New thread since the old one reached twenty pages. As for the Bender release, I just might have to get it since I missed out on the first and second wave of him.

I was actually thinking the same thing.  There's not a moderator I know of that will actually come in here to check without being prodded first.

no that is lame. how else can someone go back to see what is already discussed if you start a brand new thread of the same topic? plus, lots of pages shows a threads popularity. unless of course, you just want to feel good about yourself for starting a "new" popular thread.

Actually, it's an unspoken rule that we're to start a new thread once a thread reaches page 20 on PEEL.  This hearkens back to an older time when the forum would crash under the weight of gigantic threads, thus a 20 page limit was instantiated.

Professor Zoidy did the right thing. Just because there's no mod here right now doesn't mean we should ignore formalities. You wouldn't blow through a red light even if you saw no cops present...

I'm still waiting for the cost of Zoidberg to go down but the price keeps going the wrong way. He's the only one I'm missing... :(

RIP "New Toynami Toys",................... Hello "Toynami Figurama: Let's Talk Nerdy"  :) Great news on the Bender re-release in my opinion, and I love Jabalong's idea of the Nixon head, I for one shall be buying and doing that with the new figure  :D

I have quickly come around to liking the idea of a permanent Nixon head/Bender's body figure on my shelf and just pre-ordered the encore version 2 Bender at BigBadToyStore.

 :p

PS: In case our 20-page retired "New Toynami Toys" thread (776 replies and 27739 views and counting!) eventually disappears into the netherworld of Peelified as it gets bumped further and further down the page over time, here's a link to it for posterity. (Or maybe make it a sticky?)

I tend to be pretty magical at finding amazing deals. If I can find him for under x amount, are you interested? In which x = ?

So there are two questions. :D Interested y/n and x = ?

Also, it's worth noting that as of now there are no plans for an encore Zoidy. That's why I bit the bullet.

First answer is y, but x would have to be pretty low. I'm kicking myself right now that I didn't buy it when I saw it online years ago fo $30-35 because I thought it was too much for one figure. Now it's insane.

My number would probably have to be $50 or less. If I have to wait it out for another ten years I will :p

How much is a Zoidberg figure go for these days?  I got him when the figure first came out, so I paid regular price.  I'm amazed at how ridiculous the price can go on some of these things.  Zoidberg is cool, but not $100 or even $50 in my opinion.  Since Toynami does rereleases, they should do Zoidberg ASAP.  It would be more money for Toynami and would cut the silly eBay pricing out.

Okay. :-D If I ever see one for that amount or less, I will snap it up for you. :-) Even if you end up not wanting it, I know it's worth more than that.

I paid $150 for mine, and that was the lowest price in weeks. They can go for almost $200. *facepalm*

Luckily, I'd been selling enough stuff and had some Christmas money, so I was able to afford him.

It's a bad place to buy anything rare I think. That isn't to say eBay is better because the people there jack up the prices ridiculously most of the time if it's set to buy only. If not, us bidders do that for them.

Something I'd like to see is a special super articulated set of figures, much like Fry was made. He has superb articulation in his arms and legs, and yet the rest of the line has little to none? It makes no sense to me why they did that. I do get that they look cleaner with no articulation, but it limits creativity for display when you can only leave a figure in pretty much one pose. Maybe I'm just picky.

Now, back to the subject of Bender: By all means, keep him coming at us if the rehashes keep this line going. While I haven't picked up a figure in a long time from the Toynami line (shame on me!) I do like seeing the new figures they come out with.

Zoidy, this is my trick for getting lower prices on rare eBay items:

Find a listing where the starting bid is far too high. Put it in your watch list. Put in a snipe with a bid sniping service. Wait and hope. Often higher starting bids mean lower selling prices. :)

Another trick to find low priced Ebay items is to do a broad search. For example, search just "Bender" and you find:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Futurama-Toynami-Glorious-Golden-Bender-MIB-Limited-/180636985497?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a0ecda899

Glorious golden bender at under $100 with less than 12 hours to go.

Instead of searching "Toynami Bender Series 1" do a broad search and you will be pleased at what you can find.

