I've been getting futurama comics ever since they came out and I haven't stopped but I've noticed something which is the art is getting crappier, has anyone else noticed

It's because they use the same artist for nearly every issue; Mike Kazaleh...it's more noticeable on Leela...although I don't really have any issues with it since he's improved a lot (#31 was terrific with the art, IMO). Although I do miss James Lloyd and John Delaney's style...

I've noticed the quality of art going down. I'm just hoping the reason is that all the best artists are working on the Futurama movies...

The last comic I bought was the Robin Hood issue but I'd notice a decline in quality up until then. It's a shame Bongo can't chain James Lloyd to a drawing board -- his artwork is brilliant.

But Bongo and the show/movies are two totally different things altogether. The two main comic artists (James Lloyd and John Delaney) have never worked on either Futurama or The Simpsons; just the comics. Plus Lloyd and Delaney still have heaps of Simpsons stuff being published to date so it's strange that they haven't done any more Futurama work.

The art in the comics seem the same to me.  I do agree with the Robin Hood issue, wasn't really good.  There's nothing wrong with the comics that I can see.

It seems they don't use shadows, or color variations as much, or something like that.... Not sure, because I can't quite put my finger on what it's lacking...and I'm an artist...

What I've noticed with Mike Kazaleh is that he cannot really get the facial expressions right. For example, when Leela is angry he just draws a solid line across the top of the eye rather than curving it to actually give it an "angry" look. On top of that, he can hardly ever draw here lipstick right and it sometimes actually makes her look more like a man. He also draws Zoidberg with teeth which looks horribly wrong, and he usually curves Bender's mouth to give him a permanent 'smile' that shouldn't be there.

I've noticed Zoidberg's teeth, but I remember season one of the show game him some for a time. Perhaps that's why he does it?

Edited for the stupidity of spelling teeth wrong.

Well Mike Kazaleh was a layout artist for the show, but I believe he worked for it for the entire four seasons...

Then it may explain why he draws in teeth. You'd really have to ask him if you wanted to know the answer.   :laff:
