Good news everyone - FSAC, Paul Metcalfe's site, is down, and, I think, away...

Wait, that's not good news, that's not good news at all...

Up for 4 years, 7 designs, numerous helper webmasters, fan art, fan fic repository, big hits... did v. well for a site originally started as a place Paul started to host a few of his early scans       :D

Anyway... a bit sad, but the site held and hosted quality work for ages, and Paul himself helped out a lot of artists and draw-ers (proud to include self among them!). 3 cheers for Futurama Scan Art Central, 4 years was not enough, and 5 big cakes to be sent to Paul in recognition of a good site well-made and maintained over the years!      :D

Now... I guess a lot of sites'll have to update their link-buddies...

Good news? FSAC was a great site, and had a recent-ish revamp. Sad to see another pillar in the Futurama community gone.

Awww I am so very disappointed to hear that FSAC is down. It was one of my fave sites and Paul was a great artist. He was also to one that teaches me how to draw and do some scan arts.  I like to give Paul A BIG HUG for that.

Good luck for the Future Paul and I hope to chat to you soon.

Sad to hear. It was great site, with lots of good art, a pillar in the English Futurama community. It was nice run, Paul. Sad to see it end.

Now wait, what exactly happened to it?  Did Paul throw in the towel?  Did FOX kill it?  What?  This sucks ... I got a huge number of my wallpapers from FSAC!  :(

That really doesnt answer the question.

Why would a great and popular site like FSAC get taken down?!

Get Paul in here and let him tell us!

Paul has gotten a life, he doesn't have the time to manage FSAC any more, he won't be producing much more fanart and has basically come to the end of running a Futurama fanart website.

There's no conspiracy, no FOX C&D letters, no server crashes or anything. It's just finished.

Good luck Paul in your new-found "life". Have fun!

This is really sad.  FSAC was the only place I ever considered sending my art.  But Paul deserves those great 4 years.  No other site will ever have that much Futurama fanstuff.

Basically it comes down to this.  I've been winding down all activities Futurama wise, since my Real Life turned on it head when Jill walked into my life, and she took precendence of my personal life.

It's also worth considering that on the 23rd October, I'll have been doing Futurama related art for 4 years and have done in excess of 700+ arts .. that excludes any Personal Avatars I've done for PEEL.  2 more Original Arts to come .. then closed doors on that side of my life, although I have a couple outstanding scan-arts of an original art series for a friend which will get done, then it's for Scan-Arts as well, as I'm retiring from art officially as of that date as well, although I will keep the 3D shading services available should anyone wish to have their picture done that way.

It was real bind to take the decision to close the site but "All Good Things Come To An End".  Many thanks for all the support over the years, to the contributors, all who have helped keep the site going and most of all to PEEL and Poonaniman (ex-Peeler) who spawned FSAC all those days ago.

But you can't retire from art!  If you have a gift, you have to persue it.

Paul, sorry to hear that you're winding up FSAC and your Futurama art, but it's great to hear that things are going so well for you in real-life, and I wish you good luck for the future.

So what's going to happen to all the scan art that's hosted exclusively on your site? Is it still going to be available elsewhere?

To answer Fryfan: Yeah, I'm still here. Just incredibly busy with school and burned out ficwise. I feel guilty about FSAC closing, but this had been coming and I think everyone who worked at FSAC could sense it. We weren't getting much material anymore and the e-mail boxes were filled to the brim with viruses and spam.

I'm going to finish TFZ, but after that, I'm not sure. I'm looking more towards writing professionally. I'll let people know of the decision I make when I cross the bridge.

Paul, sorry I've not been around. Been fighting some personal demons. I wish you luck with your relationship. And as sort of a tribute to both you and FSAC:

It’s sad to see FSAC go, but at least it’s for the best of reasons. Congratulations Paul, I hope everything works out well for you. So long, and thanks for all the fish art. And Allen, don’t feel guilty: real life has to come first, even though we may want to forget about it at times...

Seeing as others have done it, feel free to get work hosted on The Fry Hole, we only host Fry-related fanart, since it's a specific site.

This is really making me think.  All good things really do come to an end.  Like my grandpa died last year.  He was the kindest, greatest man I'll ever know, but he couldn't've lived forever.  But I can relate to what you're doing, Paul.  I have a ton going on in my life.  Sometimes you just can't find the time for things like a website which don't come first,  and even if you do, sometimes it's just not working out.  I hate to say it, but I'm not on the computer as much as I was, say, when I 1st joined PEEL, because it just falls into a daily routine and it's not as exciting.  But enough of that, here's to a great site that brought happiness to all.  Rest in peace, FSAC.

[edit] Oh God, how could I have missed the best example of Good Things ending.  Futurama!

My entire Futurama fan-anything started with and at that site. I do actually have a lump in my throat to think that has ended.
But, you move onto better things my old(est) friend, so that's can only be a good thing, and I wish you good luck and happiness. Keep in touch though, da?  :)

Chyort, I suppose I'm going to have to send my non-Leela stuff to TLZ, I was really hoping not to  :hmpf:
Maybe I'll see if Ulitka's still interested...

Why not? 'cos we're "a Leela-only site"? Sheesh, even the name, domain and layout change doesn't convince you people...

If by 'Ulitka' you meant this guy, I'm afraid he isn't so interested in updating his site anymore, considering that the last update was somewhere around february. Of course, all this are irrelevant if you talking about a some other Ulitka entity  :)

I'm sorry, I hold some very conservative views on the matter and this is my way of expressing my... opposition.  :p

@HDC: Yep, that's him. Though you're probably right, he's probably not interested. Though inforama.ru is currently the only place anyone's gonna see the bulk of my artwork right now.  :hmpf:
