Yeah, me too. I checked Amazon.com, and they've changed the release date from Sept. to, get this, "NOT YET RELEASED."

I just looked at the fox TV/DVD webpage.  Under the "To be Released" section it has season 2 slated for a Tuesday Aug. 12 release.  Go figure

Go here, click "view all DVD titles," then scroll down.  It does indeed say that season 2 will come out Tuesday, August 12.  (So did they change the date between the times lfv and Spice Weasel posted?)

That makes sense because it will probably correspond with the last couple of new episodes, and they will want to use them to promote the DVD set.

Happy day.

In fact - considering the show is now officially cancelled, maybe we can look forward to an accelerated release of Series 3.  I mean, Series 3 is ready, so it's just about leaving a big enough window so that they can move a lot of Series 2 sets first.  Hmmmmm- if that does happen, we may even see a Series 4 simultaneous release on both sides of the Atlantic.

If I can't have new Futurama, I sure as hell want all 72 episodes in glorious DVD as soon as possible.

What's that last-but-three word you used starting with p you just used? I think I've heard it used before, but it certainly has no connection with Futurama on Fox TV.

Nope - not FOX TV.  "Promotion" and "Futurama" are mutually exclusive terms as far as they are concerned.

BUT - FOX Home Video - that is another story completely.  Few would disagree that the DVD sets are first class productions all the way and that they received a decent amount of promotion both on FOX and Cartoon Network.  Plus - I saw at least one print add for the R1 set.

Even though the TV people gave up on the show after the first couple of episodes, the Home Video arm of FOX has been very kind to the franchise.  As far as the people at the top of the FOX food chain, all they care about is bottom line, and they understand that DVDs, even "that little space cartoon Gail over at the network just cancelled", adds to it significantly.

Come the first of August, expect promos on FOX before during and after the last couple of new episodes telling us the S2 DVD set is "19 episodes of one of the funniest, award winning programs on TV ever!!!". (Remember this will be FOX Home Video talking.)

If only FOX Broadcast had had put one percent of the same effort in promoting the show during it's run, we would all be discussing the upcoming Season 6 right now.

Sigh...

I saw one, it was for Season 1 and it was just before the credits for "The Why of Fry". Believe me I was shocked when I turned back to my TV screen and saw scenes from season 1 on screen

On topic...
TCFHE really loves Futurama.
Is there any evidence of new features that were not on the S2R2 DVD?

Fox has now confirmed the August 12 release date.

And the DVD set will have a preview of the video game that was not on the region 2 version.  I think that's the only difference.

Picked mine up from Wal-Mart for $38.56 or so, at about 3 P.M.

When I got there they didn't have any on display, and knowing Wal-Mart I figured they just didn't care enough to order it for the first day of release, so I turned around to leave. My dad was with me though and said, "why don't you ask that guy; they might have some in a box or something." So I asked, and it was in fact in a box right there by the counter; all the recent DVD releases just meant that they ran out of shelf space.

I hadn't seen the first two episodes on the first disc yet ("I Second That Emotion" and "Brannigan Begin Again" ) and I laughed my ass off at both of them; particularly the doctor "retrieving" a tooth from a jaguar in the first episode, and hobo-Kif's little jig for tips in the second.

I hit my local Target today, and they didn't have it. However, after consulting my local ad, it read that Season One was priced at "24.99", while Season Two was enigmatically priced at "Low Price". I'd guess you're thinking of S1 - otherwise, that is an out of this world deal.

I feel dirty for not supporting CGEF by buying it through their link, but oh yeah, Season 2 is $24.99 at Target.  It is supposedly on sale through 8/16, but your mileage may vary.

And the thought has occurred that they may have mispriced it, which is why I bought it as soon as I saw it at that low, low price.

Which reminds me; a pair of lightspeed briefs would make a hell of a dvd extra.

I hear that some WalMarts also have it for about $25, but apparently their prices vary from location to location (it may be the case for Target as well).  Anyway you shouldn't buy from them because they're evil.

OR what you chaps could be seeing is a discounted price, if you buy season 1 and 2 together.
When I bought both s1&2 today at best buy, they took $10 off the price.  So it's like i got season 2 for a smooth $25  ;)

Target has both season sets for $25 each, and you get $10 off if you buy both.

(At least that's the deal I was offered here in beautiful scenic Philadelphia.)
