Unfortunately, collecting this line is an exercise in frustration at the moment and for the forseeable future. So personally I've just put it on hiatus for awhile and am not thinking about it.

It's been a lot of fun chatting here and exchanging ideas about what figures we'd like made and ones that might actually get made (often two different things!), but what's the point now when we don't even know when all the great stuff that's been announced will see the light of day.

So far now, I just hope Toynami can get itself sorted out again and this line back on track. If/when Morbo and Lrrr come out, I'll buy them for sure as love the characters and the prototypes we've seen. Beyond that I don't know, remains to be seen.

I guess at this point, it's next stop ToyFair in February, when hopefully Toynami will show up and give some indication of what's going on. At least I didn't put down any money on Destructor this summer with Toynami at SDCC and its "pre-order". You just knew that wasn't going to end well...

Not too fussed that some things are on hold, I see new lines as a bonus and a break from more benders is pretty good
still frustrated that the exclusives havnt made it to the UK this year, i want a plush devil and i have no tineez either!

Sorry, the dreaded double post.

This has just been listed on eBay though:-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FUTURAMA-SERIES-9-SEALED-CASE-BRAND-NEW-BENDER-URL-/360414444861?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53ea5ffd3d#ht_4711wt_1604

So thats £35 for a case of the most recent releases.

4 Wooden Benders and 4 Urls for 35 quid.

Looks like Dungeon Stone was right, they have invested too heavily in the most recent waves and can't get rid of them.   :nono:

That's the problem that smaller companies like Toynami have to potentially deal with.

It does seem odd that they wouldn't have protected themselves though by having a termination clause in their contract with the retailer that detailed out a payment to cover production costs in the event of the order being dropped.

The only thing that I can figure is that it was either a bad call by Toynami's lawyers or the retailer in question could have gone into some degree of bankruptcy protection.

Another problem is when manufacturers start liquidating their unsold stock to clear it out, it makes purchasing agents for retailers become wary of ordering a new wave of toys from the same line.

Their reasoning is.. "If the last wave sold so badly that Toynami has to almost give it away, then interest in the toyline is probably dying off and I had better steer clear of this new wave".

i woud think it depends on the characters tho...maybe toynami should heed to the fact they don't need any more bender variants...then on the other hand bender does sell. could have been the URL that set the retailers back.

toynami needs to figure which characters will sell god enough to make into figures and which ones won't.

now that the collectors have got all the planet express crew they need to focus on the secondary characters that're appealing to the masses. they've touched the surface but theres still lots to go...if not, then they just need to do exclusives. limited to 2000, or even 2000+. that'd work for me. if you think about it, it's like 'we've lost mainstream intrest but we've still got loads of collectors that'll buy up anything we put out.'

i don't want this line to die early..i need a scruffy.

They need to start releasing the popular secondary characters now like everyone has said.

Characters like: Scruffy, Sal, Slurms, Elzar, Yancy Jr (w/ Seymour :p), Cubert, Hedonism Bot, Leo/Inez Wong, Blatherbot, Hypnotoad etc.

Maybe also one time characters like Harold Zoid, Alkazar, Lars, Bigfoot, Free Waterfall Jr and "that guy" might be interesting?

As for larger figs, I think an amazonian would be cool, as well as the original Were Car.

Or do you mean this guy?

no. i didn't mean to put 'robot lawyer'..i ment the blue chicken lawyer. hyperchicken.

tho, i hardly see that happening. you know if this lines to continue they're boud to to more bender variants because of how good he sells. i would love if they re-released zoidberg but that's probably off the table. theres still alot of characters they can do it's just which ones will sell and which ones will do what the previous wave (URL/obsolete bender) did and not sell like they thought they'd sell.

man, i would hate if this line ends after the next six figures are released but if it does, it had a good run, and i'll cherish my figures forever.

I just don't want the line to end before they release all the figures they've shown.

Although not having Scruffy and Sal would be a hard blow when I look at my collection.

but look at the bright side...if they do kill the line, atleast we have a full planet express crew, some secondary and the mafia.

If all we got was what we've seen plus Scruffy and Slurms I'd be perfectly happy.

i'm fine with them killing the line aslong as i get a scruffy, witha porno mag and wash bucket.

To be honest I'd pretty much get any fig they made cause they are so cool.

I still need to get the Bender/Santa Bender set but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay a rip off price for it.

see that's the thing....people rape you on the price of the original fry and zoidberg, the variants of zoidberg and the exclusives. i understand they made limited numbers of them and all but if you got in late in the game your gonna pay an arm and leg for them.

and i'm like you, i'll buy any figure futurama related cuz they look awesome. i personally love the packaging hence why all mine are in the package. cept for robot santa and bender, they're on the tree.

Yeah the packaging is really cool, but I've kept all the boxes in a bigger box in my closet so I can get them out whenever I want and put the figs back in, and they wouldn't look any different than before I opened them.

Also I wouldn't have access to the Devil, Roberto and Santa if I hadn't opened them. I really like looking for them on my shelf, they're in my direct line of sight when I'm in bed too so that's really cool. They're some of the best figs I've ever seen.

I'm so glad I got my Zoidbergs and Bender (with devil piece) from a pawnshop on ebay that didn't have a clue at their value.

In the end the 3 Zoidberg figures and S3 Bender must have cost me about £15 each. I only got them a few months ago too :p.

It was from America, but they only had the one set, someone obviously brought in the first 3 series and the 2 exclusive zoidbergs, the pawn shop sold it on ebay and I bought em for a steal. I sold the ones I didn't need (which was all but the Bender and Zoidbergs) and ended up paying virtually nothing for the Benders and Zoidbergs

Finally!!!!

I really like the box personally, sort of reminds me of Bioshock. I agree it is completely different from other Futurama boxes but this is only the exclusive. If I remember correctly when the regular Destructor is sold it will come with Gender Bender and they may have those ones in a traditional Futurama box. Whatever they do I am super excited to bet my hands on some more toys from my favourite show.

I agree, the box if awful. Looking at the top corner it looks like it is made from thin, flimsy cardboard too but at least it will open at the front similar to the tin figures.

Not sure if  there is room for Gender Bender in there?

But any news is good news and although he will look out of place with the rest of the figures he will hopefully be with me soon!

Well, finally some progress on getting the new toys out!

I think that box is pretty cool. Nothing Futurama-y about it, but it fits well with Destructor - like a metal door he's waiting to come out of before entering the arena.

Agree that if/when the retail version of Destructor comes out, he'll presumably be in some variation of the familiar Toynami Futurama box.

What is he an exclusive to?

If you went to the SDCC 2011, you could pre-order it earlier. Toynami mentioned way back in July, that they will launch this figure as a regular release later on.

I asked this:
I also want to know when the people that didn't go to the SDCC 2011 will get the chance to buy the Destructor Futurama figure, like you said here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=143931339017512&set=a.138949412849038.34395.124287344315245&type=1&ref=nf

They replied this:
Javier: The delays to this edition meant delays to the regular release as well. When we have updated info, we'll let you know here. Thanks!

---

So far, I think we could get this figure in the near future.. even for us that didn't go or are to far away from the SDCC

That box kills me internally. Other than that Destructor will be kick-ass if he ever makes it to retail. In the mean time I'm quite content with my new Talking Bender. The phrases are amusing that they gave him, though I wish he had even more.
