I was thinking about it, and I've got to make a decision about my site, AU (http://www.aliens-unlimited.cjb.net). Please vote so I can get the general concensus. If I continue to have a site (I almost certainly will) I will probably be looking for a co-webmaster to keep the updates flowing.

Maybe, instead of just the alien language, your site could focus on aliens in general?

It's good right now, but expanding it like Kryten suggested would provide more material to update with each time. I run a couple of sites, and it's a pain trying to come up with good stuff to do constant updates. Then again, I'm a perfectionist type, so I do it all myself. Takes more work, but I'm always satisfied with the results.   :)

Thats a problem, I doubt I'd be easy to work with if I'm in charge... a new site would have the stuff from AU but I wish to expand and do more than just be limited to the AL's... thats why i started doing FFM's but they didn't get much attention  :)

If I did expand though I don't feel the site title would be appropriate anymore, which lead me to think about whether I should just do a new site altogether.

I think that you should keep with AU but you do need to expand from just the AL. At the moment i'm doing a site (With TheReal-Fry) Fry Online but as you can see we have a Fry section but we are not just a Fry site, we do other things too.

Hey Chump, you should keep AU content and add more sections.

Just the AL seems too limited for a site. I agree Kryten. Focus on the aliens from the show. There's lots to talk about with them.

I think Aliens in Futurama sounds a good idea - you could keep your domain too  :). I wouldnt do a character site because the main characters are nearly all taken.

Ok. I'm definately expand into other endevors though: framegrabs, world domination... etc.

Also, theres too much blue out there these days (when I made it there was just PEEL really) I want a different colour... any suggestions there?

This is what I've done on the background so far... http://server29.hypermart.net/kmac/temp-backwork.gif

Some of the stuff is out of place, but you get the idea...

Great new design thing. Do you still use Paint for scans - if so what brush size do you use and/or how do you do it??

Hahaha. Paint. No, not anymore. I'm flash based now. I had 1 half decent paint scan but that was it. Just download the trial version of flash. Its better. Or buy it if you got 500 bucks thats burning a hole in your pocket.

Anywho, the reason I'm posting is a little preview why not. Here you go: http://server29.hypermart.net/kmac/background-main.gif

(It looks a hell of a lot better when viewed with the proper background colour, but you get the point right?

looks good chump, although i wouldn't make a totally flash based design and the page could use some anti-aliasing here and there. and the text on the right side isn't very good readable, but i guess that's what you mean with proper background.
apart from that it looks good i think...

I don't know what anti-aliasing means. And the text is readable when put with the right background.

Anti-aliasing is like the text in my sig, using shades of gray to smooth out lines and text. I think Spiff was commenting on the linework.

Dispite the many problems I'm having with certain objects showing up, you can see it a little better here: http://www.geocities.com/au_main

Pretty slick layout, the lines look 100% better with the gray backdrop. Much nicer than the current site. Maybe you could tone down the orange a bit, it seems a bit Halloweenish when paired with the black on this calibrated LCD. Keep up the good work!

yeah, looks good!
but how did you arrange the links? are the section pics just a background? because my browser is screwing everything up right now...
of course that could be my broser too since i'm at a university comp right now and the best browser around is konqueror. and konqueror sucks.

Cellery: entirely possible to tone it down, if I feel like it later, I will (at least its not some neon orange thing though).

SS: The section pics are just a background. Don't bother with the links (thats why I hesitated to post the real address) because only the 1st section actually has pages to link to. All the rest are dead because they aren't created yet.

Mitsui: It took me about a minute and 45 seconds with my cable. Mmm. Cable. Its a big file though. Be patient. Also, you ever bringing back TFB?

Everyone:
I'm working on the sections as quick as I can, however, there are certain things that will not be donw for a while. I am currently framegrabbing every episode (I've only done 7 thus far in no particular order) and many of the sections need these grabs, such as the AL1 sections, the FFM sections, framegrabs, you get the idea. I will do everything that doesn't require the grabs specifically, then create pages for the rest so they aren't dead.

There was a little area for polls, but i scrapped it when it refused to load. Go figure.

I just realized people tend not to voice their opinions on your stuff until after you've given up on it. Like when you break up with someone and your friends are like: Bout time! I hated that bitch!

Lol at that last comment.
Thanks for the advice - sadly TFB is no more but there will be a Fry site one day. Honest.
Also, I'm thinking of buying Paint Shop Pro or Paint Shop Jasc. Anyone know which is better. That is if there is a difference at all.

Sorry to post twice in a row but I dont think an edit in the last post would fit.

I downloaded Flash (just under 2 hours)Freehand and liked the results  :D. However Im having trouble using a fill colour. There is no icon for it and the things suggested in help are no use. Anyone else had this problem and knows how to fix it??
