So we don't really have a thread just for indepedent Futurama merch finds and the like...I think we should!

Tonight I came across this on the bay and thought that was a really unique idea, I would never have thought to do Russian dolls on them...the colors may be a little off but still the original thought behind it is really unique. What do you guys think of that?

What interesting handmade/unique merch have you guys come across? I remember a few years back reading about the Futurama legos, those were slick.

Those were slick. The guy who did that LEGO Futurama setup has a Flickr account. It's marvelous! As for things I'ver personally seen? I've seen hand-made dolls (think crocheted) and hair clips with brain slugs on 'em. I'm tempted to make my own to wear it sometime when I'm feeling bold.

Oh yes, that reminds me, I have seen the crocheted brain slug beanie headwear on e-bay as well. Awesome.

The handmade stuff you find out there is just so awesome! I would like a brain slug plushie if I remembered how to quilt and sew haha.

*Bump*

Speaking of handmade things, I just received a custom made URL lego figure in the mail (with a bonus Mayor Poopenmeyer) and they're awesome! I recently got the Delorean car made for minimates last weekend, I'm gonna take Kirk and the Gorn out and put these two in it.

Here are some others by the seller. Pretty neat idea. Just need to make myself a Futurama Planet Express building like that one guy did years ago...

That would look...weird. I wouldn't paint it. It's amusing enough as it is, for what I have planned :evillaugh:

(I actually don't have a plan, they are just gonna stand next to my KidRobot Slurms on my nightstand)

I love URL! Though I'm always partial to little LEGO men with those helmets as opposed to ones with hair styles. They've always been my favorite. I have one from when I was a kid that's got some stars and stripes like he's Evel Kinevil or something.

I recently ordered these for my daughter the other day thought they were neat.              http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-4-Crochet-Brain-Slugs-Hair-Clips-Barrettes-Futurama-Brain-Slug-Small-Size-/270921367438?pt=US_Hair_Accessories&hash=item3f142bff8e                                                                             I have hooked another one of my children on this show. I guess 2 out of 4 aint bad. Now if I could just convience my wife? :laff:

You mean you didn't marry her based solely on her acceptance ...nay...wholehearted support for the show? Am I really just too picky? I guess I am one of the lucky ones then :D

Those clips are awesome! And a great price too!

Just got the clips in the mail yesterday and they look even better in person. Hope I can wait until her birthday to give them to her.    And I was lucky enough to get her to marry me in the first place let alone wait for her to like the show. I think that's why we work out or good. Opposite's attract :flirt:

I'm guessing this is his website.

Yep, definitely seems like it from some of his work on the site. He's done a lot of work on video game stuff too. :D

Misspelling aside, these cake toppers are pretty interesting:

I like the idea of adding lights to it, heh.

2nd one is cooler because it was hand-made with wuv. I feel like such a steep price for the first one made of cobbled together bits and pieces seems unreasonable. But that's coming from a picky artist who has to have designs flow in a flawless manner before satisfied. I suppose the second one feels a bit more planned out and coordinated too, since the sculptor gave them appropriate attire. :) Could work a tad bit more or likeness, but it ain't bad. Definitely not the worst fan-made things I've seen from this or any fandom.

I definitely find them unique, more so than say, this:

www.ebay.com/itm/BENDER-FUTURAMA-ROBOT-SCULPTURE-FIGURINE-/110871110421?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item19d06ee315

I don't mean to be rude...but seriously? Who is going to pay, let alone that much, for a sculpture of Bender that essentially looks like all the other Licensed Toynami etc. Benders out there?

The cake toppers are creative, and have a purpose, and there's nothing else like that out there in the Officially Licensed Market. Same with the Brain Slug hair clips (which I am very tempted to get since I got my hair cut) and the Futurama lego guys. Those are unique. I just find this a waste of time and energy for both parties if you want to try and make a living out of it.

So I'm curious to know...what do you guys think?

If you made it for fun and showed it to your friends it would be cool.  Trying to sell it for $100?  Lameness in the first degree.  The "MADE BY A PROFESSIONAL ARTIST!" and "PIECE WILL COME WITH ITS CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY SIGNED BY THE ARTIST" just made me laugh.

lol. I bet the certificate of authenticity will just say. "I got you, idiot. Thanks for 100 $" But I'd like to get the delivery-boy man comic book, found it on ebay. It looks pretty funny, and like Fry drew it himself. Plus, could be an interesting read.

I got that comic, for 10 bucks more than current bid even because at the time it wasn't readily available (and this was just a few months ago). There's a neat page in the middle that you could tear out and technically frame as a poster of delivery-boy man if you so desire. Just be aware that the comic itself is way shorter than the other Futurama comics - this one is only 16 pages, and not every page is dedicated to his comic adventures (like, there's a page of "fun products" like Simpsons usually does in their comics).

Anyways...just things I wish I knew before I got into a bid war for this. I definitely would not pay more than 20 dollars knowing what I know now, and even then I'm mainly paying for it just for the novelty.

Did you guys scope the dimensions of that sculpted Bender? 2'' by 2''? That's like the size of a hand. I'd be a little less shocked if it was 2' by 2' but unless they dun goofed, that's just.... Never gonna sell. I could sculpt better than that. :nono: I mean it's not absolutely deplorable but....

I just saw the price and was like. Wow dude. Really.

5 or 10 bucks I can understand if someone wants to help the artist out. But you're no Toynami.

I think this is fairly reasonably priced, and cool to those who this appeals to:

I think a condition of me getting married is a requirement for a Hedonism Bot cake.

The Lego figures look good!  I especially like the Nibbler and Preacher Bot figures.

Wow those new photos are great birdman! I especially like Scruffy, Dr. Cahill, and Zapp for his grin hehe (It looks like you may have redone Leela's eye, am I right? I think she looks way better now and more realistic to her character). I have my Steve Castle, Shatner's head, Mayor Poopenmeyer, and URL along my various display shelves and they rock! :D

These light switch panels are quite interesting!

Also, hehehe, they put Bender in glass.

Here you can get the very first official merchandise item of Futurama!!
I saw it in 1999 or 2000 on FOX.com where it was sold for $250 each. They announced it really as the 1st Futurama merchandise you could get!

But $250 for a higher quality poster is really expensive, so I didn't buy it...

How does someone even get ahold of that and list it on ebay now? :O_o: I mean like, if they know the value, I wouldn't think they'd be starting out so low...although they do have a reserve, which to me is a rookie mistake. Just start the bidding out higher - if there is an obsessed fan out there with deep enough pockets, I'm sure they'd get some offers on it.
