag ping thing which doesn't help the situation.

Anyway... I'll try again in another week or two  smile

Ninaka ... sorry to tell you ... but thats your stupid script running amok. It tries to send notices to itself to measure lag and the server doesnt like these notices. Use a normal mirc and it should go well.

Hmmm I've had this (very good  tongue ) script for the past couple years and on every other server it doesn't seem to chuck a sissy. This is the first time I"ve ever seen it do this.

Anyway, that's not too much of a problem, but is it related to the excess lag crap that's going on?

I have total faith in the server and the stability of the DNS.

I also tried the CGEF thing, and also failed  mad
It is obviously either affecting only the two of us, or the PEEL server.

Hm. Sure to be back up again soon.

Go to mIRC options (it should pop up automatically). Click on 'Add'.

Enter irc.irchat.tv in the 'IRC server' box. use port 6667 and enter a name like 'Futurama' in the description box. Click OK.

Now, choose 'Futurama' or whatever you called it from the drop down box of all the servers, enter a nickname and other stuff and click 'Connect to IRC server'.

Should work.

I recently got Mirc too and have to say that doesnt work.

I do all that stuff seemingly OK, but then on the drop-down list there is no Futurama (what I called it) server. I tried a few times.

*Ignore this sorry. I was in a different options to where I was supposed to be   smile, there was no pop-up you see.

EDIT 2
OK I tried to join but I was just in a conversation box with myself
Then I went into another port thingy "futurama" and typed "!list" (It said at the top losers type list) thinging some humorous comment about Mitsui being a loser would appear, but no, it closed the box and it turns out I had got kicked, and someone called Bite was asking what the hell I was doing. *sigh*
