So what's going to happen with TLZ now that they got the C&D?

My guess: They will continue onward, while C&D's go down the toilet. I'm not an official source. It's just what I think

This is a rare event, I'm posting here! Don't worry, normal business will soon return.  :p

The Leela Zone ( http://www.leela.com.ar ) is back up now, DNS problem is now sorted!  :D

About the C&D: let's say it was a nice piece of paper, so comfy and soft, just right to wipe my butt with.   :evillaugh:

You should send it back to them, complete with feces.

I got a C&D regarding an anime fan site I ran a while ago. I just wrote them back a letter refuting their arguments (which were baseless) and pointing out that almost all the fan sites out there were also violating their property rights by the definitions they gave. I didn't hear back from them.

You'd think the people in charge would be happy that fan sites promoted the shows for free, but no, they go after the little guys with their high-priced lawyers. Bleh. In any case, a good copyright disclaimer helps to keep you out of trouble.

I really think you should change some things though Gort...

  • Add a disclaimer, that's probably their main concern and it doesn't hurt you. At the moment newbies can't see if leela.com.ar is official or not (not counting the current update topics).
  • Don't add things like the DVD goodies. These are things they actually *sell*. They hate others giving away what they want to sell.
  • Don't go the "we showed them" way. There is always a weaker link above you (last time that was MyDomain) which they can and will attack if they think it's worth it.
  • (This one for the other TLZ, too) Don't tease their lawyers right away with things like "We (could) have the framegrabs up before the episode even aired!".

Otherwise, if you want to contact them, try to skip the KMLAW level and seek for contact within FOX. I believe they don't even know what their outsourced "Online Laywers" do.

Yeah, Gort, not to kiss up to marc, like I normally do anyway, but it seems like you've been shoving this down fox's throat...

So, someone actually noticed my "The Lobster Zone" Joke, i'm impressed   :D

Also, i doubt Say Argh! is popular enough for Fox to even know it exists   ;)

Glad to hear the-greatest-website-in-the-world is now back up and running. :-)

Much as I hate to agree with something somebody says on here, I'm forced to go along with [---+++===mArC===+++---] on this one.

If my memory serves, you did have a disclaimer, but somebody decided to get rid of it! Smacked wrists all round, lesson learnt, I take it?

OAOB now has a lengthy disclaimer in place, just in case Fux (is that a new one?) decide to get arsey again. Please take a butchers at your convenience, then direct your complaints down the lavatory.

Is that TLZ down again, or is it just my computer?

Marcus.

It's working fine for me, there is a new fan art. I really hope that The Leela Zone stays because it's such a great site, theres plenty of art and great information and the layout feels really welcoming.

Nope  :)

I didn't "decide to get rid of it". During the last redesign, I simply forgot to add it, and only realized once I had deleted the original PSP file and created a bunch of PNGs, so I would have to recreate the thing from the start, and I didn't feel like it. That disclaimer thing will be back in the next layout (which will feature the following pic):

Anyway, this C&D was first sent *before* that layout change, and before TLZ had any of the DVD content (it was first sent on december 12 to ruben - but ruben no longer lives in the address they got, so the letter bounced back and now they sent e-mail instead). So their reason to send the C&D is NOT the disclaimer missing, and neither the DVD content. Adding it now probably was an extra incentive, but it was not the original reason  :)

In fact, the first C&D was over a year old, right when we moved to the domain leela.com.ar - we were up at 24/7-Killbots in November, and the C&D arrived in December. At that time, I ignored it, and didn't hear from the lawyers until now.

Well, if Graham posting here is an unlikely event, *me* posting here is something that only happens every galaxy rotation. So read you later!
