Otis, if you get any duplicates, I'll pay you for them. Dunno how much yet...

(I already have Zapp, Fry and Nibbler...)

Fair enough, good to know, thanx! :)...

If you get a spare Zapp, I'd be interested. That's really the one one I'm bothered about. I'd keep him on one of the shelves that make up my desk-unit thing. He'd look great next to my giant orange dalek.

Sure, ok if I get a spare Zapp I'll advise. I'm probably going to list all 16 figures I get so you'll all know what duplicates I get. I think it might prove quite interesting statistically...

Blind boxing is so stupid.  Seriously.

Yet Kidrobot knows we'll still spend thirty or forty quid to get the one we want, or give up.  I wouldn't mind so much but kidrobot toys usuallly cost at least a fiver, and I think people should be able to get what they want for that price.  A few comic shops used to charge like a pound or two more, but they would mark them so you knew which one you were getting.

Still I'm glad I'm not the only one who spends obscene amounts on art toys.

I'm not keen on the blind boxing way of doing things either. Also, I think they should make the same number of each figure. I'm guessing that the reason certain ones are rare and have a much higher value is due to the fact that less are made of those particular figures, rather than the blind boxing being the reason for their extortionate price. The blind boxing merely adds to the frustration and inconvenience...

Ugh the blind boxing

I spent a few hundred dollars on those in the last month just to procure one or two I needed. Normally I would have just waited to bid online, but I don't trust some of the people on there. I ordered a yummy keychain from someone once and THEY SENT IT IN A REGULAR LETTER ENVELOPE WTF. For the price I won the auction at, you could AT LEAST pay the $1 or two more and put it in a padded envelope as opposed to a two stamped one. So it's because of people like that I have had to avoid ordering, and it's irritating when the same person posts something I need

So now I am left to sell them all as a mix and match your own lot type thing. I just wish it would sell faster, I want my money back darnit! I'm not even making a profit on it like everyone else is because I prefer to ship all my items in a BOX WITH INSURANCE as opposed to in a two stamped envelope or padded mailer. (Padded mailer isn't so bad, I just prefer boxes. More secure that way).

I have them all now though, so you are not getting any more of my money evil blind box company with cute things!!!

Looks like it's time for them to make a series 2 of the figures. :p

A second wave.. I'll sympathize with you there - the pony blindbags are already on their fifth series and it's only been one year! Madness!

Perhaps lady luck shall sign on me and I will pull the rare one again like I did with Robot Devil. Maybe.

Or I'll just order a full case and go from there.

*Bump*

Some Robot Devil auctions (each have 1 bid already, same bidder)

www.ebay.com/itm/Futurama-Kidrobot-Robot-Devil-NEW-Original-Plastic-Cover-W-Box-Accessories-/261007906850?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cc5489822

I've ordered from that seller off Amazon before - don't expect the boxes to come in mint shape, in fact all he did was wrap plastic around the Kidrobot boxes, not even sending them in a box. I'm just linking these auctions here so you guys can see what they sell for...

I have the results of my full case of figures. It finally came the other day...

Fry - 2
Leela - 2
Bender - 2
Nibbler - 2
Zapp - 2
Mom - 2
Dr Zoidberg - 1
Sal - 1
Lrrr - 1
Morbo - 1

The rarest of that lot is probably Sal. Is he that rare though?... Unfortunately that means no Robot Devil or Slurms!...

I guess I have everyone else though, but my Dr Zoidberg has a damaged eye so I'd really like to get another one of those. On the plus side I have an outer case to house all of the boxes in which is pretty damn sweet! I doubt I'll go through the hassle of buying another full case. It could be a fruitless endeavour and I did get charged some import duty of £18.86 including the clearance fee :hmpf:...

You're actually very quite lucky, I am surprised it turned out like that. It pretty much aligns with their distribution chances.

Sal is worth about 15-20 it seems. It's Slurms and obviously Robot Devil who are worth more - Slurms about $60, and you already know what Robot Devil is worth :p

From what I've seen, Zoidberg is worth a little more too, maybe even more than Sal.

