Why not Zoidberg?

I saw this was mentioned (after the fact) in a general thread and now on the news scroll... but I think it needs it's own thread.

The season has just begun and yet... here already; we have solid info for the Blu-Ray/DVD of volume seven and the cover artwork.

http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Futurama-Volume-7/17174

The cover is beautiful, much more what I'd expect... in line with Volumes 5 and 6.

What do think?.. please discuss.

Why dose it need its own thread? It has already been discussed.

Eh, the other DVD sets have their own threads in the Stockroom; they come in handy when the DVD actually comes out and people want to discuss the menus and special features and commentaries and whatnot.

Also, I'm digging that cover art. It's a bit creepier than the Bender and Leela covers for Volumes Five and Six, though. It sort of makes me feel like Zoidberg intends to gut whoever has the nerve not to purchase the DVD.

Thanks for the info. Danny, I see the bonus features were announced as well.

Everyone, please buy two (the dvd and the BD) when it comes out!

I think disc sales are a big thing keeping the show afloat at this point.

Fox confirms that December 11th is officially now (again) the release date.

Amazon has changed the listing date as well to reflect this.

I guess I will get it simply to watch the ep. I never saw but this is really going to be pushing it. Was not impressed at all this season and most the time was craving to switch the channel...but I guess this is more a discussion for General :shifty:

Thanks for the update, MuchAdo!

Was there an old ep of Futurama airing on a different channel?...

LOL, I believe that overall the show is still better than almost all other shows on T.V. currently airing new episodes.

So what other animated shows could you possibly view instead??

The Venture Bros. would be about it... or maybe Boondocks.

I didn't see any rule against posting this, and tried checking in The Wish Void but got no official response, so I apologize to the mods if it is not allowed.

I run a TV blog called NoReruns.net, and we were allocated one blu-ray copy of each of Futurama Vol 7, The Simpsons S15 and Ice Age: Continental Drift to give away.

We usually tend to get the same people entering our contests all the time, some of whom seem to just be interested in amassing a pile of prizes. So I was hoping by reaching out to the fan community, we could get some more people entering these contests who are actually interested in Futurama and these animated titles.

Winners are drawn on the release dates (11/4 for Simpsons, 11/11 for Futurama and Ice Age)--and are only open to US/Canada (Sorry)

PS: I'm not getting the Blu Ray version, so somebody else should put the next summer's episode clip from BD LIVE on youtube if they can. I mean there is a preview thing for the next episode, right?

I'm guessing it's because of her rigid schedule with Sons of Anarchy. You know, all that bad-assery.

Hey nerds! So I haven't gotten this yet, but here's a shitty video of an unboxing that I've found:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owxp8f5raVM

I call the video shitty, because I can't for the life of me understand the hate for cardboard cases. For starters, it's carbon neutral. Give a shit about the environment, people! Secondly, the artwork is lovely. Thirdly, record albums say "hello". Remember how people geek out over album sleeves? What are those made of? Cardboard. Fourthly, blu-rays don't scratch easily. People act like they're vinyl. Fifthly, compare the original package to the fugly duel CD case he whips out at the end. He calls the outer case "useless". Wha-wha-WHAT!? Throw it in the trash? Idiot.

The back cover says "13 of the geekiest episodes yet!"

Interesting that they're using that as a selling point.

Interesting... Even the 6th season is boxed in cardboard (I just looked for it on Youtube). But for the European version (German in this case), the slipcase does contain an amaray plastic box that holds two discs individually and has the same cover and back side as the slipcase. Boring...

So I broke down and got it. You know, despite the disappointment with the earlier aired episodes, I'm glad I did. The ones I hadn't seen before (31st century fox, Naturama, etc) weren't that bad. Definitely were better than most of the episodes on Disc 1.

Speaking of Santa, I got the 7A DVD for Christmas. As was my habit with the season six DVDs, I'll probably just listen to the commentaries right away as opposed to rewatching the episodes themselves. Besides, the only ones I'm really dying to watch right now are, like, "Fun on a Bun" and "31st Century Fox"; the rest of them, while entertaining enough, are not so special that I simply must see them again right away.

So, yeah, here's hoping the commentaries do not disappoint. I felt like 6A's were kind of cruddy, but 6B's were pretty good (and also Ken Keeler was there; I cannot overstate how much his presence on the commentaries augments my appreciation of them)--and so I'm assuming 7A's won't mess with that pattern.

I enjoyed the commentaries of 7A, but from what I remember, Ken isn't in any of them.
