I don't think the boxsets are that expensive, if you shop around you can get them for £30.

From a David X Cohen interview on dvd.ign.com:

Quote
IGN DVD: Do you have any more plans for upcoming DVD sets?

Cohen: Oh yeah. I can tell you more about season four because that's freshest in my mind. I don't know if any DVD is like this, it's quite astounding. We've recorded original dialogue from the characters for the menus of the discs, and there's going to be animation accompanying it. Not animation I would describe as lavish, but there will be animation and new dialogue during the menus and furthermore, it will be randomized, so every time you put the disc in you get a different sequence of conversation from the characters. So it's sorta like half-videogame, half-movie in that there's different lines of story that can happen each time you watch it. We recorded lots of different choices for what each characters can say at each time. I had no idea you could do anything like that because people don't seem to make use of it.

Read the entire interview on CGEF soon.

Totally can't wait for this to come out!  I hope the commentaries are as good as they are on the other three DVD's.  Also the outtakes are usually pretty good.

Wow, new dialogue recorded by the cast!! Good enough for me! I'm hoping for a "FOX bends!" from Bender.

Those menus sound grooby, I can imagine what the quality of animation will be like. Good to know there's more stuff being added  :)

Menus are normaly one of the last things to be done, so if their already complete then the dvd should arrive soon!
also play.com who advertise 1st september as a date are being more bold and have started to dot adverts around the site.

yeah i know that they're not too expensive (as far as some box sets go and value for money Futurama is near the top), it's just that right now i really cannot afford anything, let alone another $100AUD. eh.

the problem is, i know if it comes out i'll pick it up no matter what my currant financial situation.

It's about time there was a packaging shot of this set, or at least an early design. Does anyone know if there's been one released yet?  :)

Looks like somebody at Play finally came up with more realistic release date ... it is now November, 17th.

Gooood morning, Play!    :hmpf:

The commentaries are now all rated by the bbfc, too (including the extra one for Jurassic Bark). With the season 3 set, it took them ~5 more months after that, if I saw that right. That'd be January, but who knows...

5 months, January, I really hope it's sooner than that. Although, seeing as it's the last set, I wouldn't mind waiting that long if it meant they made everything even more awesome

Farnsworth Parabox, 300 Big Boys and Spanish Fry all got 12 ratings.

Well Spanish Fry is probably because of all the "Whooooooooo!!" jokes Bender makes in that ep, so it's likely John would make some 12 rated comments about them :P

I think the episodes themselves were rated ages ago,  otherwise they couldn't be broadcast on TV. And the extras have been rated.

TV broadcasts in the UK are not (unless they're films) rated by the BBFC, because it would take far, far, far too long - it would be almost impossible to do (think about the number of channels, programmes etc.).

That's why the UK have things like watersheds etc.

You may be able to get S1 for about £10 if you try Asda, or, failing that, Amazon has it for £19.99: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/026-3883946-1474054

Certainly. The DVD sets are released in production seasons (of which there are four), not airing seasons. The Route Of All Evil was released in Season Three as well.

What's ironic is that of the 18 episodes on the set, at least 15 will not have been aired when they recorded the commentaries. :hmph:

They recorded commentaries in April, So that means up to Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles had been aired. So there is only 8 that hadnt been aired at the time of recording.

Dangit. For some reason I was thinking of the Season 3 commentaries. That's twice I've been off now. I'm going back to the Off-topic board, where I have some semblance of knowledgeability.  ;)

Horaay! I can't wait for the Season 4 DVD, I think Season 4 is a lot different from the first 3 Seasons, The characters seem to have changed but I just can't put my finger on and they hated Zoidberg a LOT more.

I can't wait to hear the commentries for episodes that are pretty special to me like 'The Why Of Fry' and many more.

Hello everyone!
(....a short visit from my internet-free summer break)

Season 3 is coming out in Austria (and Germany) next week.
The delay was (as far as I know) because of "the route of all evil" which hasn't been aired in germany so far.
Does anybody know if they have synchronised 4ACV in German so far, and if they are going to air it in the next time.
Or will there be another delay in the release of the German 4ACV???
