Today, Amazon began the Pre-Orders for Futurama: The Complete Set on DVD! Here is the news story on TVShowsonDVD.com, and here is the product page for Amazon! Can't wait, as the set is described as being sold in Bender's head!! :D

It looks like it's a box set of the seasons and the movies.  Obviously, it's not a new season on DVD.  Still great news, if this sells well, then welcome back, Futurama!

Well, the season sets and movies each sell for $18 new, while the complete collection sells for $120.  So the complete collection isn't economical if one already owns a couple of the season sets or movies.  But if there are a few hundred thousand Comedy Central-era new fans who don't own any of the DVDs, I certainly hope they all run (not walk) over to Amazon and buy this thing.

The seasons 1-4 are available at the local Wal-Mart for $14.95 each.

BWABB is $24.95 and ITWGY is $19.95.

You're confused, Snart. They are paying people $24.95 to take BWABB.

The more sales, the more chance of more eps after the 26 new ones.
You could always buy the set for someone else and get them into it.

Here here, i agree with Bianca. Whats the point of being so negative about it, if people want to buy it even if they have the other eps already then good for them, i for one will buy it, any dvd sales are helpful to keep the series' going in to the future (pun intended)

Have you noticed that the page of the Futurama Complete Collection is not available at Amazon...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029XFNBC/

and I can not find it in Amazon anymore..
Don't tell me that they are not gonna release that special edition collection!!!!!

I read somewhere that there's no region 1 box yet, but I don't know..
Or perhaps Amazon is trying to get rid of the individual seasons first..

I thought the "special edition collection" was actually a Comic-Con exclusive, but in retrospect that doesn't make much sense and now I can't even remember how I got that idea.

Anyway, I thought the $120 price tag was absolutely absurd and there was no way I was going to buy it at that price, especially when I already own all the seasons, all the movies, and even the Monster Robot Maniac Fun Collection.  Hopefully when the collection resurfaces it'll be at a lower price, but what I'd really like to see is an option to buy the Bender head storage case on its own, and hope that there's enough room in there to add more disks as more seasons come out.

Yeah, the Bender head case would also be good for the people that have all the seasons but don't want to buy the whole set again. I would buy it. Actually, if they did that, they would make a lot of money off it because of that.

Yeah, the Amazon page did mention that it was Comic-Con exclusive near the bottom (so it is stated on The Infosphere) and I think it said there were only going to be a few thousand made. But that last part might have been the action figures.

If the Futurama Complete Collection is a SDCC Exclusive, then it should not had been be available at Amazon prior the San Diego Comic Con 2009.

Oh well, I know that the $120 price is a lot, but is better than buying the Seasons and the Movies separately, because of the Limited Edition and the Bender head storage case (that I doubt we can get without the DVDs)

It gets worse than the Amazon thing.  According to the official site there's only going to be 500 made, and only at Comic-Con.

Crap, I was right?!  I would have thought the set wouldn't sell as well as a Comic-Con exclusive because most of the Futurama fans going would likely already own all of the disks.

On the other hand, there's the potential resale value to consider....

Is there still going to be a retail version of the "Complete" Collection. Because I don't see the point of that. I doubt any fan would jump in to an offer that costly (since they already likely own the Seasons/Movies). The individual sets are cheaper than a "Complete" Collection likely would be. On the other hand, a Bender casing for all the movies together (sort-of like the Simpsons did) would be fine (40/50$).

P.S. How well did that other Complete Collection (The Series Box Set) sell?

I'd assume it did well.  When I had to purchase mine, I had to purchase the last available in the country.

If that says more about the box set or my country is up to you to decide.

I think Comic-con is actually the perfect place for it.  Yeah, all the news is about the panels and trailer premieres, but it's still a convention full of die-hards and completists, so I think a lot of people will show up to get just because it's shiny, new, and
extremely limited.

I really hope there's an extra disc of content or something like they did on the Buffy complete set.  I don't have the movies, yet, but I do own all the seasons.  I'm really torn.

Still, giant Bender head.

Is a shame.. only because I don't live in the USA doesn't mean I don't want that bender giant head.. is just that SDCC is to far away

I just hope I can get one if they release more, or if some remain from the Comic Con (pleeease)

According to the site you can have someone else pick it up for you.  Do you know anyone in the US?

I wish they'd announce the price already.

Yes, but is a big favor to ask someone to go from Florida to San Diego in order to pick up a giant Bender head :p, and later bring that Head to Ecuador, where I live.

I wish they'd announce the price already.

$200 in the SDCC acording to an official press release of the collection:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Futurama-Bender-Head-Complete-Collection/12235

I guess the high price is because of the exclusive number by Matt Gorening and David X Cohen at the CC and you'll receive a limited edition poster

The good news is that it says: Futurama" The Complete Collection will be available everywhere this October.

The bad news is that you don't know if it comes with the Bender Head, but I say the Collection will come with the Bender head.

I really doubt it will sell. Especially when it will be cheaper to get the Season's/Movies separately. The extra's will only appeal to completionists, since all the stuff in the set will have photos of it online later. I don't know why they are doing this.

Plus, as Future Shock has already said, the name is a misnomer. Also, as Officer 1BDI has already suggested, wouldn't more sales be gotten by selling a Bender Head, maybe with the movies packaged in for people who haven't got all of them yet?

Whatever, it's FOX's money. I just hope that low sales don't make them think that Futurama still doesn't sell that well.

Like I said earlier, I can't think of a better place to drop an item for completists than at the biggest Comic Convention in the world.  I mean, they only have to sell 500, discs are cheap, and I can't imagine the Bender Heads being expensive to produce.  Just shaped plastic for a giant corporation?

I am glad to hear that they're releasing the box set later for everyone.  I know lots of people I got to watch the show after it got cancelled that still haven't picked up the DVDs yet that might get this.

Box Sets just make everything seem more important.

EDIT: I went ahead and dropped the money on it.  Looks like it's Ramen for me for awhile.

It's more a collectable than anything else. Most Futurama fans will already have all four seasons and the four movies so it's not as though they'll need it for the content.

Besides, with Futurama coming back once again next year for a couple more seasons they'll just end up trying to sell another "complete" collection some other time.

Yes, but who's head will hold the discs in that collection?  Maybe Morbo, and then I can just slide the Bender head into one of his lobes.

Apparently there's going to be a "Complete" Collection released in October, but Fox hasn't said if that will be the a big head model, or just something to come out so people who discovered the show on Adult Swim or Comedy Central can get before the new episodes come out.

A Planet Express ship would be kind of cool, with space for new discs.

I'm hoping they release a second set that doesn't contain the volume one series. I'd like a second head or maybe a Planet Express building that opens up to put next to Bender.

Because I already dropped the money on the Bender head, so it'd be nice if they released a second set (I didn't say complete) for the people who went to Comic-Con or the (maybe) Fall release.

I'd made sense if you had said, "they can put off some of the seasons, because I just want the Bender Head".
