...of any new participants in the Season 4 commentaries (with as little spoilage as possible)? Also, is there anyone who appears a lot more or a lot less? I've looked around, but I haven't found one. I'd appreciate it, thanks.  smile

Dan Castellaneta (The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings)
Kristin Gore (Leela's Homeworld, writer)
David Goodman (Where No Fan Has Gone Before, writer and Crimes Of The Hot, standing in for Aaron Ehasz)
Michael Rowe (Bend Her, writer)

Apart from that there are less Dimaggio appearences and more Lamarche.

Thanks a lot. Unless anyone has anything else to add, you can close away mods!

Don't fret about the lack of John (sad though it is). We get lots of Maurice to compensate...  smile

I'll probably be killed for speaking heresy, but I actually glad we got more Lamarche in season 4 and less Dimaggio.

I second that. But are there still some episodes in which he and Billy West are on the same track? Those two play off each other really well.

Yeah, 5 or 6 as I recall. Billy is oretty much every commentary, paired with either Dimaggio or Lamarche, save for one or two where they all three join in.

I like having the voice actors in the commentaries because for me, hearing a voice actor doing the voice of the characters in the commentary is a big plus. But I'm also glad to be hearing of less Dimaggio because all of his voices are the same and his laugh is annoying.

Which commentary has Maurice doing the Brain?

Another Season 4 commentary question occured to me. Instead of making a new topic, I'll just bump my existing one.

How do the commentaries measure up to the three previous sets? Still informative and funny? I'm just asking because there wasn't much discussion of them in the "Best Audio Commentaries" (another thread I've been looking for an excuse to bump  smile).

They're fine. Some are quite hilarious. And they still tell you a bit. There's an alternative commentary for Jurassic Bark that tells you all about the writing process. But there's an awful lot of goofing off, so if you find that annoying, you're out of luck.

I, however, loved it.

Hmm ... I'm really looking foward to hearing more Mo on the commentaries ... I really enjoyed his few appearances in vol. 3.  I like John, but he's had his moments in the sun in the first three.  Maurice needs some time.

Also, are there more appearances from Tress, or does Katey show up at all?  I'd like to see them more too. (edit): Err, I guess Katey hasn't been in any of them ... she's due.

SJM ... the goofing off in the alternate commentary sounds cool.  I always get a good laugh when they just screw around.  How does that couple with the sadness of the episode though?

Ooh, hey ... only 9 1/2 hours left until Best Buy opens and I can finally get my hands on volume 4.  Yay!

No more tress and no katey I'm affraid

Unfortunately Matt Groening only introduces himself and leaves for Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles, he has to take a phone call. By the fourth season David X has run out of annecdotes and starts telling the same ones from the first few seasons. Other then that the goofing off is fun.

Hmm I havent watched my Season 4 set for months, should dig it out again

I meant for the whole season, not that commentary. The alternative writers commentary is actually quite serious (though they take time out to dicuss the battling presidents in full). It doesn't comment on the episode itself, much, it's just there to tell you how the writing process works.

All my questions about Season 4 are at last answered! I don't mind the lack of John DiMaggio, as Billy West gets in a lot more comments, but somehow, there's a certain dynamic that's missing. It's like a string of Futurama episodes that have a lot of Fry and Kif and no Bender. Also, I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of interaction between Dan and Billy in Devil's Hands. I fantasized about some kind of duel of the voices between the two of them. No such luck.
