This is my reply to Chris Pierce's "The Best and Worst Futurama Site" topic, I decided to make it a new thread rather than reply to that one as it already has about 60 replies.
So many of you dis Futurama UK and Futurama World, and I can definately see why you do. Futurama UK just plain sucks, because it has no notion anywhere that the content came from other sites. And to think I helped the webmaster out with some .htaccess file stuff. I should have reviewed the site more in depth before helping.
Futurama World is not really a 'bad' site, but just more of a credit where credit is due issue. He does give credit in ways, but not a direct link or something that says "This __ was created by __". I can tell it's mainly there for learning how to make a site, and getting the feel of creating HTML documents and graphics. I remember the first version of my site -- not the greatest either.
The worst sites on the net are the ones with a picture of Fry, Leela, and Bender and one sentence that says "Futurama is a show about a person that goes into the future." The worst sites are sites that haven't updated in one year. The worst sites are the one with non dedicated webmasters and crappy designs.
I remember when the archive (
www.nnyc.com) was the best site on the internet. It had daily updates, breaking news, exclusive media content, until it's domain went down for a little longer than expected while they were under server transfer. It makes me sick to see what it has turned into. It's not a bad site by all means, just lacks updates.
The best sites are the ones with updates, dedicated webmasters, and good designs (i.e. CGEF, TFO, FRCR). The best sites are the original ones such as MHH (slurm.morefuturama.com) and Futupollrama (hell if I know the address =P).
Thanks for listening to my opinion.