Just confirmed, yeah Zoidberg is around $30.

I'm lucky, apart from not getting the two rarest characters, and my poor Dr Zoidberg being damaged, who just so happens to be one of the other more rare ones :hmpf:...

I'm really not impressed with the odds on the Robot Devil. 1/96 is just stupid, I didn't realise it was that low. In theory I would have to buy 6 full cases just to get 1 Robot Devil. That's based on the average, but in theory I could get more, or I could get none!...

I think my only option from here is to bite the bullet and pay stupid prices for the Robot Devil and Slurms now. I also need another Zoidberg... again not cheap!...

I mean it's up to you. You could just keep buying cases and hope to get one for the cost you'd pay for just one online, and sell off the extras...the only ding is some are common and wouldn't be worth much to sell alone. You'd have to group it in a lot and hope that someone wanting to start the collection would be interested.

I myself would probably wait around for some good auctions. I think I bought a Zoidberg, actually. And then later I pulled one from a blind box so it worked out.

Too risky to keep buying blind. I'll bite the bullet. I'm not a very lucky person so it's not worth risking...

Also, I emailed Kidrobot about the possibility of another series. My email...

I love your Kid Robot Futurama figure series. I wanted to know, do you have any plans to release a series 2 of Kid Robot Futurama figues? I would personally love another series. Thanks

Their reply...

I love that series. We don’t have any official plan for Series 2, but it’s very possible it could happen. Farnsworth would awesome, and there are a ton of other great characters that didn’t get used for series 1. Unofficially, we’ll probably have some other Futurama related figures coming out at some point.

There you have it, no plans but still possible. Also, other figures are possible too...

Thanks for the info Otis! I find it funny how they began their response so - "I love them too!" - You sell them, why wouldn't you? Lol.

Yesterday I was at Barnes & Noble and they had a few of these figures still. Derek and I always pick them up and feel the boxes because it's easy to tell which one is Robot Devil (to anyone who looks for them, if you feel the side of the box and slightly crunch it, you might find it hard to crunch because of the plastic protecting his body, and also the box itself is heavier than the other ones).

Well, anyway, a couple of the boxes were opened (but foil remained sealed). So I felt one of the ones through the foil and knew right away it was Slurms, because he's the only character with a flat bottom and no legs. You can bet I grabbed that figure right away for the $9.95 + my 10% discount :D

I just don't understand why someone would open the box, feel that particular foil, and not get it. Must have been a kid and not a collector.

Anyways...just some helpful hints :D

It's a shame no brick and mortar stores sell them around here. I've seen them for sale at Forbidden Planet in Bristol, but they only had a few and they were already unboxed so perhaps just display ones. I also saw them at the Kidrobot store in London a few years ago, like when they first came out, but I couldn't exactly go rummaging through them in there, plus back then I'd have had no idea what was rare and what wasn't anyways...

If somewhere nearby did sell them then I would surely use your tips and see if I could score some dope figure rareness. Having said that I will be in LA and San Fran in June, so perhaps I should look out for possible opportunities then...

My local Barnes and Noble had a few left last time I visited but that was a month or so ago, so they're probably sold out. I should've checked for opened boxes to feel up the bags. I mean, heck, I got lucky once with Lrrr and ended up getting all the little pieces later for half price because the box had been opened and ravaged (albeit from another store entirely). I have been tempted to open boxes myself and feel the foils to see what's what but I don't wish to be caught in the act and labeled as a thief, even if I am not one.

Yeah...I mean, I don't know how it is where you guys are, but out here many of the boxes are opened, and people aren't afraid to steal. I was at one Urban Outfitters and about 6 or so of those Tokidoki Marvel Heroes keychain pulls had been opened and emptied. It's really a shame :hmpf: If it's already opened though, sure I'll ake a peek. I've done it several places and bought them like that, and especially when the foil was already open, when I make my purchase I go to the counter and say, "These were already opened, but that's cool because I don't have them anyway!" And the cashier is just like "oh cool!" or whatever, though I am sure sometimes they've assumed I was the one to open it. At least I am actually buying them and not stealing them.

