I've scoured the depths of the internet (and this forum) for any word on the re-release of the prior seasons on blu-ray.  I've been holding off on buying the set with the Bender head(even though it is very tempting) with the hope they will release it on blu ray.  So I figured this was worthy of a thread so we can discuss any news or what not on this topic.

There is really no reason to rerelease 1-4 on bluray as the episodes were made in SD. Maybe there would be a very slight extra bit of clarity thanks to upconverting, but not enough to make a bluray set a must have. A bluray would cut down on the number of discs, but then again it would only be 2 or 3 discs compared to 4.

The first two movies, on the other hand, need a bluray release. I caught BBS in HD on netflix and the quality was great.

I would still like to see a Blu-ray re-release.  The quality of the new episodes on blu-ray verses the old SD versions is miles ahead!

The digital animation process suggests that they may improve ever so slightly on Blu-Ray. An example of this is The Simpsons Season 13 which was the first Simpsons Season in which some of the episodes (not the holdovers) were done digitally, and therefore the studio saw fit to release a Blu-Ray version of the set in addition to the standard DVD version. This is despite the show not being in HD at that point...

Personally I’m not too bothered though as the DVD releases of the first four Futurama Seasons are excellent and the improvement on Blu-Ray would likely be negligible. As for the first two Futurama movies, yes it would make more sense for those to get Blu-Ray releases...

I would like to see the 2 first movies in Blu-Ray...
I don't think FOX is going to re-release the first 4 seasons in Blu-Ray.

The irony is that Futurama was going to be produced in HD since 1999 but FOX said no because it was not a standard and of course, they had to give more money in that time..
