Does anyone know of a comic service (for iPad) that does Futurama comics? Because I love reading magazines on my iPad, and everytime a Futurama comic comes out, the nearest place to get it from is a WH Smith in a shopping centre in another city. I've tryed looking on services such as Comics from Comixology, Zinio (which I mainly use for reading magazines), and even Titan Comics' app.

Sounds like a futuristic way to view them, and seeing as it's Futurama, makes sense. Tell them you'll destroy them unless they make it a reality!...

I wonder if Apple's upcoming Newsstand service will have Futurama comics, or any comics at all?

So I got #61, HMITMITW is actually alright, but TTWT could have been better. :hmpf: Will review properly later.

Also, the next UK issue is out on the 9th February! 5 months away! What the hell Titan?!

I know, Titan Comics sucks! I'd rather get one story per month than 2 stories every 5 months or something.

February huh? Still, at least they're more reliable than Otter Press, glad I switched to the comic shop's imports. It might be a change to allow a December issue including "Robot Santa's Little Helpers", which you've yet to see.

February huh? Still, at least they're more reliable than Otter Press, glad I switched to the comic shop's imports.

I started getting the US editions a couple years ago, and so glad I did - I still check the newsagent from time to time to see what Otter Press is up to, and new Futurama Comics seem to come out so irregularly these days. Not to mention the way they've ruined Bart Simpson Comics (printing two issues in one, then catching up to the US editions so the next issue is mostly padded out with reprinted stories, etc), reprinting things over and over every couple of years ("Hey guys! We only released The Simpsons/Futurama Crossover Crisis a couple years ago, and here it is again... in DIGEST SIZE! Money money money!"). Simpsons Comics seems to be the only Bongo title they release consistently and in a proper form. It's just a shame there doesn't really seem to be another big comics publisher in Australia, because I'm absolutely positive someone else could do a better job.

Anywho, absolutely excited to be able to get #57 - it's written by Jesse McCann, who wrote my favourite issue of Simpsons Comics.

#57 - "Steampunk'd" is out. There's also a mini in it called "Zoidberg Makes a House Call". The book is good overall, however the main story both starts and finishes a little poorly.

Zapp's mutton chops were certainly a highlight.

I feel this answer requires two spoiler tags:

So yeah, aside from the start and end, noted above, it was a good story with good jokes.

Sorta.

After re-reading for the summary on The Infosphere I think the ending cancels out the annoying part of the start, but the ending still sucks. The art is all good and besides that problem it's a good issue.

The mini is drawn by Carlos Valenti who also drew "Attack of the 50-ft Amy" (US33/UK50) and is written by Eric Rogers.

Yeah, the only art problem is in relation to the Conrad home's layout, but it's fairly minor I guess.

I'll agree with Quolnok's appraisal of Steampunk'd - art was sublime, loved the design of the world, the costumes, the technology, the quality too. And if you ignore the very beginning and end, the story is wonderful. But yes, the beginning and (especially the) end, they just seem like they really could not come up with a good explanation for the main part of the story and simply gave up - it really lets it down. So unfortunately my feeling leaving the comic is very much one of "...I beg your what!?!"

Also picked up "Would you like Fry with that?" on the same day. Kinda average, for me... okay in other words.
Mr Kazaleh's art has been a lot worse too.

Carlos is a pretty terrible artist from what I remember, not as horrific as kazaleh but still pretty terrible.

Actually, they are not that bad.
After all, Groening's style is not such a complicated one, and most professional artist get along sufficiently with that.

My personal favorite is James Lloyd: His greatest strength is a very fluent, natural page/panel layout, and rather detailed images.

Solicitations for Bongo's January titles are out. lots of reworked logos and fonts. Here's the main one http://theinfosphere.org/Futurama_Comics_59.

Sounds like it could be promising, or it could devolve into an Angry Birds parody.

I don't have a strong opinion on the Futurama font change, since they did that font on one of the movies. the Bongo logo will take more getting used to.

Wow that new cover looks awesome, they must be preparing for their 60th issue or something.

However, they all (except Bender) look a little goofy, Kazaleh goofy....

Well, it says that Delaney drew the cover. I don't think it's preparations for #60. "Bart Simpson Comics" and "Simpsons Comics" have new logos too, technically so does "Simpsons Illustrated", but that's a new title. "Sergio Argones Funnies" is less than a year old which is probably the only reason it kept the old style.

I think Bongo is just trying to modernise itself. Still, if they're making changes then the February solicitations might be interesting despite the fact that we normally wouldn't expect a new "Futurama Comics" that month.

There was a comic shop in Edinburgh that sold US copies of Futurama, I saw Steampunk'd on the shelf through the window, but didn't go inside to check it out. :p

Also, Boomsday came out in the US 3 days ago, does anyone have it? If so, how is it?

Don't expect to much from the comics.
Most of them are good but not as good as the show it self

I haven't got the crossover special any more but I did have part 2.
It was hilarious to see Homer and Bender getting drunk and The Prof shouting at Bart because of his pranks

The comics are a mixed affair, I recommend issues #4, #11, #16 and #21. As for the Crossover, they are all good, but the first two are best. Get the book, it has the lot plus loads of extra cloolsome art. It's a good package, hell we waited long enough for it...

I'm a big fan of the comics, keep me going inbetween seasons. :D

I imagine they would of been gold to Futurama fans during the first cancellation of the show and the release of BBS, as they were the only Futurama items still being produced. :D (Besides other merchandise, I think...)

Also, forgot to mention, a few nights ago, I had a dream about Steampunk'd...

It was so weird, it was Fry sat in Applied Cryogenics on the desk, there was like a weird machine from the future in front of him, and he held up a can of Diet Coke or something. On the can it said something about Lady Gaga and "You lost the Game" (trolled in my own dream), and then Fry said something like "With my knowledge of the past I can rule the future by using these cryogenic tubes.", then he drank some of the coke and made like a choking face but didn't spit it out. Then I woke up.

I also remember some kind of green portal opening above the machine on the desk. :O_o:

US#058
This issue has another mini, which I think means that they're constantly running short with the main plots, I think it also means they're running out of backup mini-comics. Inaccurate cover image as usual; The robot mafia actually only interacted with Farnsworth.

Boomsday! (Boothby, Lloyd, Pepoy)
Art is the high quality we expect of Lloyd and any inker
A plot: Professor's doomsday devices - good stuff
B plot: Bender's parents - meh

H.G. Blob in A Funny Feeling in my Tummy (Rogers, Kazaleh, Kazaleh)
C plot: pretty well summed up by title and fairly predictable unfortunately. Either Kazaleh's art has improved or maybe he works better when he gets to clean up his work when inking. It may have just been that no main characters were in the story at all, but his last one was an improvement too so I'm going to hope for the best.

Yeah, it's mostly the B plot with the carnies that could be interesting. The unsourced edits to wikipedia from the IP that's been consistently correct within a very small margin of error says the title is "The Bot Who Cried Wolf".

I'd forgotten about the 3012 doomsday episode plot. If #60 was an Eric Rogers or Patric M. Verrone comic I'd say maybe they decided not to do the episode and the writer took it to Bongo. Cue this season's duelling plot lines. Lets hope they're both on par with or better than the common cold plots.
