I just went out and bought the Simpsons Season One set. I also picked up a Futurama set for my friend's b-day. Like I said, there are others in this price drop, including Family Guy $22.99 CAD, Buffy $17.99 CAD, 24 $28.99 CAD & Angel 32.99 CAD. Though the latter 3 might not interest most of us (as it surely doesn't do anything for me), it's just nice to see season sets coming down in price.

It's pretty safe to assume that this is a canadian only affair at this point, but that does not mean that prices elsewhere won't fall shortly.
It makes perfect sense that Future Shop would be the canadian equivalent of Best Buy as it was bought out by Best Buy a few years back. But now, we also have Best Buys in Canada. Two huge stores with the same prices, policies and owners in direct "competition" with each other. Talk about trying to corner the market. Funny thing is that the two Best Buys in my city are right next door to the two biggest Future Shops in my city. Ugh!
Future Shop and Best Buy aren't the only places that are offering deals on these select first season titles; HMV is striking a "deal" as well. And it almost sounds too good to be true, and well... it is. They offer a "Buy 1, get 1 free" deal which sounds great and all, but here's the kicker. They didn't lower the prices when their cost went down, they raised them. Sooooo... for example:
- Futurama S1 is selling for $19.99 at FS & BB - Futurama S1 is selling for $49.99 at HMV (over double the price)
So, HMV's deal isn't much of a deal at all... it's more of crafty way of appealing to the human brain's penchant for malfunctioning at the sight of the word "FREE". I hate HMV. They've always been robbers and always will be. Anyone who shops there is voluntarily being robbed.
