Hi All, Just in case you've not seen the latest Futurama figure release. Mattel have managed to secure a licence agreement to produce a Bender figure under the Kubros Mega Construx brand. I was very lucky to receive a sample figure last week to add into the collection! It's a great figure to build and if your a Lego fan like I am you will really love this. Takes about 10-15 minutes to build and is made up of 140+ pieces. What's even better is THE FIGURE IS UNDER $10.00!!!! Link below takes you to the web store; https://shop.megabrands.com/en-us/shop/construction-toys/kubros/bender-dxb86Let me know what you think. Thanks Andy

I'm a massive fan of Lego, so I'm very skeptical of any products that try to emulate it (e.g. Mega Bloks), and, man, I really want to love every single Futurama product that I see but this just looks so tacky and cheap.

I've always been a big fan of Lego and have always been the same "you can't beat the original" I actually said to my other half when building him "I can't believe they can get away with this" copyright etc. But then when you stand back and think, its a $10 Futurama collectible a licensed one at that. The packaging is amazing, its great to see someone go and design something fresh instead of using the stock packaging. The actual bits actually are really good quality. I've owned, built and sold one of the original Lego Millennium Falcon's so I've seen probably the best lego set built. I think the biggest thing for me is, we've gone into another collectibles market, Mattel are a huge company so clearly still see the financial reward from Futurama which are all positive. It's not lego, but it's not lego prices, it's a bit of fun and if it helps gain us a new Futurama fan its a winner for me...

This sounds like a contradiction. Like Danny said, Lego knock-offs are generally trash compared to the real deal. Lego is expensive because it's not trash. It's high-quality, durable plastic that will likely outlive all of us. On top of that, the actual construction doesn't look particularly impressive either. An by the way, what the hecking heck is he holding? It looks like some kind of makeshift hook or crowbar.

Well, it's great that you like it and HOLY SHIT that PE ship looks amazing. I'd sell my family to buy that.
Normally sleek shapes and designs look weird in Lego form but whoever made that really pulled it off.
It is a stunning bit of work. It's been designed by Nicola Stocchi and you can find more info at; https://www.flickr.com/photos/124313328@N08/The picture above is a digital version using Lego software, I've had an update today that a prototype has been made in lego! It still looks as stunning as above. The issue is that Lego don't produce the correct green bits. The plan is to find a third party to paint original lego parts and then sell them as a kit with the instructions. You'll then be able to order the other bits via Lego pick and mix. Its over 5000 bits so will not be cheap. Soon as I hear anything more I'll keep you posted.

That PE ship is amazing. It's been... <Tachy thinks> well over 40 years (45?) since I've done anything with Lego. The Millennium Falcon kits were tempting but at the time I lacked both the patience and motivation. But this is special. Really special. And it of course touches me on a personal level considering all of the Peeler friends I've met on-line and in real life.
Regarding the Kubros Bender, I agree that its appearance is less than ideal, and also that it's good to see any sort of activity on the Futurama front. Perhaps if they'd designed that figure to resemble the baby Bender from Lethal Inspection the proportions would be a better match.

Think thats a great call Tachyon on the Baby Bender front! I'm just glad to see a new figure come to market and especially from such a big company, hopefully it will have made the Exec's money signs start to spin and they might think of bringing back the series. I'm very excited about the Lego Planet Express Ship, I'll keep close to it and keep everyone updated. You missed out with the Millennium Falcon! What an amazing Lego set, it took me a week to build, support from my brother and motivation from a few beers. Sadly it was that big I couldn't keep it any longer, but on a positive the money I made selling it really really helped boost the Futurama collection.

That Lego PE Ship is amazing, very impressive. If that was a real model I would be very tempted to buy it. I bought Lego R2 D2 and that was the first set I bought in years because of how impressed I was.

How would you rate your experience of assembling the R2D2 set? Fun? Tedious? Frustrating? Super cool?

I read in another thread that Bongo will no longer be publishing Futurama comics, and this is the first spring I can remember where there was no mention whatsoever of the next year's Futurama calendar on Amazon If I were a highly motivated individual I'd contact a bunch of Peeler artists and see about printing up a small run of calendars. But what do I look like, a guy who's not lazy? If you have any information to the contrary or have seen a 2018 Futurama calendar available for sale or pre-order, please do share; I really enjoy (most of *) the Futurama calendars, and only wish that I'd started buying them back in 2000. :-/ *The 2016 calendar was really different, with the mask theme, but it fell flat for me.
