Maurice LaMarche gets my vote. Just because he introduced himself as "executive actor" at the start of an episode once.

I voted Billy West. He's hilarious

My favourite commentary is The luck of the fryrish.

I voted for Matt purely because he's a genius and it's great to hear him talk. Also Susie Diether has a really cute voice.

I think Billy West is the funniest to listen to, especially when he and DiMaggio are together.  John's best line was during the introductions at the beginning of the commentary: "I'm John DiMaggio, I do DVD commentaries."

I love when David X. Cohen, Maurice LaMarche and Billy West are present, but my vote went to John DiMaggio; that laugh of his is just so wonderfully infectious. I especially enjoy the tracks in which John and Billy are both heard.

I do wish they'd been able to get David Herman, whom I adore, to lend his observations to a track or two.

And the "Nobody Cares!" song from the "Luck of the Fryrish" commentary has got to be just the best thing ever.

In the commentary for Obsoletely Fabulous, I can't remember what he was reffering to (even though I listened to it not 3 hours ago) but David X says "I done thunk of it"  :laff:

I have resurrected you, dead thread!

Right now, Billy West. But I've been inadequetely exposed to Maurice LaMarche as of now, and I may change my mind come August 24th.

David X: Tell me, can you show us the difference between Morbo, Lrr, and the H.G.B?
Maurice: This is Morbo! (virtually identical voice) This is Lrrr! (virtually identical voice) And this is the Horrible Gelatinous Blob!

Oh, and one last question: I know that the Route of All Evil commentary was recorded before the episode actually aired. Is that a case with some of the Season 4s? I hope not, as I was hoping to hear some comments on fan reactions to 11th hour classics like "The Sting" and "The Devil's Hands."

Alas, it's true. About half of Season 4's commentaries were made before their episodes were aired.

For me, John DiMaggio's my favorite, with David X Cohen and Billy West tied for second.

My favorite bit: During the end credits for "A Leela of Her Own", John confirms that there is no relation between him and Joe DiMaggio.  At this point, DXC shouts out, "Your mother was Marilyn Monroe!", causing John to slip into a New England accent and talk about "his brother Bobby".

Or Billy as Zapp in "Brannigan, Begin Again": "More fabric softener!"

Or the discussion during the beginning of "The Cryonic Woman" about the PE building's wild ride, specificially how it was hell to animate, but "surprisingly easy to write", and how there are two Mongols in a horde.

Good stuff.

As Slacky mentioned, about half of them were done before the episode's even aired, but in the 'Jurassic Bark' commentary they chat a little bit about fan reactions to it and fan polls.

Ooh, that's good news! I guess they only really talked about fan reactions before in "Luck of the Fryish" and "Lobstertainment." Season 4 had a lot more episodes that seemed to provoke opinions though.

With the Season 4 commentaries, I'd like to add a few more observations about the commentators.

Rich Moore never sounds like he knows who he is: "Hello, I'm Rich Moore, the supervising director for the series?" It always sounds like a question.

Brian Sheesley sounds like a really upbeat person, or he just has one of those ultra cheerful voices.

Ken Keeler's brain seems to go at double speed, as evidenced by his auctioneer-esque talking.

David X. Cohen really admires Dave Herman's contribution to the series.

Maurice LaMarche can never remember what episodes he was in. "My name is Maurice LaMarche, and I wasn't in this episode. (Morbo, Lrrr, Calculon, etc. appear in the first minute) Oh wait, I was."

Speaking of Maurice, I think the season 4 commentaries point out that he's also got a pretty quick witted sense of humour. I loved his joke about Ikea in Less Than Hero and how he approached doing the Headless Body of Agnew's voice in Crimes Of The Hot.

My favourite Maurice LaMarche commentary, I believe, is his Shatner in Amazon Women In The Mood.

I put this in another thread, but I'll repost it here because it's much more pertinent: David Cohen's Ikea story in Less Than Hero almost made me pee my pants.

I love Ken Keeler in the commentaries.  I love him even more for pointing out the bad spelling of archaeology in Jurassic Bark.

I've got to go with Rich Moore, as he's hilarious in everything.  Susie Dietter is hilarious, especially with her impression of her mother in the garbage ball episode, and her furry mention in an ep I forget.

Hey, is my DVD defective, or does the audio commentary kind of die out towards the end of Where No Fan Has Gone before?

Somewhere in the third act, everyone stops talking. Then they start back up again, during the credits. There aren't even any "wow, nobody's saying anything" type of comments. Just silence, and then it starts up again during the credits like nothing happened.

It's a shame. It's a great commentary, that long-ass pause aside.

Also, I'll say the season 4 commentaries are about as good as all the other seasons. My only real complaint is that they recorded them before they aired, so they can't comment on fan reaction. But I can't blame them for that.

Sorry for bumping the other threads down, but I have to resurrect this thread.
The funniest commentary by far is the one for 'Spanish Fry'. Mostly because of their jokes about "whoo-hoo", but especially when they say this (or something like this):

"Boinngg!"
"Uh-oh."

^That had me crying tears, the way they said it was funny as hell, and John DiMaggio's laugh helped too.

Also when Billy West does the entire commentray as Zoidberg in TBBOIC, and when he does Fry and John does Bender in APTR.

I like how Matt Groening voted the Spanish Fry commentary "Most Annoying Audio Commentary Ever" That was a really good one. I guess my favorite one is Amazon Women, and probably Devil's Hands, although it bothered me that Billy wasn't on the final episode commentary. Also, what was the deal with Tress only being on 2 commentaries? She was great.

Rofl, I loved the Spanish Fry commentary. "BAAAAUUUUM!"  :laff:

I have to say for me, its a straight tie between Billy and John. Like many have said already, John's laughter is as contagious as the flu, and Billy is absolutely hilarious.  :)

^Yea, more money to FOX. Although that was stupid. If Bender says "ass" in nearly every episode, why can't he say it in a commentary? David X. Cohen said something like that though. I believe some people have said "shit", and "bitch" once or twice, although I can't remember which episodes those are in.
