I am going to make a new site but I need colours. I've been thinking about using blue, white, purple, and black but I need your opinions. (Will be on geocities).

Right, the basic advice to anyone creating a new Futurama site:

Do:
  • Get a decent / unique topic to do the site on. We have CGEF for general stuff, and many other great fansites for individual characters.
  • Get some content. Don't try launching a site with absoloutely no content, broken links and "this section will be available soon". People will not think about re-visiting.
  • Get a decent layout (as you're asking about). Colours, design and ease of access.
  • Learn HTML yourself, try coding pages yourself and avoid page builders - Personal advice, depends if you're interested in learning a language and a unique site.

    Do not:
  • Use every single script that you can find on the net (Things that follow the mouse, user prompts, things that change colour and move)
  • Animated gifs aren't cool, try to avoid them. Same goes with background music, etc.

Okay. I need colour ideas but I want to keep the site layout plain and simple so its not all squeezed in.

Yellow black and blue? Sounds pretty gross...try a dark watercolor of your choice, and then just a lighter version of that color. Works every time.

I'd like to see what it look likes...  We can always re change the colors if it's honestly horrible  ;)

Ive found a black background to be the best just cuz its nice an simple, and best for viewing pictures, but if your trying to grab the attention of people especially in a News and Update section then obviously brighter colours are best. You can take a look at mine at www.roddney.co.uk  but I admit it aint the best in the world, I dont use an expensive web builder just a freeware one.
