It seems as though we should start hearing more news about this as wasn't it supposed to be shooting for a March or April release? I do not follow the gaming world so maybe it has and I have not been seeing it.

Not a lot of news as far as I'm aware. Gamespot (big gaming website) doesn't even come up with any search results for it! Maybe the current release dates are quite optimistic.

I heard that they're gonna release the game in March, but it'll actually be Madden'03 in a different box.

Does anyone know when this damn game comes out? I heard about it coming out for PS2 and Xbox in the spring and people with GCube (me) have to wait until the fall. I'm sad now...

UDS still says "to be announced". The dates seem a bit weird anyway with GameCube being September only. That's unusual.

Those are the dates from Amazon. I have no clue how reliable they are though.

Well, I just got reliable info that there is no specific info yet  :p

We'll have to wait, but you'll be able to find the info here and on CGEF once available (probably legal screen shots, too).

I guess the Amazon dates are not very reliable. It's weird that the PS2 and GC dates are so far apart.

Oh well.

There's a small article with some decent-sized screens in the new UK magazine PSM2. So far the backgrounds look great, just like they've been taken from the show, but the characters look pretty damn dodgy. Hopefully they can be cleaned up before release.

The article mentions that Leela has her trademark martial arts and Bender smashes things (Smasher, anyone?    ;)). The pictures of Fry have him holding a hammer. Some of the levels created for the game include an asteroid junkyard, Sun City and the Bogad Bayou, and both New Yorks will make an appearance. There are also Metal Gear Solid and Star Wars. Here's hoping it'll turn out great    :).

EDIT: Oh, and it is cel-shaded, something which we couldn't quite make out from the old shots.

And one more thing: at the bottom-righat hand corner of the screen there's a number with 'PH' next to it. The humber varies from screen to screen, so it's probably important somehow, but there's no mention of it in the article.

Ph is a shampoo term. I learnt it from a commercial!

Close, Johnson & Johnson's Ph 5.5 is so called because the natural Ph level of your skin is 5.5. Ph is a measure of how acidic of alkaline something is. Ph 5.5 is pretty much neutral (scale is 1-10).

The pH scale goes up to 14, 7 is neutral, 5.5 is slightly acidic

Not meaning to be picky, but it's actually pH, not Ph.   :)
I've got penalised in exams for that mistake...

Ouch. I did only do it 4 years ago in science, so I'm impressed I remembered as much as I did.

Well, a game site I got to, www.gamefaqs.com,  has the game listed, but no release date. With the way the current game market is going, I wouldn't be surprised if it even gets released...

It will be released. The distributor (SCi) is working at it already.

Are SCi developing it AND publishing it in-house?

Nope, SCi publishes in europe while UDS is the developer.

Ahhhhh....That explains why I couldn't find that game info I'd seen on SCi's website. It was UDS's website I saw it!

Does that mean that it won't come out until after the release of Season 3?  :(

A little too vibrant colors, but it still looks like a pretty frickin' good game.

I dunno if it's because it's small, but that grab looks like an improvement over the others  :)

What's the big hoo-haa over "cel shading", anyway? I know Zelda : Wind Waker uses it (and THAT caused a lot of controversy in the Zelda community) but is there something special about it when in motion that makes it superior to other texturing techniques? Simply because from screenshots, it looks like a 3D version of a Mega Drive platformer.

something different I guess, I myself, like the idea that im playing a comic or cartoon show, there couldn't be a futurama game without cel-shading as you wouldn't get the look of the show graphicly would you? it is not superior its just how the tv show looks. How would you expect them to make it look?

I'm not a fan of cel shading, but those grabs look pretty cool. And if retro games have tought us anything, it's not the graphics that make a game, it's the gameplay  :)

hmm. those screenshots look ok-ish to me.
basically, what this game needs is some fullscreen antialiasing. it'ld look a lot bettter with it.
