This is interesting...didn't realize they were redoing the cover arts again. I was confused at first and thought this was for the yet to be aired episodes but no it's for Volume 3...has anyone seen any for Volume 1 or Volume 2? Is old futurefreak just behind in the times?

Yeah, let me see if I can find the article that I found about those.

EDIT:  Here's a website that shows all of the covers.

I heard that they are redoing all of the menus in widescreen too.

What thread was that? I check this subforum daily, and I still can't find where it was mentioned unless I am overlooking something...

Thanks for the info Louis!

I think it was the news thread where we were talking about it. I think they look cool. I hope a DVD set with both 6A and 6A gets released, since I can't stand them being separated.

That seems like a waste of money. :p

Artwork reminds me of Tom Whalen, but I didn't find any info at his site related to these covers.

Yeah I was about to ask - who here is willing to buy through the whole collection again for that (if you didn't already get it on Blu-Ray, I mean).

My original DVD boxed sets are worn with years of viewing. They're so messed up...but it's so nostalgic. Because it just reminds me how much I love this show.

I am because I've only got the first two seasons on DVD, I might get 3 and 4 first then get 1 and 2 whenever I feel like it.

While those look mondo cool, I won't re-buying these. My old ones are still pristine.

I probably won't be buying them.  Even though I like the style of them, I already like Groening's style better, and I don't think his style needs to be further stylized.  Style.

Anyway, I would much rather be able to buy a new Season 6A+B box set in the original art style.  Not gonna happen though.

GO FINS!

Personally I don't care.. b/c I'm sure they will release another complete set in the USA when the series does in fact TRULY end.

I'm sated with getting them out as fast as possible here in the USA the way the are being released.

There doesn't seem to be any thread where all seven of the new covers appear in one place, so here goes.  Volumes 1-4 will be available by July 12, 2012.  Volumes 5 & 6 were released last year, and Volume 7 is supposed to be available December 18, 2012.

Edit:  Now that my thread has been merged with someone else's I'm removing the images to the DVDs that I posted because they are being hosted on my own server and since Louiswuenator has already posted a link to another site which has them it would be a waste to put a strain on my server.

Yeah, let me see if I can find the article that I found about those.

I do too actually.  Strangely enough, the second half of what we now call season 04 was called season 05 until the movies came out.  After that they were all bunched together, and the movies counted as season 5.  It makes much more sense to keep the movies separate because they were not originally created as separate episodes.

By the way, does anyone know if the broadcast version of the episodes taken from the movies contained any extra footage?  I never saw them when broadcast.

The search function on this forum really needs to be improved.  Before posting certain things I've performed multiple detailed advanced searches and after not finding anything I go ahead and post, only to find out soon after that someone else did begin a thread on something similar.  It's quite frustrating to say the least.

I agree it can be anoying at times but could you not have scrolled through 1-2 pages in the PE Stockroom? There's not alot of updated topics here, I would maybe say about 1-3 threads are updated a day.

The search function is pretty handy, you just gotta figure that not everyone will think the same way and thus certain keywords you think will pop up in the title or messages may not appear. The specific thread I merged yours with (one of mine) was started a mere 2 weeks ago and located on the first page just 5 or so threads below yours. I kept your title on the thread, though, because it would be easier to search than my "Revamped DVD Cover Art" title.

The search function is rather basic. But it can be a powerful tool. Nine times out of ten, it's the user's search techniques and/or general knowledge of how to properly perform a search that are to blame for a lack of results.

I mean, it's a rather basic task. It doesn't need an advanced, all-singing, all-dancing interface or fancy coding behind it. It does the job - you just have to know how to use it. For anybody who's had to deal with database queries on legacy mainframe systems built in the seventies and eighties, PEEL's search tool is a wonderful vision of the future.

There have been occasions where the search has failed, despite no misspellings of either my search term or the keyword in the target post.  I chalk it up to the fact that nothing in life is perfect.

And would you please give the annoying animated text a rest?  Thx.

Back on track people. It is what it is. I personally have had no problems with it, but I'm not everyone. It's all technique.

Also, this new cover art is cool. But I kinda like the Futurama-y style of the classic art.

MuchAdo brought up a good point. When the series does officially end, they'll probably give us a complete collection of every season in one huge container of some sort (PE ship anyone? I'd want that...). The question is, will they choose to make a half-and-half set of DVD/Blu-Ray for the seasons (DVDs have the FOX run, Blu-Rays have the HD seasons) [possibly for cheap cop-out reasons]? Or will they release a DVD-only version and/or a Blu-Ray-only version of the entire set where you would get better transfer for the classic Futurama and maybe more bonus content? By the time the show is officially over I'd like to imagine Blu-Ray being the new norm, as their pricing has overall gone down within the last couple of years and more people own hi-def TVs/Blu-Ray players. Even now I scoff at DVD sets for shows. That doesn't mean it's outta the question to release a DVD version along with a Blu-Ray one it just means I've turned my back on DVDs in a biased manner. And I only ask for opinions on this matter because they haven't redone the first four seasons for Blu-Ray yet, which, I'm surprised in a way because companies love to rehash their wares in new formats generally. A guess I have is that they're just too damned lazy to do it.

That looks like a pirate copy. $20 for over 100 episodes of Futurama? Also that typo in the sub-title, and what happened to Benders antenna?

Gotta go with Beanoz4 on this one.  Serious doubts toward the authenticity of that merchandise.  There were boxsets for season 1-4 before the movies came out though, and I think they were different in both regions.

I don't know if we're meant to believe that real or not, but it quite clearly isn't. Whoever made it chopped off Bender's antenna and shoulder, and failed to know that there are four movies, not one.

And another thing:

It doesn't have any resemblance to this now, does it?

I didn't really look at it, I only saw different coverwork and thought it was something else. I didn't think people pirated this stuff with the toy lines and viewership for the show sliding downward

I also never looked at the price  Alright, alright. Fine. You all called me out on this one. I will win my cred back, just you watch!
