The reason they gave is the exact reason I imagined the cube version probably was axed.  But apparently there still seems to be hope for GC versions in other countries.  As I said in another thread, what'll need to happen for the GC version to come out here, or maybe anywhere, is for the PS2 and X-Box versions to sell well, and, lets face it, there's no guarantee this game is infact going to sell well.  I imagine they don't want to take the risk largely because they can't guarantee good sales of the game to begin with.  If it does sell well though, it'll be a more attractive prospect to port it over.

This should be in stock room but still...

The SCI site still has it listed, but the release date has been set to just "2003" it is possible it has been delayed and will come out later.

Is anyone like Marc or other "noticable" people in the futurama community able to open up communications with SCI?

Boo.  :( Considering the fact that I only have gamecube, this sucks... Maybe it'll come out later in the year, because it happened before with other 3rd party games (Street Hoops for example... it came out on XBox and PS2 during September and on Gamecube during November/December). We can only hope. :\

I don't like the main reason they cancelled the making of the game: Gamecube isn't part of the biggest fanbases in the US? I'm no fanboy, but aren't Xbox sales lower than the Gamecube's?

Worldwide the GC has a slight edge, but technically the X-Box is doing better in the US, actually.  Suprised me too.  That may be why it still seems to be coming out in other countries, where the GC is doing better.  While I don't think Futurama is coming out there, Japan in particular is an area where X-Box is doing incredibly poorly, so places like that put the GC ahead overall.

Another thing though: third party (as in not published directly by Nintendo, Microsoft, or Sony) games tend to sell the worst on gamecube, at least in US.  That's not an absolute rule, but apparently its true with most third party games.  That's why there tend to be fewer third party releases on GC then the other two systems.

My friend payed $1000 for a custom modded American GC.
So is it axed? OR just not coming out in a certain country?

The only thing I know for certain (more or less), is that the GC version has been axed for North America.  As for other regions, I've heard that its still going to be released in Eurpose, but I can't say that for absoute certain.

At least I can take a little bit of solace in the fact I was able to buy myself a PS2 for my birthday this past weekend.  A lot of good, older games going for cheap, and I'll still be able to play Futurama when it comes out.

This stinks!  I would like to release some hounds on Vivendi, or some bees, or some hounds with bees in their mouths that when they bark bees fly at you and sting you.

Psst! I have a plan. If it still comes out for the Cube in Europe, all I will need is a Freeloader device and the European game. So here's hoping! (crosses fingers)

Both Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com list The Futurama Game available for the XBox - you might as well preorder it, and if it's cancelled you'll get your money back. The only difference is the UK version is (for a change) being released a fortnight earlier.

GameSpot still lists Futurama as coming out on the GameCube. The game is being released in August, so presumably the discs are in the process of production - I doubt it's been cancelled. But I might be wrong.

Bear in mind that Amazon will refuse to deliver video games to the US, so you'll have to find an alternate supplier.

I'll attempt to find out more information via Vivendi Universal (the US publishers), and get back to you.

There hasnt been any reliabe emulators for consoles newer than the PS1 / saturn coz after that consoles have become much more complex.

there is a PS2 emulator, but I heard it only plays like 2 games and doesnt run very well even on the latest computers with the most powerful hardware

In response to the Futurama GameCube issue, read my post in the "Futurama Game" thread. Basically, it has not been cancelled. However, it will not be published in the US.
