John DiMaggio

I was listening to the commentary for When Aliens Attack last night, and when Bender pulled out the third camera, John yelled "Whatch out!" and I was laughing so hard.

What is this PC thing you guys talked about in the first few pages?

You obviously need a DVD-ROM. (Right?) If so, the Region 1 DVD has it, right?

One of my favorite commentary moments is in the track for "Hell Is Other Robots", referring to Fry's electrified hair: "You give us a hair bit, we'll give you the world." I've been known to turn on the commentary in the middle of watching that episode just to hear it.

i don't know what episode it is but its a snow one when some children are skateing and bender falls in the ice when they say on the commentary that the children died a few days later.

^^^ That was Xmas Story. It was funny, especially how someone laughed at Herme's "filthy crab". Also, how John DiMaggio does Bender singing.

I personally thought that 30% Iron Chef was one of the best commentaries. "This is one of the only commentaries where you get to listen to us eat chips" or something along those lines.

Yes, and they kept talking about horse-eating in the state of California, or something along those lines...

And in case we're still doing commentary cliches...

42. Maurice LaMarche was not in this episode. (He preceeds to voice one of the first characters who speak in the episode.)

I really must've overlooked this thread, somehow. Me, who loves commentaries!

And it's a tough poll, because I love them all dearly. Especially the 'popular trio' it seems, DXC, John and Billy. Buuut, I'll go with Billy. Simply because he's a god  :D I love him. Everything he says is gold (and what a pretty voice he has, too...!  :D)

i live in the united states and don't see any audio commentary options on season 1, 2, or 4.  i don't have 3.  is this a rest-of-the-world-only-dvd extra?  it sounds like i'm really missing out.  thanks.

Go into the language menu in any episode's menu. You get the option of setting up the language to English, French, Spanish and finally the Audio Commentary in here.

Another moment I missed. In the Sting, they talk about how Bender is on fire for no apparent reason, and somebody asks them why they did that. David X. says that they just need to wake up people after the commercial break. Rich Moore makes a comment about how people need to be waken up, after all, they are watching this episode at the ungodly hour of 7PM. Billy West then chimes in with his advertiser voice.

"Catch an all new Futurama at 7PM."

Then, in a cranky old man's voice.

"Sev-en?"

Speaking of Rich Moore, he's a bit underrated. He sort of has one of these wavery voices, that, I dunno, doesn't make him sound like a funny guy. Because of that, whenever he makes a really funny comment (which he does quite frequently), it really is sort of surprising. For some reason. :\

^I've noticed that too. He does make some funny comments, but because of his tone of voice, it doesn't seem all that funny.

Here's something kinda cool. On the Love and Rocket commentary, Matt Groening tells a great story about the flaming Alien. Then, I was looking through the Special Features on the "Alien: 20th Edition" DVD, and at one point, they mention that a large model of the Alien was recreated, than tragically burned to the ground. So Matt Groening witnessed the event, and knows the cause (the usher provoking people to set it on fire). Also, one man's tragedy is another's comedy. Interesting, and I just thought I'd share that.

^Pretty cool. Also, i_c_weiner, that's my favorite commentary as well. (Especially when someone says wannnnggg. Also, my other favorite part is the follow-up to Ba-OING, which is "Uh-oh." )

Does Rich Moore do that "Uh-oh" thing?

And DXC is so close to leading. Just *4 more people need to vote for him. (Although I have absolutely nothing against the other commentators. It's just that I prefer DXC.)

*= Make that 3 more people. Come on people, you know you want to vote for DXC.....   :)

Were it not that John endlessly amuses me so, I would have voted for DXC. I know that doesn't help the numbers, but...isn't it the thought that counts?

Well...seeing as my thought in this case was of John, then no, I suppose it isn't.

IT'S A TIE! Come one, don't be embarassed or anything. Tell us if you were the one who tied!

And someone be a tiebreaker and tell us as well. Let David X. Cohen lead for at least a few minutes. (Assuming he never led. I'm not too sure about that, but I'm assuming he never led. If anyone knows whether or not DXC ever led, please tell me.)

hhahaahaha!! Did you just post that Eyedol? Announcing the tie, and asking who is responsible? Because that was me! I voted for David X Cohen!  I was just reading through the rest of this thread and just now got to the end.
So now I am posting to say what I voted.
I'm not even sure now, remembering back to such a long time ago, but I suspect that even before I listened to the first DVD commentary, I was expecting that David would be a really funny likeable guy because I had noticed that all the things he had written for The Simpsons and Futurama I considered to be quite good, funny and sciencey.

That's pretty tough. I know what my favorite segment is: Scott Vanzo saying how Zapp's design "came back from Korea a couple times with his crotch fully exposed." Then John laughs, and I die. I gotta vote Dimaggio.

MG was good in the first couple of episodes, then JD took over for the rest of the season, but DXC owned seasons 2-4, so I'm going with him.

It's hilarious when John DiMaggio and Billy West are on the same track, like on "A Pharoh To Remember" John was Bender the whole time and Billy was Fry and occasionally the Professor, that was great.

And David X. Cohen is hilarious too, on the "Mother's Day" track I forgot who said it but they said
"who carries around their mother's bra, that's disgusting"
and David says, "you don't do that?"
hahahaha that was good.

and of course Matt Greoning is great, he seems to have a bit more enthusiasm when doing Futurama commentaries than Simpsons commentaries, thought the Simpsons commentaries are still great.

i like in 'a pharoh to remember' when billy and john are doing that rap they made up on the spot, that had me laughing.

also in 'AOI1', ken keeler says 'now i remember, we had to cut out all the parts that made it make sense'.

but altogether, i think maurice lamarche or bill odenkirk are the best   ;)

I'm a big fan of Rich Moore. Anyone notice that on one of the commentaries Billy West says, "he never says his name" after he introduces himself and goes on to say that he though it was John DiMaggio pretending to be Rich?
