Maybe Toynami will release some brand new action figures when season 6 airs later this year.
That's a good point. They released Nudar from Bender's Big Score, so it's quite possible...

Yup, fingers crossed that Toynami shows up in New York next week with some new Futurama prototypes! Not getting my hopes up, but am cautiously optimistic. I'll be keeping an eye on ASM's Toy Fair 2010 page.

Great news puny humans, Toynami's Futurama line goes on!!! My first impression is YES!!! - the line is continuing and we're getting more figures! My second impression is YES!!! - Morbo and URL were at the top of my list, and obsolete Bender was on my mind too and looks great. My third impression is WTF!? - Morbo is huge! That said, quickly Googled Morbo and he is bigger than I remembered - at least 50% bigger than puny humans. Anyone have any screenshots of Morbo actually standing up in full beside a human? We're so used to him sitting, but he probably is huge. That said, found a couple of things, and he seems to vary, sometimes not much bigger, other times quite a bit bigger. Here's a short clip on YouTube where at the very end Bender walks by and his eyes are at shoulder-height for Morbo's wife, which would put his eyes at about mid-chest height for Morbo. And Morbo is slouching as his wife does his tie. So maybe Toynami's not far off. That aside, I think all three figures look great. And I think this is just the teaser, with more to come as part of this new series/wave. Morbo could be the build-a-figure or not. Regardless, I'm guessing that there's bound to be at least another couple of figures (one more + BAF, or two more if Morbo is the BAF). Probably still to be confirmed - as the little sign says these are "Summer 2010", which means time to announce a few more. Maybe someone at ToyFair will ask the Toynami reps to clarify their plans and post something somewhere. But for now, I'm celebrating!

With Bender's popularity, Toynami's going to keep pumping them out. Personally I don't mind too much, especially with this one as he's so different from the other Benders. Anything's possible, it could just be these figures, but I doubt it. The BAF only makes sense as a sweetener to get people to buy a bunch of figures they might not otherwise. But the fewer figures per series, then the more it costs Toynami per BAF. I think if it really got down to two figures, they'd be better off forgetting the BAF and just doing three figures, selling Morbo. Could be wrong, but I'm betting there are more figures to be announced. By the way, here's another site with pictures, though nothing really different.

The figures look pretty good!
However, if Morbo is that tall, then why wasn't Calculon taller as well? He's definitely supposed to be taller than Bender...and why is Roberto so big?

Series 10 Morbo? That seems like the logic to me 24th century accesories are good I would prefer scruffy for the other half of ten... but it may be Smitty/Linda, the other half of the double act If they want to keep up with Kidrobot they need Sal and Lrrr

I'd hedge my bets on Morbo and Obsolete Bender being the sold characters and URL being the build-a-bot. The "bot" in build-a-bot effectively rules out Morbo. All the other's have been robots too, The Devil, Santa and Roberto. Like Roberto, buying just the two (Morbo and Obsolete Bender) will give you the complete URL, unlike the first two build-a-bots requiring three figures to complete the "bonus".
Just my 2 cents.

Sometimes these things change, as we once had Lrrr announced at a show, only to have him replaced by Amy. But that's the exception, so odds are Wooden Bender and URL are the retail figures for Series 9 as per the little sign.
Personally, I don't think that two figures is enough to support a build-a-figure, so I'm guessing this will be another round of four, so two more figures in a Series 10. It's quite possible that Morbo is the build-a-figure (rather than a build-a-"bot" this time), because he's big and because the prototype is already done.
If you think about it, as Toynami looks to the next series (with the last of the Roberto waves in stores now), the first priority has to be to get the prototypes done, approved then into production. The packaging can be finished off later (with decisions on say a third and fourth figure able to be put off right up until the packaging is finalized).
But to get the next series underway, Toynami's got to have those two figures in the pipeline plus the build-a-figure as parts of it will go with those two figures. As such, there's a good chance that's what we've seen here are the two main figures (obsolete Bender and URL), plus the build-a-figure (Morbo).
Otherwise, if Obsolete Bender and URL are the Series 9 figures as indicated, and Morbo is not the build-a-figure, then that would be a problem potentially as Toynami's got to have the build-a-figure under way in order for its parts to be ready at the same time as the other two figures.
Does this make sense? Of course, I'm just speculating. Another possibility is there is no build-a-figure this time around, though that seems unlikely based on the track record of the line. A further possibility is there are a few more figures floating out there in development, with one of them being a build-a-figure/bot, but Toynami didn't get its act together in time to have them at ToyFair.
But if you think of it logically, in terms of Toynami concentrating on what it most needs to get the next series out, then it would make sense that Morbo's the build-a-figure to go with Bender and URL. Only time will tell...

I gotta admit, I'm a little disappointed in the Professor and Hermes. Mom and Chef Bender got a few accessories, but Hermes? Bupkis. They could have at least given him a small brain slug to attach (or, as I've suggested elsewhere, a removable head to put in a jar or put on backwards). The professor could have had a lot of things, like a finglonger or a what-if machine. I know costs had to be cut to keep the line alive, but don't they think that they could have sold more units with cooler acccesories?

Ya, there's no doubt some accessories would have been nice. Let's hope we see more in the future. Speaking of accessories and what not, anyone checked out these diorama backgrounds from ActionFigureDisplays? They seem pretty sweet and I've got my eye on this one for my Mezco Family Guy figures: None of them really jump out at me though as being well suited for Futurama figures. So I dropped them this note: Nice displays, got anything in the works that would suit Toynami's Futurama figures? Need a future city skyline or some generic commercial cartoon interior along the lines of the cartoon living room for Family Guy. Cheers. And here's what they had to say: Thanks for writing and taking an interest in Action Figure Displays. We are planning on releasing a futuristic/robot city in Series 3, however there is no release date as of right now. As for the "commercial cartoon interior", we will add that to the list of possible themes for the future. We love to hear suggestions from other toy fans and we take every suggestion into consideration. Of course an interior of the Planet Express building or ship would be sweet, but didn't think they'd make one just for Futurama, hence my suggestion of some kind of more generic commercial interior. But who knows, maybe they would. Anyway, I'll look forward to seeing the futuristic/robot city one...

I stopped collecting Futurama figures a while back because my comic shop doesn't stock the new figures anymore. They still have loads of Nudars and Calculons on their hands they can't seem to get rid off. I think I must have lost interest from not seeing any new figures there. But the stuff from ToyFair and Michael Crawford's review of Chef Bender and Mom got me excited about this line again. So today I caught up with my abandoned Futurama collection in a big way. I just placed an order with Forbidden Planet for Amy, Clobberella, Prof. Farnsworth, Hermes, Chef Bender, Mom and the 2009 San Diego Comic Con exclusive Fry and Leela from Universe 1. What a load of stuff! I can't wait for that big cardboard box to be delivered! Instead of waiting for months and months I'll be able to assemble Roberto in a matter of minutes. Only thing I'm missing now is the Santa Robot / Santa Bender two-pack from 2008. But I'll get that one too eventually. Onto Morbo for 2010!
