Just got an email that my shogun bender has shipped.  Very surprised that Toynami didn't delay it another month or two.  New year resolutions for toynami?!  Can't wait to see this thing.  It looks HUGE.

mickywinz Did you get the shogun bender in already? Is he worth it. I have my order on BBTS in my loot pile and was debating if I should let it ship.

Yes, I got him not last weekend, but the one before.  I didn't take him out of the plastic, but he is very big.  The packaging is cool too.  I think it's worth it, but I also have the entire toynami line and wasn't going to let this one by.  If you like the bender figures, this is just an enormous version.  I like it :)

You should post some pictures of the Bender figure, mickywinz! I'd like to get a better idea as to how big it is.

Did anyone get Shogun Bender or the Hypnotoad bank?
If so pictures would be cool.

Well here it is, straight from Toynami's mouth...er their FB page, the end - it's official:

Quote
FUTURAMA NEWS:

 Dear Futurama Friends,

After a long and glorious run since 2006 making collectible toys for the highly revered series, it has come time to bid Futurama farewell. We are sad to announce 2014 will be the final year of our licensing agreement with Fox Studios for the Futurama property. We have now entered into a sell-through phase of our agreement, which means we will not be making any new products such as the Morbo figure, nor can we independently create any new products via a Kickstarter or similar campaign. Any products currently in production will be completed and continue to be sold until the end of the year.

Thanks to Fox for an excellent partnership, and we thank you for all your support through the years!

Wow, this thread is deader than Futurama... oww, I made myself cry.

The fact that Toynami announced the end of the license almost a month ago (Apr 9) and it took so long for anyone here to notice/comment on it suggests we've all moved on.

Was wondering how long they could keep dicking around with limited, random product before losing the license. It's about time Toynami gives it up!

In the end, they made some cool figures. And kudos to Toynami for picking up from the MAC molds. It's probably too much to hope for a third company to come along and do the same.

Not going to lose any sleep over it, but it sure would be nice to one day have a Morbo and Lrr compatible with these figures. Maybe the Toynami prototypes will hit eBay!  :p

Anyway, all gripping and endless frustration aside, lol, it's been worth the ride - if nothing else kicking it with fellow Futurama figure enthusiasts on the threads here over the years.

See you on the other side...

So, Morbo is re-re-cancelled. I'd probably have some emotion to express now if it weren't for the fact that I knew it wasn't coming after the first cancellation.

Well, Toynami, in their main line at least, had a good run. The core cast, some favourites, too many Bender variants and a naked guy. My figures are currently in boxes and Destructor is still mint, but they'll be properly shelved at the end of the year after I move.

With the licence ending there's a chance someone else will take it and build figures at this scale. They'll re-do most of what we've got unfortunately. I still think a brainslug hat would have been great.

Tonight, if the shop still has them, I'll grab a few series 2 kidrobots and hope for Hermes. But also, I'll have a closer look at shogun Bender. He was smaller than I expected.

Even though we saw it coming it still sucks, forgive my stupidity but does the end of the year mean till December of is it the financial year i.e may... Not that it makes a difference Im just curious, I happened to buy a Hermes Kidrobot figure just for the brainslug and he's awesome I got him for £10 in eBay and Im thinking of getting a few more for my collection, if your a slug fan and can find him cheap enough I'd recommend it

It's definitely big alright. I just wonder if it's big enough, y'know?

Got a Hermes! The Brain Slug looks pretty good with Toynami Hermes, not perfect, but good. Scale seems spot on.

Nice, the first Kidrobot series had some nice Toynami-compatible accessories.

Please post a picture of Hermes with his brain slug if you get a chance...

Ah well, that's disappointing. I was kind of holding out a smidgen of hope that Morbo would see a limited release as the SDCC exclusive this year.

That Brain Slug fits really well, I'm definitely going to get that.

The license running out is one thing but I could see them still doing an SDCC exclusive if it's already in the production stage. With what they charge for the limited runs I am certain they are profitable. Maybe talking Robot Devil?

Well, it's too bad that Toynami can't make any more Futurama merchandise, but, what with the series itself folding in, it's not too much of a surprise.

They made some great figures, ranging from the main cast to some notable side characters, cool plushies and stylized toys, and certainly went out with a bang by releasing the Gender Bender and Destructor. Despite the many impressive figures that will now never see the light of day, I think the line was still as success. Every required character was produced, and plenty of fan favorites made it in, as well.

It's always sad to see something that had a future die off, though. So many figures unmade.. it's a real shame. What's made the biggest impact for me is the fact that one of the reasons I first joined here to discuss the collectables, specifically the Toynami figures. Now the show's over, and the second most notable remnant of the franchise (to me, personally), the toys, is gone too. All great things come to an end, though.

Frankly, I think they made an excellent line. Their procrastinating may have disheartened some fans, but when they got down to business, their results were impressive. I think the best of the bunch was Robot Santa. Wonderfully screen-accurate, fitting accessories, and an excellent choice for a non-main character. The idea to sell him as a Build-A-Bot was very smart, as well, and definitely helped push the product.. not that such cool figures really needed help.

Farewell, Toynami, and thank you for the perfect figures and great novelties. :)

So we're getting one more Futurama figure from Toynami...

Seems like they are closing out the line where they started, and I actually like the idea.

Feels like another F U for me as a UK collector. Loads on ebay at $80 plus shipping plus import tax but none on the sites I usually buy from in the UK.

Makes no sense to me this whole exclusives situation. People buy them for profit,  real collectors get stung and the manufacturing company don't see the profit (unless the ebay sellers are the company in disguise). No wonder lines get cancelled.

I agree. The collectors are rarely the ones buying up the exclusives. We get ours in the marked-up secondary market.

However the reason these sell out is because of that secondary market. There are a lot more people at SDCC looking to profit from their exclusives than die-hard fans wanting to hold on to them. The manufacturers know this. At $40 each and a complete sell out of inventory Toynami is all smiles.

This fact will eventually work in your favor once the initial hype calms down. Right now ebay is flooded with these and those prices will start to come down. Look at BBTS for example. They still can't unload all their SDCC exclusives from last year and are selling Gender Bender/Destructor sets for a few dollars less than Toynami originally did at Comicon. Be patient and you'll get one.

Only time will tell I guess. BBTS still has Shogun Benders and they were limited to 500. Sadly I think Futurama collectors are a dying breed... I hope I'm wrong.

And in addition Toynami has some older exclusives in stock too which they sell in their ToynamiShop. So demand seems to be really low and 1000 seems to be a high number for an exclusive edition.

If Toynami actually send some to the UK then they will sell, they are missing out on money by not doing so.

There wouldn't be a secondary market if they just sold direct t the customers like they used to. I have several Con exclusives I bought from UK stores direct. They used to be limited but at least you ha a chance of buying them, and the company selling them makes the profit not someone on ebay.

Oh well, last figure done, show cancelled, not an issue anymore