I think more stores should just open up the blind boxes and have them that way for sale. If they did they would be able to sell a lot more I think. The Puzzle Zoo near me does that (behind a locked glass cabinet) and I nearly bought out their whole selection at the time for the doubles and what not. That's also how I got my first Slurms for $9.95 as well.

Yeah, it's like that in my local new/used book store. They've got a huge space and the toys are all in the back, and well, I'm quite certain many blind box items have walked out sans being payed for. Said place is where I got Lrrr.

Your idea seems like a good way to stop thefts and such. I wish they'd do the case thing here. They've got a case for expensive busts and such, but not these types of figures which is a bummer. I guess they don't care enough to do it.

So I saw today on eBay that there is a new "Wooden Bender" 6' figure:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KIDROBOT-FUTURAMA-WOODEN-BENDER-NEW-IN-ORIGINAL-BOX?item=320902174498&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8275481603554643674

I sent an email to Kidrobot to find out more on this new figure and got this response:

Hi Clayton,

I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of a “wooden Bender”. Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and our blog for all official announcements.

All the best,

 Ty Hart

So in short, be on the look out for this figure if your one of those who enjoy the Kidrobot series. I think it will be safe to guess that Kidrobot.com will have this figure eventually.. I hope :?

I'd have to think Wooden Bender will be made in the regular size. The hard work's already done (design, licence holder's approval, etc), now it's just a question of scaling him down. If not for a series 2, then maybe he'll show up as an SDCC exclusive, as I think kidrobot did some exclusives for the South Park line last year.

Maybe nobody really knows when it will ship/ got mixed up on dates? Or maybe someone stole a few copies from the warehouse to cash in on early? Or still yet Kidrobot may've purposefully leaked a few to catch our attention. I figured if Apple isn't above doing that, then why should anyone else be? :laff: I jest. It's just a very unique box and the fact that we know who's in there is sorta an odd concept considering what I typically expect from Kidrobot. I know 'em for blind boxes, not pre-determined fare although that's not to say I dislike them for going this route. The box is actually pretty good design-wise. It goes with the whole wooden theme more or less because of the color choices. Kinda like eco packaging if you will. I guess I call it "fishy" because it seems sorta "out of the norm" to me. But again, I only know Kidrobot for blind box stuff, and aside from the Futurama, Simpsons, and South Park lines I'm not entirely sure what all they make. I know I looked at their website a while back but I've long forgotten. It'll be interesting to see if this trend continues or not.

Heh, well the whole concept is out of their element - the fact that it's one piece and not blind box, but also it's massive size compared to normal Kidrobot figures. I would have preferred a Series 2 line first myself before they get into other uncharted territories, but whatever...I keep forgetting this guy's size so I debate on whether to get it or not, even though I know in the end I will :p

Funny thing is he doesn't look larger than the rest. They should've placed a regular line Bender in the photos for a size comparison for us non-believers/forgetters. Heck, I know I'm a non-believer because I can't believe dimensions of a book or a toy until it's in my hands. I can measure exact dimensions out with a ruler and still I won't feel right about it until I see it in person. I guess I can't really fathom three-dimensional objects out of context or whatever. I hope this sucker sells well enough that they'll give us a new wave/series of the small figures. They're cool and I have the main trio plus Lrr now! Copped a Bender a few weeks ago for $10 at a Barnes and Noble. He was heavier than the other boxes, and in the box crooked so I had a feeling it was him or Robot Devil. I'd obviously preferred Robot Devil but Bender was a nice addition too.

Yeah, I got another Bender the other week too because of his heavy weight heh.

Speaking of this line, I was watching this auction of a handpainted Gold Bender and Flexo (beard attached I mean) and thought that was pretty cool. That seems like something EvilPDA would do if he hasn't already. I was going to bid on it (starting bid $20.00) but once it got that high in the last minutes I passed on it, because I figured something like that the guy might relist another set and keep painting them if they're profitable.
