Your best bet is to call up your local JB Hifi and find out when they are getting it... i've got the first two seasons from there on the day of release.

I think so. I got my Volume 1 DVD for a very expensive price at Minotaur, I payed the internet price and my mum paid the rest because she wouldnt let me use her credit card.

Mandrakis - Seven have nothing to do with the release of this. The Futurama DVD releases are controlled by Fox, not Seven. However, the DVD is coincidentally being released 2 days after The Route Of All Evil airs on Aussie TV, but as I said before - it's due to Fox, not Seven.

And the Season One DVD of Family Guy will be out October 22.

Yes but don't they play some kind of part in this? Whey did they suddenly decide to screen season 3 and 4?

When you say "whey" - do you mean "When" or "Why"?

If you mean WHY, then the reason they decided to screen it is probably because people kept asking for it to come back. By doing this, they fill up a timeslot, and they shut the fans up. There might be some other reasons, but that's all I can think of.

As I said, Fox supply the DVD's - all Channel 7 do is air them. I doubt Fox would go "Hey, we want to release the Season 3 DVD's next year - so you damn well better air Seasons 3, 4 and 5!" Channel 7 play no part in the DVD releases. Get it through your head.

Thanks and the 'e' was an error.

I knew you had made an error when you wrote "whey" - it was just hard to decide whether the E wasn't supposed to be there, or if you had accidentally hit the Y key instead of the N key.

Anyway, you've got your answer. As Alex and I both said, it comes out in Australia on September 24, or in 11 days. The Family Guy DVD release date is currently correct too, although it is subject to change.

Quick query for anyone who owns the Season 3 DVD set and a Panasonic player: Do all of the discs work in that player?

I bought the set today but Disc 1 and Disc 4 refuse to play in the Panasonic (DVD-S35) but have no trouble in my PC, Xbox or Toshiba SD-1300.

I saw someone returning the set at Dick Smith Powerhouse when I was buying the set, so I get the feeling that this problem isn't isolated.

Oh no! Crapknight, I might have to agree with you that there might be a problem with the set. I've just put my disc 1 into my XBox and it ain't loading up. Yet when I put it in my PC it works fine!?! ARRGGHH I spent all day today just getting over to the shopping centre to get this thing and now I find it doesn't even work in my DVD player.  :(
Yet you say it works in your XBox but not your Panasonic...this is wierd...and incredibly frustrating.

I also went back and exchanged my set in hope that it was just a faulty couple of discs.

Exactly the same problem. Discs 2 and 3 work fine but 1 and 4 refuse to go on the XBox. I've just resorted to watching 1 and 4 on my computer...but damn it'd be nice if they just worked properly. :/

That release date is just for Europe. Season 4 probably won't come out in Australia until around about April 2004-ish, just to give you a rough estimate.

I've requested a replacement set, but it turns out my Dick Smith Powerhouse has sold out, so I have to wait until next week to see if my replacement is faulty or not.

The fault: My money's on dodgy masters for batches of Disc 1 and 4.

I bought the "Disturbed" dvd a few months ago and parts of it kept skipping and then locked up....I swapped it for another one and exactly the same thing happened in the same parts....

I bought my season 3 at Sanity at Melbourne Airport on Wednesday... for an over inflated price. Saved me a trip to JB though. Now I have to wait until Tuesday to get back home to watch them...

Anyone whose replacement sets don't work, call Fox HE Customer Service on 1300 369 843. The sooner they know it's a widespread problem, the sooner they'll offer swap-over replacements that work.

But HMV told me. If it's wrong I can still expect a January release. About four months expected.

Carbito:
The discs themselves have the problem, but the thing is, the DVD-S35's drive is pretty sensitive to scratches and poorly replicated discs, probably because it's designed for reading DVD-RAMs (very rare for players), which I could only assume would compromise it's ability to read bad DVDs and CDs.

I do know the discs have the problem (not the player's drive), as only Discs 1 and 4 don't work, and a Sony player had the same trouble with the same discs.

Too many people with the same problem ... I'll place their number on CGEF. I'm sure they'll react once they notice it's not just a few people.

Bloody FOX.

I guess I'll call 'em tomorrow, I have the same problem. 1 and 4 don't play in my player, but work fine in my PC.
