Gizmo, it's one of the most watched-out-for rules.

They said something about a movie, but I suspect the idea was lost a long time ago and it's not coming back.

This threads going well.

A Futurama Movie, hmm, would it really be mainstream enough to be successful?

If, unlike the show, it was actually advertsied, then sure, why not! The pilot did well...

Usually whenever a movie comes out which is based on a TV series, because there is more budget the movie includes a much more grandiose (sp?) plot. If Futurama had a movie, what do you think would should it's plot be?

Besides that, a Futurama movie should be relatively cheap. As far as I understood an episode of Futurama costs a million dollars. A full length movie would be like 3.5 episodes, meaning 3.5 million. Add a little more salary for the voice actors and you've got a movie with about 5 million dollars, which is VERY cheap relatively to hollywood.

Yes but the budget would have to be jacked up because people would expect better animation. Pluys there's publicty, trailers, and possibly more voice actors which all cost money. The budget would need to be at least $20 mil, and most likely more, it all adds up. South Park episodes are very cheap to produce, but the movie costed more than 3 episodes plus an extra $2 mil to make.

I say screw a movie in the near future and wait at least 30 years, until most people have forgotten about the show, and only sci-fi stations are playing it in the middle of the afternoon, then make a flashy live action version with over-blown special effects and a totally rad CG Bender. I can see it making millions upon millions.

God no.  No live action.  Live action movies based on cartoons just don't work, and whoever came up with the concept needs to be mortally injured in some way.

Animation is the way to go.

Yup, especially with a movie like this. If you did it live-action, besides being creepy, it's production costs would be through the roof.

Yes, if they have a movie it would be animation... I mean who would play who? It would just be creepy seeing cartoon characters played by people. In fact I still haven't gotten the pain of the Scooby Doo movie that was live action. I rather be blind than see a Futurama: Live action film.

Yeah, even if it was Futurama or Simpsons I don't think I ever want to see another live action movie based off of a cartoon, and in fact would boycott both.  For me the last straw was "The Cat in the Hat".  I knew it would be bad, but I was actually taken aback by how putridly awful it was.  I've sworn off those things since.

i like to think "roswell that ends well" as a good story if there was a futurama movie, thus, the episode seems like a movie to me.  :)

For a Futurama Movie, that's pushing limits now. All you need to do is buy the dvd's, the products, comics, calenders etc and watch it on Adult Swim and show FOX people like Futurama. It is said to be a favourite over there next to Family Guy, and look out that. Not only do they have a new season starting the earliest at March 2005, but a CD coming out November/December time and a staight to DVD Movie in the works. Now learn from Family Guy, if you ever want a Futurama movie. Worked once, could work again for Futurama.

We already know that Matt and David are all for a movie, they just can't find anyone to finance the project. Doubt that will change unless the Season 4 DVD Region 1 sells spectacularly well at the end of the month.

Just have billionaire Paul Allen fund the movie...
And then premiere it at the new Science Fiction Museum Hall of Fame that recently opened in Seattle, Wash. (which he also funded).  :)

That page is years old (literally) and manages to fill a page with text without saying anything of any substance. Someone got excited about it quite a while back until we all pointed out there is nothing on that page worth reading  :p

Why exactly would he want to do this? He has probably never seen an episode, and the chances that you will actually get the chance to ask him would be very slim. Add the fact that he has lost about half of his net worth due to terrible stocks, and I say you have a -10% chance of getting him to hand over the 20 million (He'll ask for 2 million from you).

But I got a real idea! We could drill into Alaska for oil that we can sell to get the money! The   :finger: of a president wanted to; we could just follow it up!

I love websites that act like that information but don't give sources.

I think Futurama is dead.  From what i've heard/read Fox doesn't particularly like MG even though he practically saved the network.
Also I don't think Futurama has done as well Family Guy.  Although this only based on my experience, but none of my housemates liked it, while at the same time they'd watch Family Guy over and over again on Teletoon (even when it got to the point that they were just replaying the third season over and over again so in the span of 2 months you saw the same episodes several times).
While in Res during first year (back when Futurama was sitll being aired 2001/02) I only knew of a few people who liked it.
But then again, what do I know?

Ihated family guy but love futurama so i am hopeing that the same thing that happened to family guy will happen for futurama as for fox not likeing MG i really do notknow butlook at The Simpsons and how many years they have been on i am starting toget sick of the simpsons the shows keep repeating themselves

The Simpsons is about to be canceled if I'm not mistaken

A Futuruama movie would take a lot of money that Groening/Cohen don't have