I personally started collecting in October 2010 and managed to acquire all the figures at less than an average of $15 per figure. I really lucked out with a major score on Craigslist with someone selling all the exclusives plus the first few series for less than $300.

Anyway, that is my advice.

Glorious Golden Bender will go for $200, I guarantee it. :laff: 12 hours is a LONG time for rare figs.

I definitely agree with the advice about broad searches. Their loss in listing it badly is your gain in finding it cheaply!

$250 Zoidberg?  Oh boy. Ridiculous!  I also find the exclusive figures ridiculous.  I wish Toynami would sell them like normal so those of us who can't go to Comic-Con (most of us) don't have to try paying crazy eBay prices.  Would I like a Glorious Golden Bender?  Sure I would, but not for $200!

I stand corrected about GGB - $137! Should have started the bidding at $29.99 or something.

It's also in Canada, though. People don't like to pay the shipping.

Personally, I'm all for the convention exclusives and was really disappointed that Toynami didn't do a figure exclusive for SDCC 2010.

The way to look at these are as bonus figures that in many cases we wouldn't have got otherwise. Take the alternate universe guys, golden Bender would have been made as a retail figure, possibly blue Zoidberg but I don't see the alternate Fry and Leela's making it as retail figures.

It's not to say that they couldn't but with Toynami producing only a small amount of figures every year, there just wouldn't be room. Likewise, the only chance we'll see alternate versions of Amy, Hermes and Farnsworth will be as exclusives (SDCC 2011 please!!!).

As for the price, yes convention figures are more expensive, but such is the nature of the limited-production exclusive beast. If you keep up with the line though and buy these as they come out (so pre-order before the convention), then you can avoid the hugely inflated prices that happen on the secondary market for some of these.

My only objection to the exclusives from Toynami was releasing Robot Santa ahead of time as a convention exclusive, which I didn't think was fair to those people who bought all the figures to build the BAF. I also just think it was a lazy exclusive - would have rather the exclusive had just been Xmas Bender (with maybe some other Robot Santa accessories – robot reindeers, elves?), which would have made a lot of sense as something to encourage more people to buy the entire next series in order to get Robot Santa as a BAF.

Here’s hoping that Toynami completes the alternate universe figures with a set of Amy, Hermes and Farnsworth this year at SDCC. It ought to be a no-brainer, money maker for them as it’s just a question of doing some repaints on existing moulds. Fingers crossed.

Paint you a red one using a blue one as a base, you mean? It's probably cheaper than buying a red one. :laff: I don't want to make any promises, though.

Fortunately I got on to Toynami's Futurama right from Series 1 and have been buying pretty much every release religiously since as they came out.

The only figure I missed was Golden Bender who I finally relented and bought in January 2009 for what then seemed like an exhorbitant $56 but has since looked like a bargain.

i bought the original Fry, Bender, & Leela when they came out. you know, the ones with the plastic mini-scenes (suicide booth, cryogenic freezer, alien background), plus a small Planet Express ship with some wierd little aliens. anyways, that is why I skipped over the 1st & 2nd waves. I was like, I dont need these again. I think they were by another toy company too (Moore Action COllectibles or something), but the Toynami figures were exact copies. I think MAC Leela's hair is a lighter purple.

Anywhoo, now I kick myself for not re-buying them and not having Zoidberg & the other half of Robot Devil. Doh...

the MAC molds for leela are totally different than toynamis.

shes more articulated, just stands at a weird angle making it nearly impossible to get her to stand unless using the stand she comes with. also the toyfare exclusive leela is the same with a different paint job. toynami should do that as an exclusive in all it's sexual appeal glory.

weird that toynami hasn't released and stands.  they have alll the molds that MAC did back in 2000.

totally ripped the chef bender tho, kinda slaughtered it.

tho, the MAC ones pretty well made..i'ma huge fan of the action figure bender he comes with, in all it's tiny glory.

fine, everyone prove me wrong. maybe if I stopped spending all of my money on toys, I could afford a magnifying lens to do closer comparisons. then Id feel a lot less like a Zoidberg.
anyways my point was, at initial glance, I passed over the 1st and 2nd waves of Toynami, because I thought I already had Fry, Leela, & Bender.
