That's because VAT here runs at 17.5%   frown.

EDIT: I guess I'd better do the obligatory TOTP remark.

There it was  wink.

It contains all 13 episodes of production-season 1, ie. the 1ACV episodes.

FOX aired the first 9 1ACV episodes as the first  airing-season, and 4 episodes at the beginning of the second airing-season. Hence the confusion.

If anybody ask, just tell them it's all of season 1 on the set, and it's FOX's fault.

Don't confuse not caring with not knowing!

I bought a DVD player solely for the region 1 release.  Just so happens the player I bought is all region.  As soon a Season 3 comes out I will get seasons 2 and 3 from overseas.  Then I plan to be stylin'

Yawn. had them for age's and played them to death ive even watched a whole episode in a foreign language that i cant understand just
for the hell of it.
I dont know if the US packaging will have that cool looking but completley impractical plastic sleeve on it but if it does, beware they are VERY fragile and quite difficult to slide back on, dont even let the lady at the checkout counter mess with it(if you get it from a store where the disks are removed from the cases like here in the UK)

ENJOY......

I ordered Futurama DVD Season 1 just about an hour ago (through CGEF, of course). I've seen it before, but only after borrowing it from friends. Had to support Groening and the guys both morally and financially  smile

Don't know how much it'll cost though, amazon.de priced it at 26. Shipping costs differed quite a lot between EU countries and non-EU countries, and who knows what Norway as an EEC member counts as.
I hope the total price tag will be lower than 45, including the customs' fee.

Best Buy doesn't seem to care about release dates which is good for us.  I've also received items from amazon.com before it's release date.

All of my waiting has finally come to an end.  I purchased the season 1 DVDs today in Amherst, MA.  The store I bought them at was even running a special, 29.99 U.S.  (off the 36.99 regular price.)  I was giddy like a school girl, especially after having checked two previous stores to no avail.

While searching the display shelves where I did buy the box set I was filled with many emotions...anxiety, annoyance, fear and raging hatred.  Then, tucked neatly into a shelf near the bottom of the display was what I was looking for.  I snatched up the set at the same time a store clerk asked me if I needed assistance.  I fought back the urge to show the man the back of my hand and inquire where the Hell he had been 30 seconds ago.  Instead I replied, "No, just found what I was looking for."  I took the dvd's, paid for them, and scuttled on home as fast as I could.  So despite my laborous questing everything turned out good in the end.

BTW...the commentaries on the discs where more than I could have hoped for...

Seriously? Thats excellent. I was wondering today when I had a conversation on it, due to the fact that DVD is written on my hand in black ink. Went like this:

Them: Hey, why is DND on your hand?
Me: It's DVD. A show comes out today on DVD.
Them: Which one?
Me: Futurama.
Them: Hey! I like that show! Is it still on?
Me: Yeah, sorta.
Them: So what, they have a movie too?
Me: No, its season one, but I dunno if its Fox's Season one or the real season one.
Them: Whats the difference?

Fools. I plan to get mine tomorrow, as nowhere in town or surrounding towns would have it, I have to go to St. Catherines. Niagara falls might, but I dunno my way around there.

I shall not kill myself for mine arrives within the next two days.  I have enough memory in my mind to keep me laughing in the meantime while at work.  And then, I shall come home and find that the DVDs are sitting nicely on my bed and victory is mine! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  Ok, so they'll compare their lives to both of ours and kill themselves.  big grin

Well, actually, that would be rather foolish, as then I wouldn't be able to buy the upcoming UK Season Three big grin set.

Not joking, a multi-region DVD player was the best $200 I ever spent. With season 2 already out in region 2 and season 3 on the way, I would still suggest it is worth it.

Yay!  I got the DVD set!  I haven't watched it all yet, only through "A Flight to Remember", but I'm on Cloud Nine.  Now, how long do you think til we get Season 2 in America?  I'm guessing five years if that.  Unless, of course, sales are good.  I actually saw an ad for the set in the Best Buy ad in the Sunday paper and I was ecstatic.  With the commercials running, we can hopefully get more people to buy.  I know Suncoast is running a sale on it right now for $29.95.  I actually got my set, or rather my mom did, at Costco for $26.95.  You can buy it for under thirty bucks!  big grin

I finally got the region 1, season 1 box set yesterday.  I've only watched the first disc and I'm really impressed with the transfer.  No perceptable layer shift, good colours and hardly any digital "warble".  It cost me $35 Canadian.  I'd like to get season 2 and three as soon as possible.  From what I can see the region 2 set sells for like 30+ UK pounds.  That like double the price of the region 1 set.  I do have a PAL compatible DVD player.  I may bite the bullet and shell out for the ridiculous overseas price.  I'm still undecided.

Ah what a splendid day!  Yes, the po' region 1 folk finally got his DVD set in the mail.  I was at work and called my home during dinner break.  "Did a package come in, yet?"   "Yes, it's here" WOOOHOOOOO.  First, watch all the episodes.  Second, start whining about when season 2 R1 dvds come out.  Third, stop whining and buy region free dvd player and catch up with rest of the world.  big grin

Yay, I got my season 1 set!  (Got it on Tuesday, actually.)  Bring on the rest!

Only gripe: the audio.  I've got better surround on the eps I taped off the air on a $100 vcr.

Coolest bonus: The "JFK Jr. Airport" line is intact on the Space Pilot 3000 animatic.  Thanks for that one, guys.
