Every time someone talks about their favorite Futurama websites the BIG sites always come up (Outlet, CGEF etc.).
I run a little out of the way website so I was wondering what small or just getting started website is everyone's favorite?
My favorite is Futupollrama.
What's yours?

Thanks you two!!!  Yeah a lot of time people go with big sites as favorites but I love going to the newer sites that are building up since it is nice to see people dedicated to Futurama.

well one of my favourite websites is probably the leela zone, even though it is pretty big...the futurama community is lacking quality samll sites, and needs more, such as character sites and theme sites.

any way, the best in my mine are and were....

futurama fan art -
the leela zone -
fry file -
futurpollrama -
mass hypnosis hour (i had to put it in) -

kudos to all those webmasters!!!

Since I started this topic and it's about small websites I figured this would be as good a place as any to let you know that Futurama Fan Art is temporarily closed.
I can still be reached at
ffart@thefreesite.com
in case anyone wants to submit something for the reopening.

I can't draw either but that hasn't stopped me yet.  My "style" has brought many hours of laughter to those who use expensive graphics programs.

Most of the small websites mentioned above are gone now.  What a shame.

There's only one comic book store in this area and they STILL haven't heard of the company that puts out the Futurama comics.
I'm still hoping someone will find a subscription form and email it to me.

Oh, and B182, I checked out your website.  Very cool.  I'll add a link to it on my site on my next update.

I don't mean to brag, but

PR has always had the right links to ANSTATMAW and PESS. It also had the right links to FRCR. So check there first if something doesn't work.

Hey,

on the subject of small sites, some of you may (or may not) remember the futurama oscars, i used to run it... it started off very very small, and i used to make sites just to see my name on a computer screen, i thought it was funny... :P

the futurama oscars got bigger due to the updates i and someothers provided for the site, ya either liked the site or disliked it or haven't even heard of it, some fans began to email and icq me about sites that shud of been ranked higher or lower, and i got sick of it, i lost all confidence and closed down the site a few months back, a long time ago now...

it's thought me something now though, most visitors to sites dont care what the webmaster is feeling, they just want entertainment and updates.

Just my opinion :P

My training as a referee has taught me one thing: I am right, you are wrong, and there's nothing you can do about it. That's the mentality when I decide what sites get what rank. But I think your problem was you had to rank each one against the other and make a list. All I have to do is rank the sites against my idea of "Excellent", "good", or whatever.

It would be impossible to compare 2 different-themed sites, let alone those in different languages.

I started this topic in July and since then there have been a ton of Futurama websites that have closed down.
I mentioned Futupollrama. The Futurama Oscars is another.
The Dome.
Latino America
Temple of Robotology.
They're dropping like flies.  I even considered closing down my website as well.

So what do you think the problem is?  Is it a lack of dedicated webmasters - people that jump in when everything's hot and then lose interest later on - or do you think there are more than enough Futurama websites out there and we shouldn't mourn their passing?

Im not too sure, I think its people losing interest, afterall, if you don't have a site fully built in an amount of time, you start to lose interest, i have build many crap sites, but each one was better then the last one, So even building crappy sites is experience, i think sites i build now (non futurama sites) can be ranked a bit better then crappy, hehe... so its obvious, more building, more experience...

I closed down Futupollrama because a general lack of support of the site.  A good thing though is that there are still many pretty and large sites about Futurama; which kind of makes it hard for starting sites who get written off as crummy or useless just because they don't have the webtools to match.
But thats the internet, everything is always moving so fast and improving so much, for some it was hard to catch up...well for me.

I had my website checked out for a possible Homestead award and won a Silver.  I would have won a Gold but they said it took too long for the pages to come up.
I don't believe that should count against me because I used Homestead's sitebuilder instead of HTML.  It's like Homestead telling me I have a so-so website because I used their site building tools.
Ah, well.  At least I'm still in the "Good" catagory at Planet Roadmap.

ummm Jason...

i do webdesign partime in a company, and whether you use HTML (which i use), Homestead, or Dreamweaver (i also use) is up to you, homestead generates html from the layers u use on a page... its all the same in the end really, although, i see your point, homestead users may not be as experienced as people who write html, and use dreamweaver, flash, and use php and asp and stuff, but a year and a half ago i used homestead, and it teached me about layers and stuff, i now use tables instead of layers and just use a simple converting tool if i want a simple modification which is a bit radical, and a table can't do...

r_hawks provides/provided his site in its final form (html), after homestead generated it for him.

i personally do not use homestead cuz i like to look into the code a bit more...

I've built many crappy webpages in my day, so yes, anything you do will build experience. I like to encourage anyone and everyone to show their appreciation for Futurama by making a sites devoted to it. I just have a problem with people leaving them to rot!
